  1. Actually, you fire one shot with the pull of the trigger. You fire the second shot with the release of the trigger. Loophole? Looks like it, but from what I understand, it conforms to the letter of the law (as it current exists). Binary triggers have been around for a while, no? I forgot where I read, it said there had been various attempts by various companies in the past decades.
  2. I really like the AK safety. Very easy to actuate.
  3. Yeah right, anyone can say that. What we need is Proof of Life! You know, like a little video showing that the minigun exists and is actually working!
  4. John Well's set up my trust, too. Good guy, can certainly recommend him.
  5. Great presentation, thanks for sharing. Here's another one from another sled driver: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5nSKLyrM1s I've seen several presentations from the Western Museum of Flight, put on by Peninsula Seniors Productions, and found the stories from the pilots and people involved to be informative and entertaining. Check out their Youtube channel if you like to see more. Two more good ones: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CeBu6mRDaro https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHjhgeyhuKk
  6. Only got to shoot her today. She shoots really nice. I haven't shot an AK before, so I can't make a comparison. But to me, it shoots really smooth. Barely any recoil (Having started on, and still shooting shotgun, perhaps my perception of recoil differs). Not much muzzle climb either, probably due to the muzzle brake I added. With iron sights and fogged up safety glasses (no fan indoors at OnTarget today, it was brutally hot), 3" group standing, 2" group supported (not rested) a 25 yards. I think I can do better than that. This was a quick function check. (Did I mention it was hot? lol). The v 58 is small. While I like the traditional look, I may replace the furniture with an adapter for a Zhukov folding stock and better hand guards. Alternatively, someone does make wood furniture for it, which is larger than the original. I'm liking that gun though, glad I bought it. Sorry to hijack the AK threat. I hope you guys will tolerate its cousin. Also, sorry for the crappy pics.
  7. Two thoughts popped into my head... 1) It will be tough finding a decent concealed carry holster for this one. and 2) Suck it, Miculek!
  8. Here the statement from the ATF e-File logon page: Important Notices for eForms Users Due to the provisions of 41F the ATF Forms 1 and 5 are temporarily unavailable for submission through the eForms system. The forms were removed to allow ATF the opportunity to revise the forms and the workflows associated with the forms to incorporate the new requirements of 41F. While we do not have a specific date as to when the forms will be available again, we are working diligently to bring these forms back at a future point in time. To view or use updated fillable copies of the ATF Forms 1, 4, 5, and the new 5320.23 (that can be mailed to ATF) along with additional information on 41F, please visit https://www.atf.gov/rules-and-regulations/final-rule-41f-background-checks-responsible-persons-effective-july-13 The ATF Form 3 was returned to the eForms system on 7/7/2016.
  9. Holy cow! Look, one of the black cows is wearing a white mask. Perhaps a member of Anonymous?
  10. Congrats, and welcome to Club Evo.
  11. That is my understanding and why I said " all form 1's and form 4's require paper filing". Even their web site said so yesterday. (can't see it today since it's down for maintenance like every Wednesday.) While not expressly stated or permitted, if no fingerprint cards and pictures need to be submitted, e-filing should technically be possible. The generated PDF of the application can be printed and mailed to CLEO. The certification form can be scanned and attached. My hope is that they get tired of lugging large boxes of paper around and will eventually allow limited (as the discussed example) e-filing. It is my hope, nothing else.
  12. My understanding is, all form 1's and form 4's require paper filing. That said, the background check is valid for 12 month, and you don't need to submit prints/pics within 12 months of your last filing with the paper form. That begs the question, if I paper-file a form 1 in April, with prints and pics, can I e-file a form 1 in August? I don't think that question has been addressed yet. I'm sure the ATF has their hands full with the current changes are the moment, but I hope they will adjust procedures and their e-filing system to improve filing efficiency again.
  13. I think you also need to take "access to" into account, not just use and transportation. If you are the only user of, say, a suppressor, you have to store it such that no other person has access to it. So if your only safe is accessed by you and your significant other, you might be in violation of the law. A trust that includes you and your significant other, will get around that issue. Even if she doesn't use it, she can now legally have access to it, in other words, access to the same safe. That's at least my interpretation and the reason I chose a trust. While my wife won't be shooting my SBR or suppressor, she does have access to the safe in which they are stored. In my opinion, it also makes it easier to handle the NFA items in case of my death, for handover to my beneficiary for example.
  14. Congrats! Since you still have 5-6 month or so before your Form 1 gets approved (if not longer, due to the recent rush), there's still plenty of time to find a stock kit. Get on the notification list at CZ-USA. Once they send you an email, make your purchase right away. Be mindful or "constructive possession" though. In the mean time, there's plenty of stuff you can do to your Evo to keep you engaged.
  15. Okay, I guess I won't be joining the AK club..... 'cause I brought home a CSA vz 58 today. 16" carbine with the fixed "beaver barf" stock (wood-impregnated plastic furniture, all colors match), original new-in-box with sling, 2 mags, cleaning kit. Looks indeed unused (except test fire). Paid more than I wanted to, but she is a beauty. Will get her cleaned tomorrow and broken in this weekend.
