  1. That's horrible! I hope the bus-line had enough insurance to replace their bus.
  2. Investment is never proportional to the return, when it comes to machinery. A $500 Rock Island 1911 vs. a $3000 Wilson... the Wilson will not shoot 6X better than the RIA, in terms of either group size or reliability. But, it will almost certainly shoot at least twice as well. Milking the last bit of precision out of a machine is a lesson in diminishing returns... it just depends on how much someone is willing to pay in order to get the last 5-10% of performance. For some people, saving a couple grand and living with above-average performance is more desirable than spending the money to break the 'exceptional' threshhold. Kinda like deciding whether to buy a standard Corvette, or a Z06... the slight extra performance isn't worth the exorbitant additional cost to everybody. But, who wouldn't pony up, if money wasn't an object?
  3. Not if ya' never stopped from the night before...
  4. Only if you hold it sideways.
  5. He's probably a rapid-response mall-security operative. Did the jacket have a pocket sewn in for ceramic rifle ballistic-armor plates, or does he just tape them to his back?
  6. I'm pretty sure that the reason was the cheaper ammo.
  7. Did you change the recoil spring to a lighter one?
  8. I was raised in church, enjoyed it, got alot out of it... but after several years of more and more eye-opening experiences, I don't have much use for organized religion anymore, at least not on a regular basis. I prefer a simple, daily approach to my faith... and more personal means of helping others. That's just what works for me... and everybody's different.
  9. Howabout a compact Witness .45?
  10. I'd really love to see one of these FN SLP guns in an SBS configuration... I love mine, but it's a bit long for anything but outdoors competition.
  11. They frisk you when you walk in, regardless of the reason... (they don't do a very good job, I can attest to that)
  12. Yeah... I had one for a little over a year, wish I still did.
  13. Remington makes a 14" 11-87 and 1100... Benelli makes a 14" M1 and M4. Haven't seen any shorter than that, probably hard to tune the gas system. But, if I was going to do it, I'd lean towards a shortened Benelli M1, which doesn't rely on gas.
  14. The only scenario in which I would describe Paris as 'hot' would be in her inevitable afterlife. Cute video though.
  15. I don't think Obama himself is necessarily evil... but if elected, evil will surely be un-opposed. Makes no real difference to me.
  16. Tonight will probably consist of raiding the stock in the basement for another can of whatever... I really do need to go to the grocery store, finally (only thing left in the fridge is beer, and the only things in the cabinets are peanut butter and ramen).
  17. ...not quite debunked, IMHO, but the denial within is just as credible as the original message... I'd say.
  18. A can of chili.

    S&W- M&P .40

I had one in .357sig, I guess before S&W got the bugs worked out of the models in that particular caliber... it just didn't run right for me, but I did like the ergonomics. I would probably be inclined to buy a 9mm or a .45 in the future.
  20. Pick a day, I'll drive to Owl Hollow if at all possible.
  21. For exactly the reason you stated. Legalities... and along with that perception. The last thing 'we' need is for a good shoot to be colored by the media because of where the BG was shot, or from what angle. Besides that, once the BG is actually retreating, the immediate threat to life is gone. This was a good shoot because the BG was no longer retreating when the victim used force (according to the way I read the story, anyways).
  22. Yes, until the BG turned back around wielding a weapon... then the money had nothing to do with it. It was self-defense.
  23. The only other thing which would have been more appropriate to cast this metal into would have been components for bullets/bombs.
  24. If he or his loved one were in the line of fire... I can understand the decision to engage once the situation presented an opening to do so. Kudos to the guy for not letting the robber get away. I would, of course, have a problem with the victim shooting the robber in the back as he was escaping... but when the robber turned back around, it was certainly still 'on'. There is no reason why the victim couldn't demand the return of his belongings/money, and have the means to prevent a retaliatory assault.
  25. As already partially pointed out... unless you were looking for trouble, when the shtf you will be the one who is surprised, and will not have any lead-time (otherwise you should have been making tracks away from the developing situation). The idea is not to 'one-up' the BG by surprising him back... it is to have quick access to your means of neutralizing him, preferably before he can make any reaction at all. I really don't care if a BG is surprised by my 'armedness'... as a matter of fact, I would prefer that he is well aware that I would not be easy prey, and decides against it to begin with.
