  1.     EVER?.......Body armor?  Drug crazed?  Dedicated opponent?    Thanks for all the answers, but again, I repeat,  Just wondering on the legal implications of the head shot.  Plus with the price and scaricity of ammo, one shot to the head more economical......
  2.   From now on always wear your muffs cleaning your gun....   Your wife was probably yellin',    To answer a previous post, I routinely use the Howard Leight electronic muffs.. Long battery life, auto cut-off if you forget.
  3. Exactly,  you really don't know what you don't know.  I shot handguns all my life; thought I knew how until I took a class.  Really opened my eyes.  Practice is OK, but Perfect Practice is much better.  Most people are Unconsciously incompetent, just because of not knowing.  Now that you are Consciously incompetent you can fix it.  Your goal is to be Unconsciously Competent.
  4.   THAT just ain't right :yuck:
  5. If time permits, electronic muffs are not only protective, but also a tactical advantage indoors and out.  Keep 'em with your flashlight and SD gun.
  6. ET Pat.  Please explain a non-lethal weapon.  At the point of attack; and that is what we are talking about...an attack.  No one knows how that is going to end, or when it will end.  Just about any weapon can result in serious bodily harm, if not lethal at some point.  Certainly a pellet gun can be lethal as noted by several posters  My loss of vision would be life-changing, not to mention career changing and very severely effect my family.  So if I'm on the jury, yes, this gentleman was attacked and risked significant bodily harm, if not loss of life.  Also what about protection of his girl friend.  How do you know what the attacker has in mind.  A gun is a gun, especially in an attack.  If you don't think so, point your water pistol at an officer sometime.
  7. Stainless.......buy it once and done.  Nothing can shine/clean any better.
  8. Well there you go........you know if it is on the internet it has to be true
  9. IMO the liklihood of having an ND, or, a 'click' because a snap cap is loaded instead of a live round out-weighs the potential for damage.  It is certainly a legimate purpose of the gun to dry practice, and therefore anticipated wear and tear in the training process.  If it makes one feel better to use a dummy device, nothing wrong with it, but I have seen both of the situations mentioned happen with shotguns, and have heard of same with pistols.
  10. Most modern firearms, other than rimfire can be dry-practiced almost endlessly.  I know multiple instructors that have done this with 1911, Glock, M&P, and XDs thousands of times with no problems other than general wear and tear.  If there is an issue it should be a simple repair.  Which do you think causes more wear, firing a gun 5,000 times, or simply dry practice for the same number?
  11. I completely understand people OC, but IMO this does more harm than good, just as the OP pointed out;  i.e.  more gunbuster signs.  One's OC is not going to convince the general public that it is an OK thing, in fact I think it has just the opposite effect.  Tactically it is also a bad choice.  I really don't think we want to divide us up and argue OC vs. CC, but I do think that those that OC need to really evaluate what they are accomplishing overall.

  13. SS balls won't clean in the edges of the base of the case interior.   A little dawn dish washing solution and a little bit of Lemon Shine powder thrown in the water gets the job done.
  14. have a Kahr CM9, but prefer my Taurus 709.  I shoot it a little better, probably because the barrel is a touch longer.  Prefer the thumb safety, as the Kahr does not have one.  Money wasn't an issue, but the 709 is a little cheaper.  Both have been 100% reliable.
  15. If you are ever going to shoot the gun......quit worrying about it.  It's clean, give it a little oil, and start on another one.

    Sr9c or Kahr cm9

I have a CM9.  Fully loaded it is a little heavy as a pocket gun, but, I can and do carry in a jacket with the DeSantis Nemesis holster.  Occasionally I will carry in loose pant pockets again with the holster.  I much prefer my LCP for pocket carry.  Fury makes as small and low profile as any for belt carry and you can get J hooks to convert to an ISWB and tuckable.
  17. I think that there is a significant difference outdoors vs indoors.
  18. What makes anyone think the 'guvmit' can track anything, especially from years ago.  And if they did, it would take an enormous amount of manpower and time......plus they got to track over 300 million weapons and who knows how many transfers that involves. :puke:
  19. There is no 'one' right choice; that's why there are so many choices.  Since this is your first purchase, you obviously have not shot much, and therefore a 9mm would make sense to me, and would be easier for your wife to join you at the range more often as well.  No big significant difference in the XD and XDm.  You will find fans of both, but the XDm will cost you at least $100 more, and that could be spent on practice ammo.  By the way, either is a fine gun and will serve you well, but if you want a carry gun, they are a little large, and a whole different debate.  Personally the M&P sheild is a very good compromise if you can find one.
  20.   But if we don't help the NRA, they can't help us, and WE are the NRA.  We all have to stick together and if everyone would simply send $5 it would make a big difference.
  21. I have purchased several guns and a bunch of ammo from Northern Firearms.  Great service.  Example XD9 ordered today in the 'essential' package.....$419 delivered.