  16. I saw the thread getting closed, but I didn't expect them to revoke posting privileges. I assume you rechecked everything in the trigger housing, and tested it with just the trigger housing, not fully a assembled gun. That's certainly something you could do. Tear the trigger group apart, clean and lube, reassemble, and test trigger function with just the trigger group, not an assembled gun and firing. Something is definitely not right. I personally would heed Armoredmans advice though and have a gunsmith check it out. Might be the safer and more legal option.
  17. Well, the AK style safety is aluminum too.
  18. Welcome to Club Evo! Did you only replace the trigger shoe or also the trigger return spring? The HBI spring is highly recommended. After cleaning, tweaking and polishing mine yesterday, I got the trigger pull down to a buttery smooth 4.8 lbs. Enjoy your Scorpion. Remember, there are only 9 days left to file Form 1 electronically.
  19. That's funny, I just asked David about that very same feature. He said: "Yeah, they changed the friends system to "Followers" so that you can "follow" a person and receive updates on their activity. I'm not convinced that the follower concept translates all that smoothly to a forum as it's rather Facebook-esque. " I asked because I was about to add someone as a friend and couldn't find that feature anymore. It's too bad that feature is gone. I used to use the friends feature to highlight those I had met in person. (well, only if they were indeed friendly...lol).
  20. Thanks BigK for letting me shoot your carbine today! You got the TRS dialed in nicely. And I like the rubber plugs you got in the rail. Those provided for a positive grip while not being too pronounced. Of course the best feature was the stock. (I guess I'll get my Form 1 for Christmas. ) It was a pleasure meeting and shooting with you. Also thank you for the other toys you brought. The trigger on the Shadow is amazing. Talk about surprise-break. You just gotta think about squeezing the trigger and it goes off. One of these days we should have an official TGO CZ fanclub meet-up.
  21. It's not an invitation to a PM then. There's should be an accept/reject option for the invitee. Maybe a feature request? You invite me to a conversation, and I accept. I join, you are abusive and call me a jerkface meany head. I leave. You invite me back in to expand on why I'm a meany head. I reject your kind offer and don't join the conversation. You can invite me until you're blue in the face, and I would not accept, missing out on any camel references. Isn't that how it should work?
  22. I've seen it, and admittedly not handled one. But given how hard/tight the safety is, I didn't think it would be as easy to manipulate. The longer AK safety makes it very easy while still having a very positive click. I did consider grinding down the teeth on the safety cross-pin to make it easier, but I don't want it so loose that it's too easy to flip to the fire position. Oh, and speaking of Yetiwurks products, check out his new mag pouches.
  23. Never been there, but would like to check it out. TWRA it is! Let's continue the meet-up in PM and turn the topic back to your beautiful Evo carbine.
  24. You can either drill it yourself, or send it to CZ-USA and have them replace it. I used a carbide bit on a dremel and a steady hand to drill mine. Although it wasn't welded, I couldn't get the collar off and stripped the screw. They must have locktited the heck out of it. I cut a groove into the screw head to used a flat head, and after drilling/grinding down the collar, was able to get it free. Have a replacement screw sitting here, but kinda like the flat head. Alternatively, CZ-Custom makes a trigger replacement that seems to be cats meow if you like a really short reset. And it comes with a great trigger shoe, but is a bit pricey for my taste. As far as upgrades, the light/laser is probably least useful to me, but I was curious how well the laser would work. I might take it off and put it on my 870. Some folks are giddy about the barrel cooler, are even painting it in hip colors, but it seems rather useless to me (unless you have a select-fire version of course). If you want to tentatively plan on next weekend, I'd be happy to shoot with you. I usually just go to OnTarget, but can meet you anywhere you prefer.
  25. Yeah, the lowest I could find was this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003TWZFOC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It sits higher than the stock sights. I was hoping to find something that provides 1/3 co-witness, but oh well. Full co-witness was useful to get the TRS dialed-in, but it's now sitting on this mount. Which is fine by me since it's removed quickly should it fail and I need the BUIS. (I'm not an operator after all. ) The mods on my pistol are: HBI reduced trigger spring, HBI Delta trigger shoe, HBI Theta charging handle, HBI AK safety, Yetiwurks Everest grip, GVN VTS PTK angled fore-grip with thumb rest, Streamlight TLR-4, rubber rail covers, aforementioned TRS-25, and a Manticore 3-lug adapter. Once the forms clear with ATF, it will sport the OEM stock and a Ti-Rant with Triad adapter. Out of all these, the AK safety and trigger spring are probably the must haves. If you like to meet up sometime to shoot, just holler. Can't do this weekend though, but likely the one after. It be funny to take a picture of the pistol with a tripod attached. Edit: Uhg... Of course only if shooting an Evo pistol and an Evo carbine side-by-side can't be construed as constructive possession.
