It’s some kind of fabric. Maybe something to keep a sweaty cheek in place.

How come y’all didn’t tell me about this?

Is Breitbart still a thing? I cured myself of that rubbish years ago.

But if you put a windmill in the backyard and solar panels all over your roof then you can charge it up for “free”.

What is old is new again…and killing it. RIP Dusty.

A lot of opposition is emotional but much of it does have some basis in reality, depending on the source. EV’s have definitely come a long way in a very short time but are constantly evolving. We have seen the same with computers, communications, phones, etc. over the past 20-30 years if not longer but everyone knows those are disposable and relatively inexpensive in the grand scheme of things depending on need. While combustion engine vehicles are pretty much disposable, they can still be made to run for decades, as long as they don’t have a bunch of complicated electronics, or at least replacement part cannot be found for. EV’s are expensive. Regular vehicles are expensive. Not everyone can just run out and buy a rolling iPhone and expect to keep it forever. That battery is going to go bad at some point… and it’s going to be expensive to replace. Many older people who are retired or are soon to be there simply cannot afford to go out and buy a fancy new EV, much less have to repair it a few years down the road. I’d say many of them are set with the vehicle they’d got and may have planned it that way. There are tremendous amounts of people these days that can barely afford rent. No way they are going to find cheap transportation in an EV world. And all those people that live out in the boonies with no charging solutions are going to be screwed until they buy their own and pay the electric bill…or hope the local government and some business puts in charging stations for them. I see a lot of backwoods communities resisting that with a passion…because emotions.

Regardless of the brand or variation, real or imitation, it’s all nasty.

Preliminary report of the Texas House investigative committee released today. There’s a lot to process but one thing for sure is that kid was poster child for issues. https://www.cnn.com/interactive/2022/07/us/uvalde-report-full-document/

Modify your behavior for the betterment of society and patience.

People who back into parking spaces. Especially those in ridiculously huge pickups they can’t even drive forward to begin with.
-
People between me and the counter telling their life stories and going off on inane tangents to the person I need to do business with to make a purchase, ask a simple question, or whatever.

Don’t be farting around in the merging lane when I come off that on-ramp. I’ll be going full speed.

I thought I was the only one with this condition, specifically #1, but the rest as well. The same goes for people just walking…wherever…on a sidewalk, in a store, or a wide open space. Rules of the road apply. Oncoming walkers need to pass to a person’s left and not do this ignorant jockeying for position and dance of confusion or simply barging through on the wrong side of the “road”.

As the two are intertwined and this thread started with abortion maybe it should just be shut down.

There was a lot of potential for entertainment with that one. A shame really.

Get you an M1 Carbine, put it on the end of it, then it can stay in the house.

I am by no means an expert but it sure does look like an M4 bayonet designed for the M1 Carbine. Yours would be WWII made with the leather handle.

I think a lot of the “news” sources use the https://www.gunviolencearchive.org/ for their reporting. It’s not easy to figure out how they define things or cooks the books but from what I can ascertain mass shooting = four or more shot/injured with less than four killed, not including the shooter. Mass murder is the same, but at least four of those shot are killed. Then again, their rather abbreviated discussion of methodology does not exactly line up with how they present it.

You know those 20mm and 40mm surplus ammo cans that are great for storing ammo in? Don’t.
