Marlin Model 336 30-30

I just purchased a Marlin Model 336 in 30-30 Win. I do believe per the serial number, 1811**** that it was manufactured in 1982, however that is all I know about the gun. On the barrel it is stamped "The Marlin Firearms Co. North Haven Conn, Usa Est. 1870-Micro-Groove Barrel Mod. 336 Cal. 30-30 Win." I suppose my question is; Do I have just the plain ole everday model 336 or did I just "steal" a gold mine ? LOL

PS: JM in an oval is on the barrell as well

Sounds like an everyday 336 manufactured in 1982. If it is by chance the straight grip version (336T "Texan") that it the last year they were made I belive. Edited November 8, 2012 by Garufa

Yes it was a great buy; especially right before deer season. Twice the money wouldn't buy a better quality rifle.

Great buy. I have a newer model 336 (mid 90s) and I would buy another one if it was listed so low just out of principle.

Want your mony back Thats a great buy. I just bought a 1982 Marlin 336 in 35 Rem this week for $250 also!!!

Must be a good week. Bad thing is then I needed a chainsaw instead so i had to sell something eles to cover it!

Yes! Definitely a steal in my opinion. In very good condition, they usually go for $300-$400. You got a good quality gun made by Marlin. I love my 336.

Current 336 A or W is about $400 out the door, the 336 is more, only difference is walnut stock vs. birch.

Andy's is walnut and would have nicer bluing than any of those in last 10 years or so also.

It's a fine buy on a fine rifle.

Really. If you are not happy with rifle my wife has been wanting her own 30-30 and that would make a great Xmas gift. I will let you out of it if you want your money back.

I've owned several Marlin 336 in 30/30 and 35 Rem. They are good deer woods guns. I have harvested several deer with these guns.

Great buy on a great gun.

I've had my 336 for 44 years. It's still rock solid. Of course with a few nicks and dings.
I have a set of Williams sights on it. It's a fast handling, accurate whitetail getter!

Awesome. I got a 336W a few years ago, although it was brand new ^^' According to the serial, it was made in either 2009 or 1909, ahahaha... I love my 336, and I bet you'll love yours! And for only $250, that's something else.
