1.
Gotcha. I'm a righty as well. I like the extra real estate of the selector, but I have pretty small hands compared to some. Medium glove usually. Thats interesting to know about the magnifier. I am in the market myself for a magnifier. I am looking at the Aimpoint version, but that will inspire me to see one in person before just buying based on reputation as I wasn't sold based on just price point. That said, how far back do you typically run the stock? I'm 5'9" with short arms so I can typically run them fully collapsed or one notch back so that may be part of the difference maybe. Just spitballing. Like the build and hope it works for ya. Should be able to take a few yotes! Rock on.
I keep the stock about 3 clicks back. I keep my face pretty close to the magnifier though. My arms are fairly short as well (I'm 5'7"). I can hold it with the stock fully collapsed, but prefer not to. I aimed af a couple things at the edge of the woods in the backyard today and the magnifier makes one hell of a difference. I am definitely happy with the purchase. If you get one it may take a while to track it down. OpticsPlanet is backordered until late December. Others are as well. I got mine online from Bass Pro Shop. They still have a few in stock for now, but they will get ordered pretty quickly. The last time they had them in stock they ran out within a couple days. The only crappy part about buying from Bass Pro is that you have to pay tax and shipping.
2.
Nice base rifle. No B.A.D.A.S.S selector? I would move your optics forward to the last slots on the receiver and move your iron sights back to the rear, but to each their own. Whats the purpose of the rifle, just curious?
I do not need the selector. I am right handed, so have no need for it. I mounted the sights that way because the magnifier much harder to see through at that far of a distance away from the stock. I want to mount the rear sight to the rear, but it almost renders the magnifier useless. I am going to shop around for a new rear sight. I can always just shift the rear sight if I need to though. I have a few reasons for having it. I spent 9 years in the military and carried one, so it is the weapon I am most comfortable with. I am very proficient with all of these type rifles. I also just like having one for the "fun" factor. I will also be using it for Coyote hunting as well.
3.
Thanks. I didn't know the brand. I may just have to look this up and try one.
They have them on Amazon for $10.00 right now. I paid $20 for mine, so it's a great deal. The only disclaimer is that they do not fit all rifles. It's just one of those things you have to try and hope it works out.
4.
Good lookin' rifle. Like the magwell grip.
The only thing I dislike is that you can't use a dual set-up.
5. When I got mine I took it straight out and gave it hell. She shoots straight as an arrow.
6.
So I imagine $250 was a decent buy?
Yes! Definitely a steal in my opinion. In very good condition, they usually go for $300-$400. You got a good quality gun made by Marlin. I love my 336.
7. Get some high quality optics and stock up on ammo. If you have a good quality AR it will be just as good if not better than an AK. I just now finally finished my AR. I also just bought 3 more PMAGS a couple days ago and plan on buying at least 7 more. I already have lots of 5.56 and I am fixing to buy another case sometime before Christmas. 5.56 rounds will go extremely quick if you ever have to use them.
8. I oppose it. We already have enough people dependent on the system. We don't need more. Just let em secede and become their own country. Now, if we could just kick NYC and Chicago out of the union I'd be all for it.
9. I am in Chicago right now waiting on my plane. I hate this city.
10. I can't believe people are so blind that they are still following this guy. Oh well, no since in pouting over it. I'll keep working until he finally brings this country to its knees.
11. It's over. Like I said. Better start stocking up. The commie and chief is fixing to get busy. Nothing to lose now.
12. I just now bought 270 rounds of ammo for the pistols. I plan on buying 500 more rounds for the rifle in a week or two. I came to this conclusion about an hour ago.
13. Even though the Marine seemed a bit assertive, the LEO had absolutely no right to cuff him...PERIOD. The Marine may have been assertive because he is a MARINE. The LEO was not aware of the laws in his own state and cuffed the individual just so he would feel safe. That is not a reason to cuff someone. You cuff someone to detain them for doing something ILLEGAL. There were no laws broken here. The LEO was wrong. End of story. Most LEO's do a great job. This is a small example of an LEO making a poor decision. He should not be fired for it, but I hope he at least learns from it.
14. They'll only riot in the inner cities where their numbers count. They know that taking their crap out into the country would be a huge mistake. They'd get obliterated within a few days. It'd be just like hunting really, but much easier because the prey would be out in the open running around and screaming incomprehensible obscenities.
15.
I sidestepped a trip to Detroit this week. I can relate a little. Wear a scuba mask so you don't drown in Oprah's tears.
LMAO, that one made me laugh. I'll just wear an Obama shirt so I blend in. I'll take it back off and burn it once I get back to Tennessee.
16. I have to fly to Chicago tomorrow afternoon. I told my boss I wasn't sure if it was a good idea to be sending me to Obama's back yard the day after he loses the election. Seriously, I'm not too happy about it. I won't have my side arm or even a damn pocket knife. Nope, not happy at all.........
17. Diplomatic immunity? If those UN thugs break a law they should suffer the consequences. If any American lawmaker had any self respect they would send them back to Europe and Asia with a size 10 American boot up their asses. The UN has no place "observing" a damn thing in the United States. Our Constitution does a good enough job of ensuring our freedoms. This gets my blood boiling.
18. Americans have become extremely complacent. A huge percentage of the population goes on from day to day thinking everything is hunky dory and tomorrow will be just like today. They do not know that this country, and the rest of the world, is at a tipping point. They don't realize that tomorrow they may not be able to go to the grocery store and buy food for their family. I am betting the farm that it won't take much for everything to come crashing down at this point. An Obama victory will certainly mean doom for our economy and some of our most basic rights will be challenged. Romney is not the perfect alternative, but at least he will try to make the United States a more friendly place to do business. I do not look for him to dramatically cut taxes or anything, but I don't look for him to raise them either. And at the same time I think he will take a more hard line approach toward countries that are hostile toward America. My viewpoint is that if you kill Americans you die...and every single one of your accomplices will share the same fate. We don't need a POTUS that lets our enemies pick off our citizens and not suffer the consequences.
19. They should sail one of these right over Beijing, Moscow, and Tehran. That'd be a good way to get the party started
20. I guess he doesn't realize that for every $15 million he will raise the NRA can raise $50 million. I wish this guy would just give it up.
21. Looks like Bloomberg is raising the stakes. He just pledged to start is own super PAC and $15 million to get it rolling. They said they will get the support they need just a little at a time, so they can fight the NRA. http://p.washingtontimes.com/news/2012/oct/22/nra-vs-bloomberg/
22. Sounds like it could be a young bear to me. Not sure though.
