  1. Subsonic ammunition does produce fewer decibels. My thought is the difference between 160db and 150db may decrease my hearing recovery time in case I need it.
  2. Just the gun itself goes for around $1800 used, based on gunbroker completed auctions... new you'll shell out a little over $2k, most likely. I have one for sale, accessorized heavily, with a case of ammo.
  3. Bike would certainly be nice for weaving through backed up traffic... but if conditions were inclemental, or you had to carry much with you, it'd be a trade-off. I'd personally prefer a 4x4 UTV or large ATV, if not just the truck I normally drive.
  4. It'd have to be pretty nice to be worth the price tag... can't say I wouldn't prefer an XD-M (which is lighter, can carry more rounds, and probably just as accurate), and a couple cases of 9mm, for half the price... But, I've paid too much for stuff in the past myself... so I can't blame anybody for wanting what they want, if this is 'it' for you, more power to ya. I would expect this model to not be very popular, since Wilson Combat probably didn't intend for it to be... considering the price point. It'll fill a niche though, kinda like the modular polymer framed STI 1911s (which are also expensive). At least they didn't chamber it in .45GAP...
  5. Ahhh... now there's the standard response.
  6. Wow... Well, the point of indignation (for me anyways), is that the thought process used to award this prize to Obama essientially nullifies any honor or respect its status may have still held (which is also questionable, considering past recipients). Basically, the award is a joke, and the whole world knows it. As such, what is there to be proud of? This, at least, isn't partisan... even the majority of democrats I have spoken with today are going 'WTF?' about why he recieved this award. Not sure how that makes anybody a traitor We all love this country... and will fight against anything which seeks to destroy, nullify or change what it stands for. That includes everything from invasive and unconstitutional actions a'la Bush, to Socialization and removal of personal responsibility & freedom a'la Obama.
  7. This boggles my mind... I must have been wrong. I mean, if Obama could so clearly secure his place as the most influential person for peace within his first 11 days in office, he must surely be the messiah?! ...or not.
  8. I liked the buckshot at the end... very nice touch. Thanks for posting this!
  9. I think they'd look at anybody weird trying to check in one, honestly.
  10. The Sig P250 has one of the best DAO triggers I have ever felt.
  11. Considering they pat ya down before you go in... good luck with that. I have personally gotten past several pat-downs while armed, I can't recommend it though, unless you are prepared to be expelled, at least. Shooting while in a crowd (can't be clear of your backstop), isn't a matter to be taken lightly. I only bring mine for the walk to and from, really. But posted... I never saw a 'legal' sign. No Firearms is in the little notice for prohibited activites though.
  12. Whew... I thought somebody found out what I did last weekend
  13. I didn't get any love notes
  14. Word
  15. I like to shoot 147gr subsonic 9mm for practice, best price I have found was ~$130 per 500 from Georgia-Arms... That's about $50 more than early last year. Plus it takes several weeks to get. It is amazing how much the demand for ammunition has blown up... I wonder if there are really that many more people shooting, or if there is still a bunch of hoarding going on?
  16. It's going to be better than FMJ... how much better, I dunno. It's gonna be subsonic though, which may be desireable for home-defense due to lower noise. Either way, it puts lead on a bad guy.
  17. My Google-Fu is strong
  18. They seem to have some: http://www.floridagunworks.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=FG&Product_Code=274&Category_Code=FA+B
  19. If it's truly a must-fight scenario... it's doubtful you'll have time to analyze it from such complex angles. You'll do what you have prepared yourself for, which hopefully is to recognize an unavoidable, serious threat and do whatever is necessary to stop it... and that means being prepared to follow-through your reaction to its conclusion, in the event they do not stop when warned, or finally when drawn upon. But, it'll happen fast. A serious threat, or disparity of force, would be anything you could not prevent from imposing serious harm on you, whether it's 2 or 3 big nasty dudes or a grizzly bear or a skinny crackhead with a knife looking at you as if you were prey. Only you can decide what measure of force could overcome you, if determined and intent upon doing so, in the absence of a firearm to level the playing field. But it's certainly a good question to be thinking about, preparing for later if you must articulate that fear to authorities. All I know is, it wouldn't behoove me to shoot an unarmed person who appears smaller or weaker than myself... even though there is always the possibility of hidden weapons or prowess in a martial art or hand-to-hand combat.
  20. You're still posting, aren'tcha? But really, sorry for any confusion
  21. Because all of his various aliases were just merged together and comprehensively banned
  22. Why are you talking to yourself?
  23. Tighter barrel to slide lockup, less frame flexing, and better sights. The hexegonal rifling of the Glock doesn't help either... Besides, even though the barrel is shorter, the sight radius on both guns is the same, so practical accuracy really should be the same, if the precision of both guns' tolerances were equal. And also, even though many prefer the Glock's trigger reset, the XD having a more consistent and crisp pull becomes evident in actual shooting accuracy, I know I have noticed it... The Glock is easier to shoot quickly, however, for the same reason. The Glock is 'trigger mashing' friendly.
  24. I haven't shot anything since July It sucks.
