Gun shop owner declares store Muslim-free zone

Forcing a business to serve someone is straight up socialism. Might as well tell them at birth that they will run said business as an occupation when they are grown.

Capitalism means you start your own business and serve who you wish.

In Soviet America, business serve you!

If you own a bakery, you have to bake wedding cakes for gays even if it is against your religious beliefs so says the SCOTUS

You know what, if someone wants to refuse to cook for me, I am 100 percent OK with it.  I don't every want to force someone to cook my food if they don't want to.

The number 1 rule is, always be nice to the cook.

Oregon...bakers fined $135,000 and placed under a gag order by the Oregon Civil Rights Commission (IIRC)....

Yup, more to that story than posted. There was no gag order and the last article I read said the fine still hadn't been imposed.

The backdrop to that is Oregon passed an anti discrimination law that includes gay folks. You can't refuse to serve a gay person in Oregon because they're gay any more than you can refuse to serve a black person because they're black. When you operate a business in that state, you agree to abide by those regulations.

I think it's ridiculous, but the odds of ever being able to repeal anti discrimination laws are so small they really shouldn't even count as odds. It just won't happen. It should, but it won't.

It does make me chuckle a little though, when new anti discrimination legislation is proposed and the religion of love thy neighbor and do unto others starts crying for an exemption so that they can discriminate.

Easy there, not all Muslims are "sand people" and not all "sand people" are Muslims. Plenty of middle eastern people who are Christians.

Just don't want us to turn allies into enemies.

Plus the plenty of Muslims who just want to go about their lives and could care less about the radical side of their religion.

If Islam was a bent on killing the infidel as some of you like to think it is (not you Dolo), they I would have never survived the two and a half years I lived out in the Kuwaiti economy from 2009-2011.

Forcing me to choose between my conscience and the law is a good thing why exactly?
If a doctor has moral qualms about performing an abortion, they refer you to someone who doesn't. Apparently they should have their license pulled?

Florists and bakers, priests and pizza shop owners are discovering that tolerance isn't enough, they must celebrate. This will not end well.

No, since not all doctors provide the same individual services.  However, if a Doctor performs abortion services, they should fall under the same anti-discrimination services, in addition to medical practice laws.

It's "the radical side of their religion" that presents the danger. The Muslims who just want to go about their lives (most of them) are not being true Muslims according to the Koran. It is written in their holy book to kill us. At what point does a "safe" Muslim start to become more aligned with the Koran and become a threat? There's no way to know. The Chattanooga shooter was considered a Muslim that just wanted to go about his life until he became "radicalized" (aka, a Muslim following the teachings of the Koran). So, according to the teachings of his holy book, he became a "better" Muslim.

I believe in the freedom of religion, and thank God for it. However, the radical (true) side of Islam is a real threat to us all.

I'm pretty well aquainted with the radical side of Islam.  I just think interperting the text and intent of the Quran is best left to individuals.  The Chattanooga shooter presented the same type of threat as Dylan Roff, he just had a different target and engagement method.

Bad guys are bad guys without religion gumming up the debate.  As far as I'm concerned, everybody is suspect.

There is a lot of disagreement on that score...the last article I read said the gag order had indeed been imposed, despite many articles stating to the contrary.  Depends upon what the meaning of "is" is, I suppose....  :)
