I've become somewhat of a convert to dots in the last couple of years. I've learned (through spending $$$) that my preference is green, auto brightness, shake awake and multiple reticules. Notably Holosun. I still shoot iron sights however dots do present a completely new discipline to pistol shooting in my opinion. The mounting patterns are challenging. If possible, obtain a dot that is a direct mount (no plate) for your pistol. because they are "buried" in the slide co-witness is more probable. As far as mounting. I learned to place the screws/fasteners in alcohol before I use, to remove any preservative oil on them. Use a small amount of blue loctite and torque to spec. Every fifty rounds or so try to wiggle the dot to ensure no movement. Dots have come a long way and frankly will extend the shooting career for many of us. And JB Weld is always an option.... Happy shooting.
