Can't speak as much for state parks but I've done a lot of OC in GSMNP and never had a single issue.  I have spoken with Rangers who have commented that I would be stupid not to be carrying out there.  Even the tree hugger types that may not approve of carrying a gun anywhere else seem to understand why someone would carry one in a remote location such as deep in the park.

Thanks for the info OS, Didn't realize the knife thing and had not heard of the ban during certain events.  I get drug out to Market Square occasionally and always carry and always have my knife clipped into my pocket.  I'll be more discreet for now on.

Since you asked about Bersa.  I love them.  For the money you will be hard pressed to beat it and the quality seems to be pretty good, I've never had a Bersa do anything that it wasn't supposed to.  100% flawless operation, even when it is filthy dirty.  The .45 is a pleasure to shoot but I don't really think that it would give you any advantage over your current set up.  If I'm buying a carry gun I generally like each new one to fill a niche that something in my current collection doesn't.  (Bigger, smaller, easier to conceal, higher capacity, etc.)

I did the pizza thing for a while and carried while I did, even though it was against company policy.   I'm sorry but no one is going to tell me what I am or am not allowed to have in my personal vehicle that is otherwise legal.  I averaged about $12 an hour which was pretty decent at the time.  I figured if I ever had to use my gun I would lose my $12 an hour job and didn't really care if I did at that point.   

I used to fish a lot for cats.  I remember in the Springtime maybe around April we would catch tons of cats up in shallow water in creeks when we were lake fishing.  I believe they were spawning.  That was the best time of year.  Another favorite trick was just after a heavy rain we would fish where small creek would come into the lake.  The heavy rain would flush all of the crawfish, minnows, and everything else out into the lake and the cats would come to feast.

That has always been my concern.  The stop watch leaves a large margin or error, not to mention that the distance is being measured from several hundred feet away at best. Additionally I've seen some cops that would certainly have problems with that kind of math, not a cop slam, I suck at math myself, but we are dealing with cops here not mathematicians. 

-You can  set it up as a stand alone system or tie it in with your PC, just depends on what you want to do. -You can do whatever you want here as well.  Just depends on what is convenient for you.  If you have a large TV some cheaper cameras are going to be very distorted on a big screen.  If you run a DVR into a safe as suggested in my earlier post you could use a long set of RCA cables to reach an existing monitor you have or just but a small flat screen TV to dedicate to the DVR, these can be had for well under $100. -After learning the interface of your system and how it works running cable  is the only tedious work left.  Camera mounting is easy.

I despise talking on a phone, can't tell you why I just don't like it.  After living in an area where my phone did not work at home, work, or in between I quit carrying a cell phone.  Now that I'm living back in civilization I still don't have one, nor do I plan to get one.  As necessary I do have a Straighttalk phone that I activate as needed for trips and stuff.  It just wouldn't bother me if my phone didn't work in a certain location.  You always have the option not to patronize that place if you don't like it.  I know that a phone can be a great tool, nothing against people that carry them.  Coming unplugged has made my life a lot simpler though. 

Practice has been around forever.  They may do it differently now but used to they would use a stop watch to time you between two points.  From my understanding it is very inaccurate.

