  1. from TMF 18B: If some female decides that she is going to insinuate a small pecker comment due to the caliber of my pistol, then she should also be prepared for an invitation to test her gag reflex OMG, I was ROFLMAO when I read this. . .
  2. Will the match run tomorrow rain or shine? I am hoping for no rain, some clouds; but I am no weatherman. I understand a little drizzle should not be a problem, but what about heavier more sustained rain. I would like to prevent driving up there for no reason, but not sure what the guidelines are for weather.
  3. 1-day class, I could definitely get on board with that. Also, with the lower $$. I have been shooting IDPA the past few months and really enjoy it, but some good formal training to help me fine tune the fundamentals and mechanics. . .I would very much like that.
  4. understand. . .like a few others mentioned above the HCD is readily available is most stores in the Knoxville area. Otherwise, I would try online. . .Cheaperthandirt, MidwayUSA, etc. . . .
  5. any particular reason you want this specific type? there are so many better options out there
  6. Just saw an XDs at Coal Creek Armory in West Knox. $549 also.
  7. for range work, anything cheap. I usually use brass cased (anything). some firearms are particular about the rounds they run. Some run anything and everything. Bullet weight (for plinking) does not matter. Most FMJ ammo is 115gr for 9mm. for SD, again, you should try some in your gun. Same note as above. In my 9mm's, I run Speer Gold Dot Hollow points, 147gr. Here is a list of recommended 9mm SD rounds: 9mm Barnes XPB 115gr HP (35515) such as loaded by Cor-Bon (DPX09115) Winchester Partition Gold 124gr JHP (RA91P) Winchester Ranger-T 124 gr +P JHP (RA9124TP) Winchester Ranger Bonded 124 gr +P JHP (RA9BA) Winchester Ranger-T 127gr JHP +P+ (RA9TA) Winchester Ranger-T 147gr JHP (RA9T) Winchester Bonded 147gr JHP (RA9B/Q4364) Speer Gold Dor 124gr JHP Speer Gold Dot 124gr JHP +P (53617) Speer Gold Dot 147gr JHP (53619) Remington Golden Saber 124 gr +P JHP bonded (GSB9MMD) Remington Golden Saber 147gr JHP (GS9MMC) Federal Tactical 124gr JHP (LE9T1) Federal Tactical 135gr JHP +P (LE9T5) Federal HST 147gr JHP (P9HST2) Federal HST 124gr JHP +P (P9HST3)
  8. the grip safety on an XD is really a non-issue, IMO. reason being, with a proper grip it is completely depressed (i.e. completely flush with the main housing. It does not protrude out like a typical 1911. It does not provide any load on the palm of your hand. Additionally, the spring on the grip safety is extremely light; you probably won't even feel it. I shoot a Springfield XD9 (service). It is a great gun, extremely reliable and has great point/shoot ergonomics. It is striker-fired with consistent trigger pull each time. definitely sounds like there are some more preferences you need to decide upon first, but XD would be a good choice.. . .for sure.
  9. Please make sure you post this business over on the "Carry Prohibited Locations" forum as well for easy searching for others in the future. also, any other places you know of. Thx.
  10. last time I was at Regal in Turkey Creek, I specifically looked on all the glass doors and around the doors for any signage. I saw none, therefore I carried in there. I am not denying the tiny sign you saw, but clearly not easily visible; therefore, I would claim "ignorance" and continue to carry there.
  11. love the background music you included in your vid this time. very catchy! what you shootin' here? not your CZ
  12. agree. I always find Ganders pricing on 9mm to be $14.99 or more. Academy has some as low at $9 or $10, but what I really like is recently they had 147gr Flat Nose TMJ (Speer) 9mm for $12.99. Picked up several boxes of that for IDPA. Was at a Gander Mtn down in West Palm Beach, FL back in April. They had what they called "Gun World" in the store. Over 4000 guns in stock. Basically ever major handgun supplier, all models in the case, all colors, all calibers. It was rather impressive, but definitely no price breaks. If the Turkey Creek store does that, it will be nice to window shop and drool, but that's about it.
  13. My set up is this: EMP 9mm. 1 round in the chamber and partiallyfull mag in the gun. Loaded with FMJ rounds. When I go to drop the mag, I hit the mag release button and the partially fullmag drops about 1" and then stops. I have to manually pull the mag out andin doing so, the top round in the mag gets pulled out and drops down throughthe grip. No other issues with gun performance. This just seems weird to me. tried all 3 mags, same results. partially loaded mags or fully loaded mags, same result. When I insert mag and rack the slide to chamber a round, then hit mag releaseit drops about 1" then freezes. I have to pull it out by hand and the nextround in the mag either is shifted forward or comes out all together. Same whenI start with the slide locked back and either press the slide lock lever downor with slide locked back grab the slide and slingshot it forward. any case themag does not eject freely. after pulling it out, re-seating the top round in the mag then reinsert themag, it will then drop freely out the gun multiple times without issue. any comments? is there something wrong? **please note: I have already posted this on Springfield forums and did not really get any feedback.
  14. Hey Aaron, we were in the same squad this month as well. I was shooting the Springfield XD. I think you had another great match, this month.
  15. think i saw you today, but I started in Bay 6. i'll at least say hi next time. anyway, had a great time again. see ya next month...
  16. welcome back. today was my 2nd match. . .ever. I had a great time again. definitely, this is my new monthly habit.
  17. I agree. . .Freedom of Expression. . .the immigrants had the right to express themselves by disrespecting the flag. . .I (and any of my other fellow Americans) have the right to express ourselves by beating their A$$! Seems like full exercise of the 1st Amendment in my book
  18. To me, the Gunbuster sign is easy to interpret. I would prefer any places wanting to restrict carry just post the damn pictures. No words required. Kinda the same thing as the No Smoking Sign or No Dogs Allowed. Everytime I see nothing but words, I question whether or not carry is allowed. . .just like down at the Loudon Co. Clerk office the other day (renewing my car tags). . .big red sign on the door with a bunch of verbage referencing 39-17-1359 but I was still not sure if it was up to date and accurate. Had to go in, so just to be safe, left my baby in the car. If the gov't is going to continue to change the rules, I think they should enforce the business to update the signage accordingly.
  19. definitely too bad to hear about the guy any impact to CCA. . .will they be temporarily closed for any reason? just curious, i was planning on going there within the next couple of days?
  20. What are some good ways to store guns for long term without having a proper safe or hard/soft cases? Should I just clean them up good, oil them and then what? I know not to store them in leather holsters, but not sure how/what to store them? Any suggestions, please.
  21. XDm 9 (3.8, 4.5??) also service size or compact? I can't say I have heard many specific female reviews, but over at Springfield Forum (XDTalk.com), pretty much everybody recommends the CrossBreed SuperTuck for the Xd's for IWB (inside waist band) carry. or try a good tight fitting Pancake holster for OWB. It will still ride high and tight to your body and will easily conceal when your shirt hangs over it.

    1911's

    +1 on Springfield Armory. . .they have a huge selection of 1911's. . . can't go wrong
  24. Powder River Precision or Springer Precision have the most popular trigger kits for XDs. much info can be found about them on XDTalk.com
  25. Looking to buy a pair for both indoor range use and outdoor competition (IDPA). Currently, i have just been using the small foam earbuds. They work OK on noise reduction, but not convenient for easy on/off application. What is a good (or minimum) decibel reduction level I should look for? What are some good recommendations?
