  1. FYI, Pre-Paid legal is a good product. I have sold it for the past 6 yrs. I also have it. The best thing about it is that you have 24 hour access to attorneys with a 1-800 call. Is your attorney always available, even when on vacation. What about if you are in another state? In TN, it is ran by a very large law firm with attorneys experienced in all the various fields of law. They also have affiliates in about every state. It is certainly a good emergency resource, plus useful in other personal aspects. (ever get a speeding ticket?) Be glad to share more if you have questions. Just drop me a PM
  2. A new shooter will certainly get their money's worth with a trip to Front Sight out in Las Vegas. A lifetime membership can be had for $500 or less, with access to every course they offer. Good technique/habits initially will keep you from having to 'unlearn' bad ones later.
  3. It is not hard to believe the support. Everytime gay marriage is on the ballot it loses. It is simply the majority exercising their viewpoint and supporting a business that believes the same way. Nothing wrong with standing by your principles. Not hard to believe Chicago and Chick-Fil-A would have differing viewpoints.
  4. I've loaded a bunch of 124 gr Montanta gold HP. Shoot a M&P, works fine for paper and steel. Rather soft load with 4.7gr. WSF. COL 1.030
  5. His marketing may be controversial, but no one supports the 2nd Admendment more vigorously than the developer of Front Sight........and I like his position that follows: Dr. Ignatius Piazza Friday, July 27, 2012 I have the answer to the insanity of Gun Free Zones and I am putting my money where my mouth is by paying the legal fees of the first victim to file a very specific lawsuit against the Cinemark Movie Theater chain that denied responsible citizens their right to carry a concealed weapon to defend themselves against the murderous rampage of a deranged killer. AND Wednesday, July 25, 2012 I am dedicating this week to the victims of Aurora, Colorado Cinemark Theater mass murders by exposing the insanity of "Gun Free Zones" and calling ALL elected officials, opinion leaders, celebrities, and businesses who support the insanity of gun control exactly what they are... accomplices to mass murder! I know that sounds harsh, but someone has to speak up loud enough to be heard over the cries from those who perpetuate the unilateral disarmament of responsible citizens, giving criminals, terrorists, and the deranged ZERO resistance to carry out their assaults, rapes, murders and massacres. Sane Americans, even non gun-owning Americans are no longer buying the anti-gun BS coming out of the usual suspects in Washington DC and the media. Anyone can see, due to so many real world examples that are readily available on the Internet, that when you have an armed, trained, responsible citizen in a public place EVERYONE IS SAFER and such murderous rampages as have occurred countless times in "Gun Free Zones" just can't happen.
  6. Gander always 'likes' their stuff a lot better than I do. Shop around.
  7. Use a 10cc syringe, 18ga needle. cut the neele with wire cutters, take needle nose pliers to 'squeeze' the crimp out of the needle. Fill syringe with lubriplate.......good to go. Can do the same thing with Mobil 1.

  9. And this is not a time to panic and fear the 'sky is falling'. The voting booth is our friend, please do so. Also this shows a strengthening in the aftermath of the shooting, which is a much stronger force than the typical call for more gun control. As many have said in the past, THEY want all of our guns. This most recent assualt is on LONG guns. I don't believe the shooter fired a shot from his handgun. It will just as easily carry over to shotguns IMO. I believe many of the unfortunate victims would have no problem choosing a weapon over popcorn the next time they go out. Laws are and were ineffective; always been that way. Many want to eliminate the ballistic clothing, teargas, 'black' movies, guns, more signs, more security........We must think and react rationally. But, unfortunately, there is no way to make everyone safe......just look at the world around us and take responsibility for your own safety.
  10. This is why all elections are important, especially Congress. Turn out to vote and get all your friends and family to do likewise.
  11. I have a R1 and have shot at least 3000 rds through it. Great gun, especially for the price. I have had only 1 FTF with RN. Two 4 day classes @ 600 rds each with only that one issue. It is my go to gun for things that go bump in the night. BUT, great choice on the Sig. I bought one recently and it is sweet. Several hundred rounds through it and the accurracy is fantanstic. For the money the Sig is the best value out there IMO.....
  12. I don't know my reaction, I know I do think about similar situations and plans. Staying 'yellow' is step one. I think I have really made that decision already, otherwise there would be no use in carrying.
  13. Several comments 1. Evil has been present since Cain v Abel. Always will be that way. If man does not care to violate God's law, thou shall not kill, then why would he care to violate man's law? Laws are ineffective in this case...just like the gun-buster sign. 2. Many throughout the media and public call-in actually condemned any HCP intervention, worried about cross-fire etc. I don't think it could have been much worse. The shooter, IMO, was playing a video game in his mind. If the game shot back, I think it would have been different. Maybe not by one HCP, but what if there had been 3 - 4 HCP present? 3. The media gives no acknowledgment that many civilians have had considerably more firearms training than a lot of LEO. Not speaking of crisis intervention, in general, but simply firearms. 4. Whether the level of training of a HCP is satisfactory or not, each person has the right to chose whether to arm and protect themselves. In retrospect, it would be interesting how many in that theater would have preferred to have a weapon available.
  14. Don't worry......if you can't pass the shooting exam you wouldn't have made it to the right place to take the test.
  15. The best helicopter view the news gave looks more like W.Virginia plates than TN plates......but doesn't really matter.
  16. I'm 58, and TMF and Dave both said it best for me. At least having the perogative to carry in this State and for the most part, in this country, gives us the option to react as each of us sees fit at the time.
  17. I agree with that 100%. Didn't judge you, but I am surprised many could stand by and watch such an attack, and do nothing. I will also add that this situation is totally different from robbery, etc. especially if it's not my stuff, where for the most part, it is either money or property that is stolen. No big deal, no bodily harm, maybe a little bruising of the ego, etc. and in such a case, my weapon stays holstered.
  18. If I were to be judged by my peers, in this situation, I was hoping that most of them would be from this TGO forum. Guess I am mistaken. It would be interesting to see how this breaks down by age. Very similar situation in stopping to render aid at an auto accident. Many people say 'no' because of fear of liability. Other situations are out there, I'm sure. But to me, if someone is clearly being attacked, and in this situation stabbed----repeatedly---- well I've stated my reaction. My moral conviction is much more important to me than any possible legal ramification of my actions.
  19. Seems as though you are going through a lot of steps for someone that lives in the combat zone of Memphis...
  20. So Caster, you really believe that a cop is always there when you need them? A house is on fire and someone is inside......just wait for the fire dept, they are paid to get the people out? I guess none of us really need our guns or fire extinguishers. Yeah, I know it sucks....the legal crap....but then again by doing the right thing at the right time I can live with myself. You MIGHT get arrested, but it's doubtful given the circumstances as presented by the OP.
  21. Sure, just look around at other 'societies' where there is more evil than good. Many of the African nations who have wallowed in stagnation for lack of development.......every man for themselves mentality. I would say it is the same in the Middle East. Read any American History? This country was built on helping each other in times of need and why this is still the best place on earth......for the time being. So yes I can see drv31st point.
  22. "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." , Edmund Burke My 'wiring' would not let me just stand there and not intervene. Yes, call 911, but then something must be done to save someone's life. I might try and pull the women through the opposite side of the car, but the attack would be stopped, using deadly force if necessary. I couldn't live with myself otherwise. I hope no one finds themselves in this position, or one of their loved ones being victimized and find out someone there had the power to stop the attack and didn't.
  23. tough choice........offer enough 'boot' and get both....problem solved