I've been out of the game for about 3 years now but I used to install CCTV in retail stores.  I'm sure the technology that I was using is still in use but probably a lot cheaper now.  Here are a few suggestions off the top of my head.   1)  DVR is the way to go.  Get a big hard drive.  This is the heart of your system.  You should be able to select between recording all of the time or recording for a set period of time upon motion detection.   If you are just set up for motion detection you should be able to get a very large time frame before you are rolling the old stuff off.   2)  Stay away from wireless stuff unless there is no other way.  I've used it, you can get it to work.  Obviously the closer the camera is to the receiver the better.  Although many units claim they have 100+ yards of capability those units under real world use have an effective range of about 30 feet for a crisp picture.  These are best when you need a hidden camera. and can position the receiver in an adjoining room or the attic or basement directly above or below.  Sometimes if you are using a wireless it may be easier not to route it in with the DVR, an old TV/VCR combo with and RCA input and built in timer is all you need sometimes.    3)  Hide your DVR.  Ideally in a safe.  It will not do you any good if you record the people coming in your house and they take off with the DVR.  You do not have to have a monitor hooked up to it all of the time, only when you need to review footage.  Long RCA cables that will reach from your safe to a monitor would be ideal.    4)  A couple of good sources for stuff a)  Flea bay, yeah I hate it to, look for casinos liquidating their stuff.  They get the new top of the line stuff all the time and sell off their old stuff.  These are high quality cameras and usually go cheap.  b) Supercircuits.com I used to do a lot of business with this company.  They carry quality merchandise, have fair prices, and provide great customer service.     5)  If anyone has any more specific CCTV questions feel free to PM me and I'll do my best to help you out.

This is a serious issue and much like the gun control issue there is no way lawmakers will take a common sense approach to it.  Let's face it, the majority of people on the road SUCK at driving.  But will we ever make people become proficient drivers before issuing them a license?  Have periodic retesting?  NO!  We never will, because our own lawmakers would not want to take a chance on not being able to drive themselves.    Our system is a joke.  Two examples in my family 1)  After sustaining severe injuries after being hit by a drunk driver my grandfather suffered a stroke to his optical nerve and was left legally blind, as to how blind I do not remember, I know that he could see the shape of large figures close to him but that was about it.  Yet the State of Tennessee renewed his drivers license 3 years after this happened.  Obviously he was not driving at this point but it's still idiotic that the state renewed his license.  2)  My grandmother's sister mistook me for my brother face to face a couple of years ago.  My brother and I look absolutely nothing alike, one of us is short fat and ugly, and I'm the other one.  Even though she can't tell Prince Charming from the Hunchback face to face she still drives.  But according to her family "it's just around town."  Extremely dangerous situation in my opinion.  Her her looks as if she just drove away from a demolition derby.   It's so much easier for lawmakers to just lower the speed limit than to actually put legislation in place that would make us all safer.  Why are these people so scared of making a driving test difficult?

Thanks, for all of the suggestions.  I think at this point I'm going to at least hold off on a shock collar and try some of the other methods that have been mentioned.  I do realize and even expected that he might have some adjustment problems when we made the move.  Giving him up is not an option for me, I'm just not that kind of dog owner, I made a commitment to him for life when I took him in.  Just trying to figure out a way for everyone (including the dog) in this household to get along.

    I like this a lot.  I will be trying it.  Hopefully this will work, if not it might be time to get a shock collar.  I have no qualms using a shock collar properly as a last resort. 

I have a 6 1/2 year old Benchleg Fiest that I have had since he was a pup.  He has always been very well behaved sans chewing everything up as a pup which he outgrew.  He is very protective of me which has never been a problem until recently.  I recently got married and acquired a 3 year old step daughter.  The dog does not like her.  He will lay on the couch with me and if she approaches he will start growling at her and even snapping at her, though he has not yet bit her.  He has done the same if she makes loud noises in his immediate area.  The dogs overall temperament has seemed to change since the move as well.  He went from a large fenced in yard to a small kennel.  I walk him everyday and let him spend most of the day in the house with us so he is not cooped up all of the time.  Anyone have any suggestions as to how I can help him accept her before my wife kills us both?

Same here, daughter and I have the crud wife is taking care of us.  We stayed home instead of going to see my folks for Christmas.  Hated not seeing the family but we got everyone sick at Thanksgiving, I figured if we got everyone sick at Christmas too we wouldn't be welcomed back.

Easttown was out of .22 and .223 today. 

