  1. I was looking for distance, but fireball is a +!
  2. Ok, which is better, the 91/30 or the M44?
  3. I've had both the Mossy 590 and the Remington 870 Field Master with the barrel cut back to 18.5. The Remy has a smoother action. The 590 is the beast though!
  4. If it were me, I'd try to find an old barrel for cheap or nothing and cut it down with a hack saw. Take a little fine grit sand paper to the cut and voila! 18.5" open choke barrel! 18.5" are expensive!
  5. If I could only have one, I'd pick... oh my, this is tough... Ok, let's assume this is a TEOTWAWKI event. I'd have to go with the Model 66. For two reasons. 1. There are no mags to be lost, which would make the 1911 in effect, a single shot pistol. 2. The Model 66 will fire two different calibers, .38 Spl and .357. Actually, it will shoot three, now that I think about it. It will also shot .38 S&W which is not the same as the .38 spl. That being said, I sure would miss the old 1911 and I would feel just as well armed with it.
  6. Wonder if we out to petition Joe and David to invite her to the Midsouth Guns and Gear Expo? My vote would be HELL YES!
  7. With all the anti gun rulings this court of appeals is putting out, something is bound to land in the Supreme Court where we will more than likely win! We need to hold them hords off another year and half and then I suspect that the worm will turn in Washington. At least I hope it will. I'd love to see a Republican majority in the house or Senate or both even. I sence the mood of the public has turned against the Democrats.

    SKS Night

You know, it sounds like he'll end up with a good deal and you'll gain a lot of knowledge. I'd call that a win win for a $100!

    1911 .45

I love 1911s too. I have a Springfield and it shoots great. Look at your pennys and decide what you can afford. Then select the best 1911 in that price range. From reading around here, if I were looking for a pistol under $500, I'd go with a Rock Island. But I've never shot one, so I don't know. The ones I've handled feel like a 1911 ought to feel. The only thing I'd knock them on is it seems everyone I've ever picked up had loose grips. Don't have a clue why. Of course that's the first thing most people change out.
  10. Wasn't there a Puma lever action? Or was that the Rossi?
  11. Never had a Taurus, but I did own a FEG Hi-power. I wasn't impressed. The steel was pretty soft on some of the internals. It's definitely not a browning. Trigger was gritty too.

    Looking online

You might have been thinking of GOLSN.com, but they no longer sell firearms. I think they ran afoul of the law.
  13. I've read Lucifer's Hammer On the Beach Alas Babylon A Canticle to Lebowitz And the Dies the Fire Series by S.M. Sterling No guns in the last one. The premise is something has happened to change the laws of nature. Combustible engines no longer work. Neither do fire arms nor radios or electricity. Most people end up starving to death especially around the cities. Good series! Swords and bows are the weapons of choice.
  14. Cool looking piece of history!
  15. Cool! I tend to agree with you that it wasn't an issued pistol. I think the army only issued 1911s and 1917 revolvers during all of WWI. That doesn't mean that it wasn't carried as a back up piece though. You see a lot of these old pistols like this at different places. It's something to hand down in the family though!
  16. +1!!!That's awesome! I've always wanted to go to a SHOT Show, but never had the time of money! I'll be there!!!
  17. They are great shooters! Friend of mine had one with a 6" barrel. He went head to head against another friend with a 6" Colt Python at 25 yards. The DW out shot the Colt. They then switch weapons and the DW out shot the Colt again! He had $390 in the DW. The Colt was around $900. I'd take one!
  18. Try reading Lucifer's Hammer by Niven and Pournelle. Amazon.com: Lucifer's Hammer (9780872234871): Larry Niven, Jerry Pournelle: Books
  19. The last time I was in J. Floyd, up in Sevierville, they had some Nagant ammo. If I had one, I think I'd go ahead and purchase the .32acp cylinder for it.
  20. I don't think there is such a thing as well laid. I never get enough. I wouldn't get enough if I got it everyday!
  21. Funny that the Colony has no firearms, but everyone they run into seems to. They had a traveling merchant pull up in one episode that had a M2 mounted on the back of flatbed truck. The merchant had a sidearm on.
  22. Not sure about propane. That could be hard to find over an extended period of time. I'd think gasoline or diesel would be the better.
  23. The blood and hairhave been washed off, I pretty sure!

    Zombie eraser.

Let's see, the ultimate Zombie Smoker comes down to two firearms. The Saiga 12ga or the Remington 870. Saiga is there because you can get large cap 12 ga mags for it and it reloads fast. The Remington 870 is there because it's ultra dependable!
  25. Asking someone to compare a S&W 66 and a Glock 19 is like comparing Apples and oranges in my book. If it were me, I'd get the 66. Glock 19s come along every minute. 66's don't. Never owned one, but I have owned a 19. Good pistol. You won't see them anymore. BTW, if I'm facing 4 perps, I'm in a place I ain't got no business being in! But what about a home invasion, you say. That's why God created the man that designed the Remington 870. Can you hear the CHUNK, CHUNK? Better run cause some serious lead is coming your way!
