  1. The Jackson show is typically a decent gun show, as small venues go. However, like most of West Tennessee, shows and shops alike, milsurps are few and far between. I've had much better luck finding milsurps in Middle Tennessee than I ever have around this part of the state ...
  2. Shoot at bigger targets ...
  3. We are disinclined to concern ourselves with the opinions of commoners
  4. Turns out I'm a descendant of the kings of England, by way of Edward III. That also makes me a many times great grandson of Henry II and William the Conqueror, formerly known as William the Bastard prior to his victory over Harold at Hastings. Makes sense, in more ways than one ...
  5. It's hard to be a retailer without stock. I would guess others will follow the same path. Closing up shop will help reduce overhead and possibly insure survival, as opposed to remaining open with nothing to sell and watching whatever equity you have disappear ...
  6. Of course, should they hire Freeze, their recruiting might pick up. Hookers as hostesses might do the trick ...
  7. They're always boiling over about something, Freeze just happens to be the flavor of the month ...
  8. Is Tennessee back? They're back to looking for another coach, and are possibly back to dealing with another athletic department scandal. f they were involved in a pay to play situation, they could probably sue the players involved for breach of contract ...
  9. Many local libraries have genealogical societies, and most of these have people who can help you get started. A lot of that type of information can be accessed through the Mormons, as that's an essential part of their religion and they probably have the most comprehensive genealogical records in the world. Fair warning, once you get involved with folks interested in this stuff, be prepared to listen to their stories and lists nonstop. This stuff bores me to tears, but my mom was really big into it for many years ...
  10. AIM Surplus got a shipment in a few days ago. It's OOS now, but if you sign up for their mailing list, you can get notified when the next batch arrives ...

  13. You obviously priced the tiller too low. "Fair" is a subjective term, make sure you're "fair" to yourself first ...
  14. This guy looks a lot like me. Except he has hair, of course, and I don't refuse many meals ...
  15. Yep, not going there. TGODavid says no politics, so I'll abide by his wishes and bow out of this thread ...

  17. I think $6500 would kill it, and that would be top market value for it. Walk away, it will be a good lesson for the kid to learn, don't get hung up on one particular vehicle when looking around to buy. There will be others ...
  18. Well, there's always voting ...
  19. You forgot to mention feting King Wayne and his court ...
  20. "As far as "treasonous secessionists" goes, where does it say a State cannot secede from the union?" In the case mentioned earlier, Texas v. White, the SCOTUS ruling can be briefly summarized as this: While the adoption of the Constitution basically replaced many of the Articles of Confederation as the founding document of the Republic, nothing in the Constitution ever revoked or made null the precepts of the Articles. Since one of the tenets of the Articles of Confederation was the concept that the Union of the States was perpetual and irrevocable, and the preamble to the Constitution stated that the Union should be made "more perfect", the notion that a State may arbitrarily secede from the Union was incorrect and violated both the Articles and the subsequent Constitution. As one justice noted, a "perpetual union", made "more perfect" was inviolable and permanent. The ruling further noted that the only exceptions to this perpetual Union would be by a unanimous consent of the remaining states to allow another to secede, or by a successful revolution, as noted in the Declaration of Independence. In 1869, when handing down this opinion, SCOTUS also pointed out that neither of these exceptions had occurred, as the seceding states had not obtained the consent of all the others prior to their attempt to leave the Union, and their insurrection had failed as well, therefore their actions in attempting to withdraw from the Union of States established by the Articles of Confederation and the later Constitution were illegal and unconstitutional, as were the actions taken during the insurrection. To date, no opinion of any Federal Court has taken issue with this ruling, and the official interpretation of secession remains that it constitutes an illegal act in violation of the Constitution of the United States.
  21. New York suddenly became too corrupt for the NRA to continue their own brand of corruption ...
  22. Limos, custom tailored wardrobes, exorbitant salaries, private jets and European vacations are expensive. They need every dime of those donations to keep up the appropriate lifestyle for Wayne and Co. Edit: At least Russian spies still work cheap. Maybe they can hire some more of those ... Translation: We have no intention of cutting off the money spigot for our vaunted leader.
  23. My guess is that they began the changeover to the hyphenated numbering system in late 1969 and that your rifle was made at that time. Like Oh Shoot says, if you stick with Ruger mags you're more likely to have fewer potential problems. If you're replacing the stock, I would be interested in the original, as I have a barreled action that could use one.
  24. Jeff Foxworthy had a routine where he mentions this tendency somewhat obliquely. I'm paraphrasing, as I don't have the audio in front of me, but basically his point was "southern folks are as intelligent and accomplished as other groups. The difference is that we can't seem to keep the most ignorant among us off television". There's probably something similar going on with the Confederate flag, and other aspects of southern heritage ...
  25. Yes, it's been mentioned a lot. Some legislators are simply walking around the detectors and refusing to comply. Although I don't know for sure, many state legislatures have laws which forbid law enforcement or any others from impeding a seated member from attending a vote, I would guess that this statute exists in the Federal register as well. If so, any of the Congress critters who want can avoid the detectors at will ...
