  1. Welcome!
  2. He wasn't who he was portraying himself to be. And while it is sortof humorous, the last thing we need as a community is that kind of image, and worthless threads spiraling into oblivion. Trust me, if any of his antics would have been even close to as epic as Gecko45, there'd be an archive of it... but this one was just better to let slip quietly away. We tried to help him, but that really wasn't what he was here for.
  3. I do a set a month in the summer, got a pretty good hookup though. Loving these Michelin Power Ones
  4. I put 25k a year on mine Got this one this July... about to cross 9k.
  5. Private businesses or individuals can't post legally-enforceable traffic signs, so it's not really that much of a parallel, since the problem isn't the no guns sign itself, it's the accountability and accuracy required for a person/establishment to responsibly post it... it's as ridiculous as me being able to place a pink, square "stop" sign in front of my driveway and expect traffic to stop in front of my house for fear of being ticketed. But, as far as adhereing to postings go... if they don't at least cite or reference the relevant T.C.A. section on it, I don't give it a second thought. Life's too short to sweat fools who can't even word a sign when the state even gives them a perfect template.
  6. Hammer spring wouldn't cause it to double, since the hammer doesn't follow the carrier return... had to be an issue with the firing pin, or perhaps a bad sear releasing the hammer during recoil. Either way... guns are always best in the caliber they were originally designed for.
  7. Really depends on the manner which I was asked, and how the situation originated... At the very least, the server would get a tip. But, if I haven't eaten yet there's obviously no reason for my wallet to come out.
  8. Here's a wealth of info: 7.62x54r.net The only Mosin I ever owned was Polish, and it was put together better than most I had seen... Russian Mosins are supposed to be good as well. That's as far as my personal knowledge goes (except that my shoulder started hurting when I saw the title of this thread)
  9. Main transportation = 2005 Dodge Ram (Quad cab, Hemi, 2wd) Fun transportation = 2009 Honda CBR1000RR (Repsol Edition) Project transportation = 1983 Chevy Z28 (5spd, lots of goodies, crappy paint)
  10. I saw several 5.45 AR15 uppers at Hero Gear... and AK74 clones are pretty common, can't say I've laid eyes on one recently, but haven't been looking.
  11. If I'm being sued by someone I had to fire upon in defense... I'd work on my accuracy. But really, as stated above, in TN there is no civil liability if the shoot was found to be justifiable... I'm not worried about intentionally shooting somebody who didn't have it coming, but as far as accidents go, that's a good reason to have proper insurance coverage, and the number to a lawyer experienced in those types of cases.
  12. While it makes sense... I'm not a big fan of passing blame for a criminal's choices onto another person or entitly simply based on location. And when it all comes down to it, even if such a bill were passed, it wouldn't make any difference unless it affected the businesses financially, such as through higher insurance premiums... but since it seems most insurance companies require or reward 'gun-free zones', there would be no incentive to fear such liability unless one actually made it illegal for a business to deny a law-abiding gun owner from possessing their weapon. That would be as simple as removing the legally-enforceable posting provision, and force business owners to ask certain patrons to leave on a case-by-case basis.
  13. I have always preferred EoTech, and prefer its magnifier as well... but it really all depends on what you are going to be doing with it. It really may not matter. The Aimpoint seems to have the most versatile mounting options...
  14. Let's see... Springfield XD-M 9mm - Owned several XDs I was pleased with, jumped on the opportunity to upgrade to the newest iteration. Very happy with it. S&W 940 - Wanted a 9mm revolver, for ammo commonality, and didn't want a Taurus. FN FNP-45 - I have an FN Herstal fetish, plus this big-@$$ pistol shoots great and who can argue with 15+1 of .45acp? My favorite pistol to shoot. Glock 19 - The devil made me do it. FN SLP - Quite literally the most sexy shotgun I have ever fired... had to have one. FN FS2000 - Why not? etc...
  15. Good shooters... but not bs to admit their triggers do kinda suck. S&W did this last year as well around this time, and there are several local dealers with competetive prices as well (hint hint).
  16. I'll be there with guns on.
  17. I have bacon
  18. I've done it before with my FNP-45... but it's got a super heavy slide and relatively light recoil spring. And, the hammer was back. No success with lighter pistols, and wouldn't even bother trying it with a 1911 from hammer-down. Overall, it's probably just a great way to hurt yourself (pull something, or have an AD), for no real purpose other than looking cool. It certainly isn't going to be the first (or 99th) thing I try when I have to perform a single-handed reload under pressure.
  19. W - T - F ?
  20. I'll second the FN SLP... Not a bad idea to have a pump laying around as well. I like the Mossburg 500/590 series personally (cheap, durable, and no shell carrier in the way when loading quickly).
  21. I purchase usually from Georgia-Arms... Been waiting 4 months on a backorder of .45acp, just got 1/2 of my order yesterday, who knows how long I'll be waiting on the rest.
  22. I had a 2340 in .357sig years ago... Trigger wasn't that great, and I couldn't find any holsters for it, but overall it was a very accurate, reliable shooter. I'd be more inclined to recommend a P250, if you want a poly-framed Sig.
  23. I have an XD-M 9mm... and have owned several 'regular' XDs (including a 9mm Tactical, which would be the most comparable). I prefer the way the XD-M shoots, and the accuracy is somewhat better, the stock trigger is noticably better, the capacity is awesome, but I don't like the grip as much. As far as the XD-M vs. Glock thing goes... I have a G19, there is no question (in my mind) that the XD-M is more precisely built, and is a smoother shooter. Not even in the same league. I would say the same about the XD-M vs. XD comparison... so I'd be more inclined to compare the 'regular' XD to the Glock any day and call it a tossup.
  24. Racism...? Is that what it's called when Formula 1 fans and Nascar fans hate each other?
