Personally, I'm not sure I would be worried too much about legalities in a SHTF situation. My guess is if you get caught carrying a weapon of any sort and we are under some sort of Marshall Law, they will arrest you any way.

The advantage of a bow over a firearm in a SHTF situation, is in hunting, not fighting. The bow gives you the ability to hunt relatively silently and not waste valuable defense ammunition for your firearms or let anyone know where you are. But you need to learn to make new arrows and bows at the same time, otherwise it's a limited resource too.

I think a bow in a long term survival situation makes perfect sense! Not so sure it does as part of a Bug-Out kit or Get Home Bag. If I am bugging out or getting home, I'm trying to move as fast as possible in the shortest amount of time. I don't plan on taking time to hunt. I carry a three day supply of food that I rotate out every 3 to 6 months along with water and a means to purify water as well. For defense, I plan to sneak and if forced to fight, I want it to be decisive enough to make the other guy or guys dead or at the very least realize, that there is easier prey out there, besides me. The modern firearm is the thing I will depend on for that. One cavat to that is I have been considering a sling bow set up for my Get Home Bag. That would allow me to hunt, but I am not totally sold on the idea yet. For a long term survival situation, I think a recurve bow is awesome along with other primitive weapons and hunting tools!!! Every member of your group should learn to shoot, maintain, make and hunt with a bow and arrows, too. You should think of extending that to atlatls, darts, slings, sling shots, sling bows and traps. A trap hunts 24/7. I love shooting compound bows, but how do you make one or maintain it if it breaks? It seems like an overly complicated piece of equipment to me. I think in a long term survival situation, simple is better. Just my 2 cents. It won't buy you a cup of coffee anymore, nor any bubble gum. Just take it for what it's worth.
Only issue with these guns is you need arms that are about a foot long to appreciate that tiny buttstock.
So your saying they were designed for a Tyrannosaurus Rex? I know their old, but didn't know they were that old!

Israeli strike on moving target, populated area
Moped replied to Sam1's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Don't forget that Isreal has manadatory military service. I'd say that a huge % of the population has already served. Shouldn't be too much trouble to put a gun in their hands when the time comes.
Nope, not in Israel. Doesn't everyone have a firearm? -
How do you know OS? Will a set of Izula scales fit on a Eskabar? .I was thinking they had the same handle. But my thinking isn't always right. They even make them that glow in the dark. Also, SMKW has the Becker Scales for $12.99.

Good job on the para cord. Personally, I would buy some after market scales though. If you use the knife to gut an animal or to cut up meat, you tend to get fluids and other stuff that will soak into the para cord and then you have an avenue for contamination. I think they look better too and are more comfortable. I'd also look for or purchasing another sheath. OS is correct that they corrected that issue a while back. Hard to believe it was dull. Usually they are very sharp!!!

Well done with humor! I liked it!!!

Buy a Saiga in .308 and convert it. Kills two birds with one stone. Then start buying ammo. You may want to look at reloading too.

FEG hands down. I love the Browning design! One of the best single actions ever produced.
Nope, what I'm saying is the same exact thing Rand Paul was saying for weeks before the election. This same issue is going to happen next election, and the one after there will be candidates that will be lucky to get 1% of the vote, everyone that votes for them knows this and they still throw away the vote.
In my mind, it is throwing your vote away when you vote for someone that you don't agree with or like. I held my nose and voted for Romney yesterday, when I really wanted to vote for Gary Johnson. I did that in order to keep SCOTUS as 2nd amendment friendly as possible. Today I am regretting that decision, since Romney lost anyway. I see little difference between the two men or the two parties. Both are only out for power and could give a rats ass about this country. Both will gladly run it into the ground to keep the other from control.

I picked up a USGI ALICE butt pack at Cherokee the other day at a reasonable price. Most everything he has is surplus and he has decent prices. He has quite a lot of uniforms.

Nothing is going to happen, unless there is some sort of economic meltdown. I think there is a chance that it could happen, but if not, we will all be voting in the next Presidential election in 2016.

Double Post. Sorry folks.
I think he's been doing a fantastic job. I'm a hard working American that believes in responsible gun rights. Not trolling, just sharing. It seems that most people who were pro Romney didn't see the fallacy in his economic policy. He Is out of touch. All of this anti obama rhetoric will subside when we see that he's been doing a fantastic job a the economy continues to recover and unemployment continues to drop
I respectfully disagree. But it's your right to vote for who you believe is the best person for the job. Best of luck to you.

I want to see what Rove has to say about Florida and Virginia.
-
Far out. Megan goes halfway across Fox building to interview the guys in the Decision Desk Room about their decision to call Ohio in response to Rove's ranting. Boy she really is one fine lookin' dame....don't get to see her walking around much. - OS
I agree! Very Pretty!!! In fact, the best thing about the whole night was watching her walk down that hall. Would have liked to seen a rear view!!!
-
Yep, he's sayin it ain't over till it's over. Course, he predicted a comfortable win for Mitt, too.
Yes he did.
-
i know Rove is saying it ain't over, but Obama is pulling ahead in Florida and Virginia now. Just don't see it happening.
-
Rove is saying Ohio is still to close to call.
-
It's over. FOX is calling it for Obama as well. Florida will go into the Obama Column soon and I think Virginia will too. What votes are left to count are all in Democratic Strongholds.
-
FOX is projecting Obama wins Ohio. The Fat Lady is Singing loud and clear. Obama has been re-elected.