That is very ironic because I'm in the process of doing my 597 right now as well.  I was not going that extravagant.  Just coyote and I was going to do the dust cover and sights as well just for the heck of it.  Cheaply made as they are mine has a really nasty seam all the way down the middle of the stock top and bottom.  I've about gotten that sanded out.  My screw that holds the barrel to the receiver is stripped so I'm going to have to get another one of those before everything goes back together.

He makes himself out to look like a fool because he can't keep himself together.  I participated in a lengthy debate last night and won against 3 antis.  Eventually they resorted to name calling while I calmly quoted stats and debunked myths about powerful AR-15 deer rifles.  We must remember to stay calm when dealing with these people.  Calamity can make up for dropping the ball elsewhere in a debate.

I'm seeing it as well.  I feel like I live in a country full of sheep.  Fortunately I'm in a position where I can pretty much tell people that they are idiots and walk away.  I've already deleted several people off of my facebook that don't agree with me.

Yeah I know I have too much time on my hands.  Respond quickly before they come to carry me away.  I was undecided which subforum to place this in, so I thought I would just put it in General Chat instead of 2nd Amendment since it touches on government conspiracy quite a bit.   I'm going to go out on a limb here. I'm sure that I will be ridiculed by many and thought to be crazy by several as well. I'm not saying that what I'm about to say is 100% the truth, all I'm saying is stop and think about it and tell me why it could not be the truth. Since and including the Columbine shootings which occurred on April 20, 1999 there have been 29 mass shootings in the United States in which 5 or more people not including the shooter were killed. In most of these shootings many more than 5 innocent people lost their lives. After the most recent shooting many people are speculating that President Barack Obama will takes drastic measures towards gun control by exercising his executive powers. Here is the part where you will think that I've gone off of my rocker... Perhaps the United States government has perpetrated these killings. Throughout the last several years the United States Government has tried to get more power over its people. In my opinion it is their ultimate goal to have total control over us and our possessions. However that pesky 2nd Amendment keeps getting in their way. The first thing that dictators such as Stalin, Hitler, Qaddafi, Castro, Mao Tse-tung, Kim Jong-il, and Pol Pot did was disarm their subjects so that they could not fight back. As the saying goes "The man who hammers his gun into a plow will use that plow for the man that didn't" we will be slaves to our government if we give up our guns. At this point the government has the attention of the antis and the fence sitters. No one but the true patriots will defend their rights if an executive order is signed. There is nothing that the NRA can do to prevent an executive order from being signed. I believe that it is possible that the powers that be have decided that a fair fight against gun owners and the NRA is too difficult so they have decided to fight dirty. Is it possible that the government staged these killings so that the president would have a chance to strip we the people of our second amendment rights without due process? Could it be possible that the powers that be are taking our arms from us to be compliant with Agenda 21? There are many instances throughout history of governments taking control over citizens after they have stripped them of their arms. Why let history repeat it self? Will I get arrested for writing this? I think the 1st amendment is still in effect, though it will not be for long if we loose the 2nd. Will a team of government assassins kill me in my sleep tonight for possibly predicting what the government was possible trying to do anyway? Stranger things have happened. But, I really don't care. This is just an attempt by me, to try to get you to think, I'm not asking anyone to agree with me, all I'm asking is for you to ask if what I have presented here could possibly happen?  I'm wearing my tin foil hat a little tighter tonight.

I have refused to watch anything about it on TV.  Not because I'm ignorant, but because I'm sure they are trying to sensationalize everything.  I did confirm the story on a news website after I heard about it but that's all the attention that I have given the media concerning this situation.  I really do believe that when the media harps about these things copycat incidences will take place.  I really do think that Morgan Freeman said it very well...     We are riding a fine line between limiting what the media is saying and stepping on their first amendment rights.  Personally I don't want to infringe on anyone's constitutional rights anymore than I want them infringing on mine.  However, at the same time I hate to see the media sensationalizing such a tragedy while making the shooter a household name while all the while forgetting about the victims.

They even have one for my Browning BL-22.  I've looked everywhere for that.  Mods, could we sticky this by chance?
