  1. While this is true, that's a problem with the individual officer's attitude, not my obligation to pander to it... there really isn't anything they could do about it except make a false arrest or decide to write me a ticket (which I would likely have deserved anyways), instead of a warning... Having an HCP certainly isn't probably cause to search or detain me, since what they are likely to find is legal in the first place. I personally would have no qualms with vigorously addressing any harassment I might encounter, to its conclusion, through proper channels after the fact. It's like being pulled over and feeling obligated to volunteer the information that I have a valid fishing license, just because I have a pole in the car. It's simply not required or relevant to the situation, regardless of whether or not the record that I have a fishing license shows up when they call dispatch. I understand what you're saying, but I'm not going to go through every encounter assuming that I'll be hassled over something which isn't really within the scope of their immediate duties pertaining to me.
  2. Wow... I have nothing to add, that says it all. Perfection
  3. I can't agree that it is 'always' a good idea, since it's rarely even relevant to the encounter... but I can see how it would be smart in some situations, if it was relevant.
  4. I wonder what this button does...?
  5. Wow. Humans are weird.
  6. It must be a compliment, since those were two fine folks. You pose your question as if you assume that because we have a great deal of interest in preserving our own lives, that we have little regard for any one else's... that isn't true. For myself, I will use whatever means necessary to prevent my life from being taken from me. If that means that another person forces me to choose between their life and my life, or the lives of my family... they will lose. It has nothing to do with how I feel about it... I hate the idea of killing somebody, but I hate the idea of dying even worse. That's why it is a last resort. I have never taken a human life, up to this point... and I hope I never need to. But if I do, it will be because I needed to.
  7. That would be a sure way for conservatives to alienate themselves from the community, to be quite honest. I don't see an advantage, other than survival in a TEOTWAWKI situation.
  8. If a thread gets too off topic, I'll seperate it into another thread in the Off-Topic area... other than that, we're not too keen on censoring opinion or loose discussion unless it's blatantly inflammatory. I'll close a thread in which the relevant discussion is over... but that's not the case here TGO rocks! Hardly any issues at all... I guess we just get along better than most.
  9. First range trip with my new P3AT was mixed... it failed to return to battery 3 times, and failed to fire 1 time out of 100rd. All failures were in the first 30rd... after that it ran just fine. All of the FTRTB issues were fixed by shoving the back of the slide forward, and it fired fine after that. The FTF was due to not fully resetting the trigger... but it did fire a couple of times from the short reset, I have concluded that mode is simply unreliable and to always practice with the full travel reset. I will likely look into an LCP to replace the P3AT eventually, unless it has no other reliability issues. Does the LCP have the short-reset light-strike problem that the P3AT does? To me, that is the only major oversight in the design. If it is the same... I'll look at a Kahr or a 642.
  10. The only reason I have ever bought online is if there was a particular gun I couldn't get locally, or if I could catch a steal on gunbroker.com. Otherwise... paying an extra $10-$50 locally is worth the service, plus trade-ins are more convenient.
  11. Had to vote no... I'll make it next month though.
  12. Haven't had any problems with the trigger on my P3AT... it's a fairly long pull, but it's lighter than, say, a DAO revolver. Recoil was far more manageable than I was expecting, too... it was nothing.
  13. Har Har... ok, I've got everybody straight now.
  14. It was discovered during the process... Idiots knew we had to open the trunk, too!
  15. I think it was important that they take possession of the vehicle, actually... it was more than just a courtesy to us.
  16. I'm not sure how it started... but it's like an initiation. Besides, Wal-Mart is probably the easiest place to find an excuse to go to.
  17. Had to pay my mechanics, right?
  18. I took a cheap class... but that was before I knew that the standard material required by the State is a joke, as is the 'qualification'. A class which consists of only those things is worthless except for the certificate with which to carry on the process.
  19. I wish that had been available when I had my GAP pistol...
  20. Knowing the limitations of one's choice of weapon is the responsible thing to do, I agree... and just like the rigor required to master control of the 1911's safety needs practice, the low capacity of the J-frame is an undeniable limitation which one would be remiss to have not provided for in the face of multiple determined aggressors, which is the worst credible scenario a private citizen may encounter.
  21. I've seen a couple of these... found one in a car that was brought in for work, when I was much younger, working in a shop. We just called the owner to come pick up, and the police was waiting for them after they paid their bill and claimed the car. Druggies are generally pretty stupid.
  22. Perhaps there should be no set age for adulthood... But, suppose one cannot get an "adult" DL, HCP, buy a firearm, buy alchohol, etc... whatever... unless they have filed Federal income taxes independantly the previous year, Graduated college, or completed a 4-year stint in the military? That would still have its problems... but it would force personal responsibility and accomplishment, at some level, to drive the approval by society of one's maturity.
  23. I would imagine that some baffle configurations and internal designs are proprietary to the companies which make them... But, it's not hard to come up with an efficient design with just some research into acoustics and wave cancellation.
