Well here is the info I got from a sign in front of the new indoor range being built in Franklin. It is off Hwy 96 behind Rite Aid Pharmacy and across the side street from Alexander Toyota. No one was around to ask when it might be open.

I went to his shop in Goodlettsville once, and I remember thinking "I'll never buy a gun here." $$$$$$$ :D

I don’t think it’s possible to be any higher than the well known gun shop that will be a few blocks away.

And that place is packed every time I go in there. They have more employees in the store than most gun shops have customers. ;)

That just goes to show how many folks in that area have more money that sense.

Yeah, he currently runs Rivergate Knives and Guns. The old store closed in Goodlettsville a few years ago.

A buddy of mine was involved with Rick, when Uselton's sponsored a bass fishing tournament. He never paid out to any of the winners is the story I got from several people. They all paid their entry fees, and he kept the cash. I never asked him personally, but the guys I know that said it are not likely to make that crap up.

Sounds like Owl Hollow is still the closest option for me then. I was looking forward to this being "close," but now . . .

speaking of that [hijack] does anyone in the area wanna shoot and bring me as a guest? i'd rather not join and pay before shooting there at least once ....

I was afraid i was the only one uncomfortable with Uselton.

I brought a Mauser barreled action to them to have "their" gunsmith install some open sights I really liked. The smith called me two days later to let me know the bill would be $250 or $300(dont remember exactly, been a while) because Useltons charged $100 as a transfer fee! :tinfoil: I felt a little bad for the gunsmith because his tone of voice when he said it showed he even knew the charge was preposterous. I thanked him and passed on the work.

Another two days later Useltons called to let me know I could pickup my gun. I went in and looked around before getting my gun and really didnt like the nature of the store. Nice stuff and well decorated but the employees didnt seem very helpful in any department and the prices all seemed at the high end of retail.

I asked for my gun and started to head out when Uselton himself caught up to me. He wanted to know why I wasnt having my gun built by them, obviously I was just going to do it myself, right? I kindly let him know his transfer fee was nuts and asked him why would I have ever even think of having the work done if I had the equipment to do it myself? He didnt answer me, just wanted to know where I was going to have the work done. Without answering him I thanked him and hit the road.

I never went back and wouldnt knowingly use a business owned or operated by him. Its his store and he sets the prices and MO for the business, I'm cool with that. Just dont be surprised if people arent appreciative of overpriced arogance.

Rant over, sorry folks,

Eric Huber

How can they charge a transfer fee for installing sights??

Am I missing something in your story? :)
