  1. Just curious how many rounds of what caliber before you would need to reload or reach for another gun. I am trying to get comfortable using a M&P Shield for carry and then night stand duty at night.
  2. I have seen he same testing results, I think one out of 50 expanded to like .40.

    .357 Sig?

Most agencies that have adopted the 357 Sig have done so because it performs well against body armor and against stopping vehicles. Which is two events that most civilians will never have a reason to shoot. Even if you did need to shoot a vehicle, a 45acp is the ideal round for shooting through glass(heavy round, low velocity). In reality 357 Sig is still short of 357 mag performance, 357Sig on paper falls short of magnum performance. In almost all scientific test the two are grouped together so studies are screwy. One thing that is for certain in all of these test out there floating around is that all handgun calibers frequently require multiple shots to incapacitate. With that said I enjoy carrying the gun I shoot the best, the fastest, and the most accurate, even if it were a 22lr.

    .357 Sig?

I haven't seen any at Walmart in that last several months but I have seen 357 Sig as the only ammo on the shelf at Walmart. I have seen it with a hand written sign saying, "This is not 357 Mag".
  5. Seriously? I could go buy 6 mags and an assortment of parts that I wouldn't need anyway for what it would cost you to buy 3 mags for a Sig. If you had posted a Glock 23 saying it beat a Glock 19, I would have given it to you.
  6. You need to call GT's because I really thought their GSSF price was cheaper than $425 on the 9 and 40's
  7. I really want to join even though I can buy blue labels with my military ID. GT's will treat you right, Craig's is ok but they may not have but one or two models to choose from. With GSSF, the cheap Glock every year is only the beginning. You will get lots of paper magazines, a chance to go to an armory course for cheap, invitations to go to shooting matches, most likely will win a Glock at some point, all kinds of free Glock crap(hats, t shirts, stickers, patches, and etc) A friend of mine went to his first GSSF match and he shot 100 rds of their ammo, got his Glock inspected by a Glock technician, and they replaced one of his 10rd magazines with a new 17rd.
  8. If it has only been shot once you could probably get upwards of $1000 In my experience guns over $500 are nearly impossible to sale. Even if it is a great deal it's hard for people to come up with that kind of money. With that said, give it to your nephew and save yourself the hassle.
  9. I shot a Shield in 40 today, anyone can shoot a Shield. It handled so much better than my Glock and 10x better than my S&W Sigma that was a pile of crap. I am going to have to get one, I can't quit dreaming o the gun.

    Shield 9mm $359

That is great news, I rented a Shield in 40 today, it was awesome. Where did the recoil go? It felt like a 22. Honestly, this was the smoothest shooting handgun I have shot in a long time. I may sell my Glock 19 to buy one, the Shields are awesome.
  11. I bought a 2009 new while I was deployed overseas. I bought it thinking I was getting a nice truck. I was happy for about 3 days until I started to notice the cheaply popped together interior, thin fabric, and overall lack of GM to build a solid truck. I had it for all of about 8 months until a drunk collided into it, her Honda was built better than my pos. I don't know how GM is in business today, in that 8 months almost the entire front end got replaced to include almost every sensor because of the Check engine light, as well the transmission could not handle pulling a riding mower once a week. Did I mention that it would overheat? The rear axle sounded like a popcorn machine, it wore tires on the front really bad, and the dealer said that the ball joints on these bind under pressure. I drive an Exterra now, it feels like it is 10 times the vehicle the Canyon was, the Tacoma I had after the Canyon was better than the Xterra. The Tacoma's 2.7 4cyl was a beast compared to the Canyon's 3.7. My family had been buying GM products for 50 plus years, no one in my family has bought one since. Their quality is non existent, while the dealer(s) had been good with warranty repairs, who can give their truck up for a week at a time for repairs.
  12. I am guessing you are talking about across from McDonalds and Burger King?
  13. I had never heard of the Double Tap until just now. Neat concept but unless it is under $300 I would rather carry the LCP and forget about the primary and the back up being the same caliber.
  14. I would bet a Sam Adams that the witness did not show up at court.
  15. Good God! Everyone likes the idea of the Glock 45's until they pick one up, it's like the slide is twice as wide as it needs to be.

    Shield 9mm $359

I can't believe I missed that sale. I have heard nothing but great things about them, a few people I work with have said the Shield handles better than the larger M&P's.
  17. It's not, everybody thinks they are a f-ing legal expert.
  18. I too would love a small 357mag. I have thought about one of those cheap 3" Rossis from Academy, they are only $300ish.
  19. The studies I have read and witnessed indicate that 9mm and 357sig are marginally better than 45acp with body armor. I spent a lot of money and time to become an executive protection agent(too hard to find work), before that training I thought 45acp was a man stopper. Lots of testing showed me that no pistol round is effective against armor, take a head shot occasionally. I was told the reason Mathews couldn't feel the 45acp's striking his armor was because the 230gr Hydro's were too slow and flattening out immediately on impact. I have relatives in the Chattanooga PD and this shooting changed everything, Chattanooga had just received the 220's when this occurred or they may be carrying something else today. Knoxville PD, where my brother works, almost didn't buy 45's because of the Mathews incident. A few years ago, I was in stationed in Texas when the Tyler Courthouse Shooting occurred, another incident where 45acp left a gunman unaffected by shots to body armor. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tyler_courthouse_shooting We are witnessing more and more assailants committing crimes while wearing armor, because of this 2 shots center mass with one or two to the head are neccessary to stop the threat.
  20. I had gotten warnings of laser before but this time nothing. I was told photo enforcement is the thing of the future, apparently they can get thousands of tickets an hour.$$$$$. I talked to a lawyer about it and he advised that I pay. I was concearned about my Nuclear Clearance, but it doesn't effect it.c If I went to court and lost it would cost more and be on my driving record. Apparently the photo enforcement cameras are stronger than an officers word because they have evidence verify the violation.
  21. Make sure this story does not die. Tell everyone about this. The Zimmerman self defense case got blew out of proportion because they let it. Let's let this one make the news for years to come.
  22. I love my defense concealment kydex holster, but the Glock holster is just as good and for a lot less.
  23. I used to run a Valentine radar detector That saved my tail many times. I did find myself traveling faster because I had one. I used to get false reading in certain parts of Knoxville because they put radar signals on telephone poles for some reason. A few months back I thought I had been had, a motorcycle cop outside of Chattanooga was shooting cars as they past. My Valentine never made a sound. A week later it was in the mail 65mph in a 45mph speed zone. It was only $50 so I paid it. He was using a laser device that took photos, it looked like a regular radar gun. There was a link on the citation to go online to see the video but I knew I was speeding. It did say on the ticket Laser confirmed 65mph at 90 ft or something similar. I asked around and apparently with laser you only have 50% chance of a warning and even they already know your speed.
  24. There is a group of guys with Tactical Advantage Group and Coal Creek Armory that have taught most of the police officers on this side of the state and guards for DOE And TVA there firearm abilities. Their names are Mark Coffee and "Oz Osborne to name a few. I highly recommend them.
  25. I have a Glock 19 but I feel a Glock 23 has a lot more advantageous. I vote Glock 23.
