Probably would have been more penetration if he held the pistol sideways!  :)

 

Seriously though, I don't see the point trying pistols rounds? The lifter valley area is a bad indicator of penetration, it's always a weak area on a block. The side of the block would tell you more.

We did it just to see because .357's have been known to punch through before.

Id like to have seen some big bore revolvers like .44mag .460 and .500 mag. Also what type ammo was in the .308?

Great job on the video though, enjoyed it!

 

We will get the other calibers next time and for that it will be a complete engine. The .308 was just military ball.

I wonder if there would be a way to account for deflection and deformation of going through the fender/inner and accessories?

 

Just as a more accurate test. Ya'know?

Yeah we will try to do what we can next time when we shoot the complete engine.
