Would anyone pay this?!?

Recommended Posts

Not that many people in Polk Co. either.

But they have managed to stay in business for 20 or 30 yrs.

i all ways wonder how they stay in business.  before 2008 they had somewhat good prices.  then they went nuts.  when the 22 lr ammo madness hit they had the 550 round box for $99.99.  their 5.56 ammo went high too.  their reloading supplies went out of sight.  so did the guns prices.  i use to stop by once or twice a month to kill some time.  but now i don't even slow down.   you can only see the over price stuff so many times before it gets old.  last time i was in i was the only customer in the store.  took for ever to get someone to show me a pistol.  several workers standing around not working and not carrying.

There isn't much of anything in that area.

True, but its on a major highway. There is a lot of traffic by there. Anytime I drive to Atlanta or north GA, I take 411. Its faster from here.

I used to stop there frequently on my way down. I've even made special trips when a friend wanted to visit their store. It used to be a destination. But the last few times I stopped, the prices were outrageous. So I stopped going there. Shame too. The long guns are lined up on the walls so they can be picked up easily. They had a nice selection of hand loading supplies. It's a really nice store. Clean bathrooms.

I suspect that when the panic buying dies down (if it ever does), their prices will come back down or they'll go out of business.

I thought that it may have been Benton's.  I failed to see their name on the price tag.  I swore never to go there again after I found several bricks of Thunderbolt at $70 a piece this past summer.  I had selected a nice (and expensive) leather holster for my wife that I put back before I left after seeing their price on .22.

One box missing, so somebody took the bait.

If I could buy something for 'X' amount of dollars and then triple my money, I would.  That's a good return.

For anyone who hates these kind of people...you do get one consolation prize.  That fella has to pay taxes on inventory he doesn't move.  It's obvious he's okay with that because he clearly ain't moving it.  BUT, he don't owe me anything so go for it.

I called them many years ago and asked if they had a specific gun. The guy on the phone told me they did and gave me a price. I drove from Knoxville only to find out they were full of it. Didn't have it and never did. I don't care if that powder was $2, I will NEVER go back, not even to look.

Reloaders bench in Mt Juliet is the same way. Pricing stuff for who wants it. I quit shopping there when they started charging 49.00 for a brick of primers. They we're saying that the cost went up even though Midway still had them from time to time at 29.00

I guess if the zombies are coming its worth it, but I have enough to buy when the price is right.

Nah, more likely the store pulled the box to make it look like someone purchased it. Kinda like when store workers set out a tip jar and put some of their own money in to "prime the pump".
