Just one more illustration that the TSA does nothing more than violate the rights of people while producing not one whit of increased safety.

The link has a video where a man builds what appears to be a low powered grenade with materials purchased AFTER the security screening.

Adding more batteries to an all metal container would make it lethal. Like those water storage bottles. And I bet if it was empty the TSA would allow it past security. The pipe cutter is used to open the batteries and with a little work it can be done by hand. And to make it even more effective put cayenne pepper in with the water. It would make it and explosive pepper bomb.

Sorry Chuck, usually we are on the same page but the first part of your post is just plain wrong on a few levels.

First, the TSA doesn't violate anybody's rights, plain and simple. True upon their inception, true today, and true of the FAA before them. No one, repeat, NO ONE has a right to fly, period.

As the matter of if they increase actuall security and safety, that's a question we really can't answer, kind of like if grandma had balls would we call her grandpa.

Now que the "they didn't catch the shoe bomber or underwear bomber" BS and we've got ourselves a good old fashioned TGO TSA thread. :D

EDIT to add that the second part is spot on, one can build a bomb or create a toxic chemical reaction out of just about anything. Edited by TrickyNicky

It is true that nobody has a right to fly. Whether or not a person flies on an airplane is decided by a transaction of commerce between two private entities. What people in this country do have, is a right to travel freely without being forced to submit to a sexual assault perpetrated by government agents simply on the basis of choosing to fly as a mode of travel. Nobody has the right to travel by car either but if they do, they don't automatically consent to a cavity search by police unless they have provided RAS that they are involved in criminal activity(well, except for New Mexico that is). That is the point where the rights violations come ino play. According to the TSA choosing to fly means that you are automatically a suspect of criminal activity and therefore may be searched like an inmate being inproccessed into jail. Edited by Chucktshoes

Where can you buy a pipecutter and Leatherman in an airport terminal? I know "stuff" gets by getting caught with a Leatherman or Pipecutter would get you instantly sent to "THE BAAAAAACCCKKKK ROOOOOMMMM:"

Anyway, Im sure as hell glad I only fly by choice now, But want to make flying even more miserable than it is? Show the TSA how lethal Jack and Coke, Crown and Water or Blue Moon is.

And only twice as lethal to the user than the victim eh?

This guys a dork, all he's going to do is get a bunch of ninnies all worked up over something that has no solution. I still don't get why people are still losing sleep over crap like this? When does it stop? Do we have to be strapped to a gurney and be dollied around like Hannibal Lector or what?

Exactly! It has no solution. That's the point being made. So we should dispense with the security theater of unreasonable searches and sexual assaults so folks can accept that there are risks in life that can't be eliminated and go back to enjoying flying.
