  1. the head twra guy SCN on tn deer sez legal. carried 1 for years, boat anchor would have been as handy lol, only had the chance to use it 1 time & forgot I had it in my back pack, holster got in the way in a climbing tree stand
  2. Hope everybody knows it opens the 9th & not this sat,I will be taking my savage smokeless to the woods,my home is smoke free after I gave my son my optima & capnball pistol last nite. hope all have a great season
  3. If its a split system that's way too much if they are not replacing the condenser unit also, if its a complete furnace ,coil & condenser the Freon lines will need to be changed in order to make sure the new unit wont be contaminated from the r-22 .they make a flush but I haven't used it before & don't know how well it works, a 90+ furnace with a heat pump is the best alt to saving $ in the long run.that would be in the ball park for the price around here or was a while back ,get more than 1 estimate.
  4. I think the biggest reason its not popular are the ballistics', the upside is no recoil, cheap to reload. Some states allow small game to be taken with them but the #s are to lite for me to consider it for a deer rifle
  5. be advised all weapons have to be registered with them before the hunt ,cant swap & say I will hunt with this 1 today & that 1 tomorrow unless they have #s ect ,good luck
  6. Very little public land in that county ,folks have pretty much got the places locked up for hunting & you cant blame them,I have not seen any bragging on any of the hunting boards I surf,
  7. shot a limit & 1 collard dove yesterday in a twra leased field in Loudon county,0 birds hit with only a few long range hail marys lol
  8. I buy the yearly pass for Norris, never met no thugs there but the porta pottie is shot full of holes.the grand kids get to go with me for free & have to be listed on the form,if you have kids they can be on there also.Your wife will get a discount if she buys at the same time.I have met a lot of great folks there & if help or any thing else is needed folks always offer.
  9. yep the critters will have it good this year, acorns & nut tree's have a good crop on them, all the rain has helped the hay farmers except for  getting it cut & rolled lol
  10. I put in every year for Tn & Ky,it will cost close to $600 for lic in Ky but would be worth it if drawn.no luck on the Ky draw & wont find out about here til mid aug.good luck to us all lol
  11. Good luck picking a place, id stay at a few places for a few days & ck out each area really well, drive around have lunch at some local places & talk to folks, congrats for getting off the left coast & I'm sure you will find a spot here to suit you. Norris is a small spot with a outdoor gun range that is easy to get to for very little $, add in trout fishing on the clinch or fishing on Norris lake & several wma close by & its hard to beat.30 min or so to get to the oakridge gun club which has a 1000y range along with any other type that you might want to try, I hope your travels will be safe & fun ,mike
  12. I squirrel hunt some with a ruger 22 target pistol with a 4x & 4 power is way too much in the woods imo, great advice on looking at a bunch of different scopes before buying 1,buy once cry once lol
  13. That's a great looking rifle,I have a stock 1022T but have not tried target ammo, minute of squirrel rifles like that ruin all others lol
  14. In all honesty folks need to learn safety before they ever think about getting a carry permit,Gun safety cant be learned in 5-6 hrs,The 1 thing I found lacking was a understanding of the legal system & the need for some type of insurance for personal liability in case you had to use your weapon, myths about make sure their dead so they cant sue you wont work because everybody has family &will sue you just for spite & others will jump on the band wagon to get weapons taken away from us imo.become a lawyer & practice law & then start a coarse that lasts more than 1/2 day with some solid info & facts from previous  cases.Good luck & with some research it can be done to make the coarse interesting & informative to help folks out.Alot of folks have gotten into it for the $ for the most part, just touching the basics are all the law requires at this time
  15. same thing for the Clinton walmart
  16. My Gerber BMF is my big knife that only gets carried if Im headed to deep woods, swiss army is my every day carry, camillis with gut hook & birds eye maple handle for special days lol,
  17. Im pretty sure the coarse can be taken online & then you need to do a saturday at the range in order to finish the coarse,a short drive for a legal requirment=a lifetime of fun imo,
  18. tick spray & they eat a lot of buds & such so keep your eyes to the tree tops too, good luck & have fun
  19. I have a weatherby 20g semi, great shooting very lite recoil,$500 a little over your budget but nothing else to buy,
  20. a good coat of epoxy paint will stop any rust from forming as long as its not put over rust, brush on is better for a thicker coat, also works great on ac floor vents ect
  21. linky no worky lol
  22. If the owner of the property has told somebody to not come back & they do the police can arrest them, having to file a order of protection isnt needed in the short term & has never saved anybody ,sounds like a bad situation to be in & keep the police involved & informed.Prayers sent
  23. I pocket carry a LCP most of the time but will OC depending on what I am wearing,I have seen a knoxville city cop go ballistic because my brother was OC & a couple of other officers with him had to calm him down.If its legal go for it,I for 1 will not be browbeat for OC & its a personel choice just like what you want to wear or drive. Also pick your weapon based on what works for you JMO
  24. I bought 1 in 20g last fall before dove season opened,no problems so far,ck your ammo with the heavy piston first, heavy dove loads will cycle with the heavy piston,Id by another in 12g if I needed a good 12g,I got the synthetic stock but would like to have the wood stocks also, seen some pictures & the wood looks really good, down side is about $250 more from what i seen online last year, hope you have a lotta good times with it
  25. to make it simple pu some of the power belt bullets,no patch needed.start with 45g of powder then start working up,at some point accuracy will fall off,my old rifle was any thing above 80g.i wouldnt load over 100g .the heavier the bullet the less powder you will want to use to keep the pressure down.I killed my first deer with a muzzle loader just like that 1  :)  ,60g & a round ball did the button buck in at 50y back in the late 80's
