Go Yeager......... :usa:

I've been very happy with the one Academy carries with their logo on it. $35.

just finished my on-line chat with CTD. Was told they were 'out' of guns. I told them that daily I receive emails for shopping that stated differently, my disappointment in the company and if they were bailing on the firearms community, I was bailing on them.......took my name off their regular mail and email. Asked the gal to share that with management. I think we all need to stick together, buty CTD obviously doesn't . Would encourage everyone to do the same and remember those that do; and those that don't.

Conn. has some of the most rigid gun laws in the country. The mom of the shooter is getting a lot of criticism due to the shooter/son getting access to the guns she owned. Has anyone heard whether or not she had the guns under lock and key? My guess is she did, except for the .22 she was shot in the face with. Maybe then the son was able to get access to otherwise securely kept firearms. Anyway, my gun, your gun, her guns, are not the issue. No one that is sane would even think of such atrocities. Maybe BHO can get his liberal hollywood buddies to quit making violent movies and video games that pollute our 'kinder and gentler' nation. Maybe he can lower the divorce/broken family issues, maybe he can get God back into our schools.

this is a mental health issue, not a gun issue. No one in their right mind would do any of these shootings.

No OB doc in his right mind would give you permission in writing. If the baby is not 'perfect' any lawyer would have a cake walk taking him to the cleaners. While no range is going to tell you there are problems, all have some airborne lead. I would not risk my unborn child's hearing or health. If something showed up later on, you would certainly have some 'what ifs".

Disarmed in a traffic stop
chances R replied to tennessee01tacoma's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I think it is a given that we are surrounded by idiots........IF I was LEO, and until I think I know all I need to know about the people I have stopped, I can't say I wouldn't do the same thing. I'll give LEO the benefit of doubt, traffic stops are initially high risk affairs, so I'll leave it to their judgement and proceed as directed. All I ask for it respect and courtesy....both ways. -
CTD, but they make up for it in shipping and handling costs. For what they normally charge for S&H they should of at least refunded the handling......cause all they did was ship.

Mobil 1 5W and Lubriplate. If in a hurry or need a little lube Hornady One Shot for convenience.

7 year old boy shot dead outside gun store.
chances R replied to Jesse's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Terrible tragedy, and punishment enough with the loss of a son that the father is responsible for. Prayers for the family for the lifelong guilt they will carry. Let it be a lesson for others. Everyday in a gun shop you can see many violate the 4 gun rules and nothing is said. We all need to insist that everyone follow those rules in our presence. NO EXCUSES. You can see it with hunters and shooters at all levels Complacency is the enemy and we ALL must follow the rules and practice what we preach. I'm sorry for the loss, but the father had to violate 3 rules: Always treat every gun as if it was loaded. Never point it at anything you are not willing to shoot. Keep your finger OFF the trigger until you are on the target and ready to shoot. Unfortunately someone else will still have to re-learn the rules somewhere....sometime. -
Arming children with the facts about guns

This sort of ignorance has worked very well for our youth with drugs, sex and alcohol as well............... -
Poll - On your carry gun; Safety or no Safety?
chances R replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
#3 because I carry several different guns, depending on activity and clothing, or possible encounters. Its kind of funny how the mind works in that I can't recall any operator confusion with the controls of any of my firearms. I have switched shotguns many times from, top mounted tang safties, push button in front or behind trigger guard, to double trigger side by sides to a few target guns without an operating safety. I think it all comes down to between the ears and familiarity with your platforms. -

Where would you shoot.......head or body
chances R replied to chances R's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
With cold weather, heavy coats, thick clothing, close quarters, I've debated whether it is appropriate to shoot an attacker in the head vs. the body. In general the head shot is regarded as a failure to stop. With the previous factors, and also consider small caliber, do you think there is more legal risk just going for the head shot initially?
Should have anticipated the debate I quess. I really don't care how or where YOU shoot, or what you think my abilities are. My question was simply noted and reposted in BOLD. I haven't seen or read anything that obligates one to shoot COM before going for the head. -
Where would you shoot.......head or body
chances R replied to chances R's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
The question is more for a legal discussion, you know, excessive force vs. stop the attack. I have had considerable training from the holster for head box shots. The majority of my shots with IDPA will also be head shots. Just wanted to see what the general feeling was. -

Suggestions on home defense shotguns
chances R replied to jwinter's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
any shotgun will do as long as YOU will do. If it is going to sit most of the time, save your money and get something inexpensive; you're not going to shoot it enough to tear it up. If you have a suitable shotgun you hunt with, let it do double duty as a HD gun. If you have money to burn....then the sky is the limit. There are a lot of good guns, most have been mentioned, just look around for what fits your budget and taste. -

The big question - concealed or open?
chances R replied to Pat's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Think about it! The only reason you would give up your property of any kind is out of fear of severe bodily harm or death. -
you would have lost your bet this time. Happens with Wilson and Factory Sig

The big question - concealed or open?
chances R replied to Pat's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
OP said he was a couple of years from being able to make the decision....legally. If this election BHO is back in office, it may be a mute point. -
I too had the 'hots' for a Sig 1911. Bought the standard Nitron 1911 and it is my favorite.......except......it does ocassionaly fail to go into full battery. That really sucks, because I really like this gun. Sig has promised to make it right, and I understand this is something they have had some problems with. Hopefully they will solve the problem because it is very accurate and feels great in the hand.

"birdshot".....7.5 or 8s are devestating at close ranges under 10 yds. and IMO much safer in a home where other friendlies may be. Generally much safer if you have neighbors as well. Buck shot or slugs are going to go through the walls of most homes and possibly into a neighbors. Not saying I wouldn't use them, but can't argue that your use of them would be ineffective.
-
Well I did too. If it wasn't for this one issue...it's a great gun. Very nice trigger, dead-on accurrate. It just needs to be 100% reliable with the ammo, or it has to go.
-
Well, after about 500 rds, my Sig Nitron still occassionally fails to go into full battery. RN, FMJ and still not 100%. Called Sig today. Very pleasant, helpful CS. Took down the info, emailed pre-paid shipping label for Fed-X and it's off to the factory. So far, so good. I have read where others have had issues; will keep you posted.
