I've owned 2 Mini 14s and I won't own another one. I understand from OS's posting that they are doing a pretty good job with them now, but the ones I owned, wouldn't hold a group for any amount of money. Both would start off good, but after a magazine, groups would start to get larger. Won't waste anymore money on them. Much rather have an SKS. Better rifle for less money.

Those Jackhammers have a pretty high rate of fire, don't they!!! :)
-
Bet you'd knock them unconscious with a Mosin Nagant M44! Probably would make it easier to use the bayonet that way!

Hey now, some us are old you know! Went to war with M16a1, back in 91. It served me well. While most of the Infantry units had a2s and M9s, us Engineers still carried a1s and 1911s. Didn't get to fire an a2 or a M9 until a couple of years later. The a2 impressed me! I thought they hit a home run with it. I wasn't impressed with the M9. I've always preferred the 1911 over it. And never thought it shoot as good as a Glock 17 or a Browning Hi-Power. Back on topic now. Seems like most home invasions happen to people that are doing things they shouldn't be doing. Not all of them, but most of them. I'll stick to my pistols and shotguns to fend off the invaders.

Don't knock a lever gun for home defense either! Pistol caliber lever actions (Marlin, Henry, Rossi, etc) will hold 9 or 10 rounds. You can get them with 16" barrels and they are fun to shoot. There are other rifles out there besides ARs and AKs that are pleasures to own and still do what you need them to do. They also won't alarm you neighbors as much, if you care about such things.

I tend to go with the more traditional hawks. I have a CS Trail Hawk and it's been a dandy! Stripped the head and worked over the edge a bit. It was pretty dull when I got it. I had a CS Norse and swapped it away. I found I missed it, but I wanted something with a pole on it. The Pole makes it more handy in the woods. All in all, it was a good $22 spent!

Feinstein 1995, wanted complete ban on guns
Moped replied to Sam1's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
East_Tn_Patriot, I saw this segment when it aired on 60 minutes, back in 1995. It was my belief at the time and it's still my belief today, based on what she said and the general tone of the interview, that she wanted to confiscate all firearms. It made me even more furious than I already was. When I see that segment today, it still makes me furious!!! Nothing she has done since 1995 suggests anything else. Now you can argue definitions and semantics all day long with me, but you will not convince me that she meant any less. That woman hates everything I believe in. She is not a friend to this country, the Second Amendment or any of us. -
Feinstein 1995, wanted complete ban on guns

I watching her say this. I've hated her guts ever since. -
No vote in the House on the Fiscal Cliff tonight according to the news. http://www.cnn.com/2012/12/31/politics/fiscal-cliff/index.html?hpt=hp_t1 Personally, I hope they do nothing. First of all, I wasn't for the Bush Tax Plan anyway. I thought we would have been better off to pay the national debt down and cut Government spending. Instead, he gave us back some of our taxes and VASTLY INCREASED Government spending, while starting to erode our Constitution and Personal Freedoms. Obama simply carried all of it on. If we go over the Cliff, we might actually get to see the Government cut actually spending, while paying down the national debt... I know it's a pipe dream. No way any politician in Washington is going to do either. But I can still dream about it, can't I? :(

I don't want to see anything pass. Even the Gunshow loophole is sacred with me. They can kiss my butt!

I own a Saiga and love it, but between the two, I'd probably go with the Marlin. In .357, they actually seem harder to find than Saiga's Besides, Saigas will cost you body parts, you best keep right now. :)

You make it sound easy, but trust me friend, when I say that it won't be.

The minute it looks like some sort of organization is starting to take place, search warrants will be issued and the Feds will be busting down doors. And don't think for a minute that the NSA doesn't have some sort of a clue as to who is doing what. This is 2012 (soon to be 2013), not 1860. There are no secrets among groups in this country. The Government will try it's best to crush whatever opposition seems to be forming, before it can form. Besides, let;s say for (s)hits and grins, something like this happens, who's going to be running the country? Is this disorganized mob just going to turn it over to who ever? Are they going to hand it over to the Tea Party or the Republicans? They going to bust up the Union and let the individual states become sovereign nations? Are they going to crown someone Big Kahuna? Is there going to be a Constitution? Whoever gets left in charge, I can just about guarantee you, will round up all the ringleaders have them tossed in jail at the best and executed at the worst. Why??? Because the revolution will be too dangerous to be left alone, to do it all over again, if some other people get mad about something else. The minute a rebellion starts, the Republic will end and will be replaced by some sort of tyranny, regardless of who wins... actually in the end, no one will win. We will all lose. We might really see the Blue Helmets come here and try to take control or at the very least support the current administration. No way the world will allow all our Nuclear Weapons to remain in a country that has fallen into anarchy. You all need to step back and think about what you are talking about and what you think you want out of such an event. The odds against success are extremely high and even with success, your goals are not likely to be achieved. I'm not happy about what's going on either, but I'm not at "That Point" yet either.

Instead of dozens, it should read thousands!

They tear the firearm apart and scan each part in 3D. They've been able to do that for years now. You know, I wouldn't mind a plastic or polymer frame for a 1911a1. That could be kind of cool! I wouldn't be transferring it.

I can't see people making actual ARs with these though. Seems to me the better weapon to make with these type printers would be small automatic pistols. I bet a low powered semi-automatic pistol in say .32acp and below would last far longer than 6 rounds. Seems to me that these would still need metal springs and firing pins to work properly.

I carry a ferro rod and lighters. I wouldn't mind playing with flint and steel. Where does one find flint though? For starting a fire I carry PJCBs, jute twine, dryer lint, chagga and char cloth and a small Altoids can set up to make more char cloth. I carry all this is a little leather. pouch

Safety for what? What does the Corp think will happen?

I agree with Spots on this. I think this would be good in a cache or at your shelter. That's a lot of extra weight to lug around just to be used for hunting. When you are on the move, less weight is better. And it will not do double duty for defense. However, I think several of these and 20,000 pellets or more would be very handy for hunting and target practice, once you get where you are going. While I have some things in my BOB for hunting, I don't really plan on taking the time to hunt while moving to where I plan to shelter. I plan on getting there as fast as possible, as quickly as possible and as unseen as possible. The longer you are out on the "trail" the more likely you are going to be someone's target. I don't plan on that.

Where did you find the filters at? I've been looking locally, but obviously not in the right spot.

Spots, I'd suggest you add some additional weight to your BOB, to compensate for not carrying the rifle.if you make a practice run. While 7 or 8 pounds might not seem like much, you will feel it at the end of the day. By adding the weight of the rifle in, You will know exactly what it will feel like. Are you planning on just hiking or trying to sneak as well? That could put a bit more challenge into you journey. If you carry some sort of water purification system (boiling, chemicals, or purifier ), you won't have to hunt for clean water. Any water will just about do. Giardia is a bad thing to get. Another lightweight item you could carry that might come in hand for catching food is a rat trap.

I've not been thinking about selling my converted Saiga .223, but I have been thinking about trading it for Ruger Scout. I have no problem with someone selling a Modern Sporting Rifle at an inflated price. I just think that those that are panicking and paying said higher prices are not the sharpest tools in the shed. I think prices will come back down at some point. Then they will spike again when it appears we are close to a vote on some sort of AWB.

Facebook becomes Big Brother, closes pro-gun accounts
Moped replied to mcurrier's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I have several Pro Gun links that I like on my FB Page and they are all still there. I think this is bogus. -
Oh, I know about the awesome properties of wool. That's what I usually camp with and keep with my BOB. But I would not carry two of them. Way too much weight to lug around. My wool blanket alone is a third of the weight of my BOB without the food and water.
