New reloading bench

My plan is to use two layers of 3/4" plywood laminated together. I would like to be able to seat bullets while my Chargemaster is running. There will also be a vise at the end for cranking down barrel nuts and such.

I have a RCBS rock chucker single stage. I will definitely have to anchor the bench. It's sturdy but if you press hard down and away from the wall it wobbles some. I will just do as stated above and use some L brackets and screw into wall studs.

I mounted mine to the floor with L brackets. I also screwed it to the wall.

I did stain & poly the top to a glass finish with no problems.

Maybe cause I do my casting & dirty work in the shop & load in the house.

Looks good. Have you considered putting soms sort of countertop material on the top? It might make it look a bit more "finished".

Do it, I'm really pleased with the way it turned out. The only thing I would do different is the rectangle frame I built to support the extra end is only as wide as the cabinet, not the width of the plywood top. I should have made it the whole width (2') and that would have set the legs farther apart and made it a little mode stable. But even then may still have had to anchor it to the wall

Just price it around some for a while. Check craigslist.org may find the piece you need cheap.

My dad loves making reloading tables in his spare time (mom hates it though and calls them Frankenstein tables). He likes to use steel and aluminum to make them sturdy. The older tables he made from wood have large legs, I'm thinking 4x4's of solid oak. He never uses pine, says it is crap.

If I can remember, I'll get you some pics to maybe help give you some ideas to modify your by in the future.

4 to 5 good coats of fast drying. Poly clear and nothing will bother it.

There's no junk on it! How can it be a reloading bench when you can actually see the table top?

I put a coat of Danish Oil on it today. Natural finish. Looks good

I think that a reloading table should be kinda like a work bench table, the more stained it becomes the better ! It lets me know that I'm using it. On thing I learned after making my first one years ago is to make it heavy duty as possible.
