  1. I'm not buying the hording reason for the 22 shortage. Yea, there are a few low lifes out there that are parked at the wallyworld sports counter at the right time to buy up what they can and sell it for 3-4 times what they bought it for. But I don't think that's the reason for the shortage. I remember seeing a skid of bricks at a store for cheap. I can't believe that manufactures can't produce enough to satisfy our needs.
  2. I'm not talking about violent revolution. It's not going to happen tomorrow. Our country signed the UN document taking guns away from civilians. They will do it a little at a time. But rest assured they will do it if we don't stop them. Here comes one of my long short stories. When my oldest boy was in the 4th grade, [he's 41 now] he came home from school as usual but quietly went right to his room. His usual routine was to empty the refrigerator, ware out the dog chasing him around the back yard, and pick at least 2 fights with his younger brother before dinner. finely after calling him half a dozen times he came to dinner. He was quietly picking at his food when I asked him if he felt OK. His response was " Daddy, are you a bad man?" Naturally I choked on my last bite and asked him why he asked such a question. He responded that "His teacher said that anybody that owned a gun was bad. Needless to say I lost a days work the next day. I went to his school and called his teacher out of the classroom and asked her if she had said that. She said that she had and that is was on the school curriculum for the 4th grade, and she had nothing to do with it except do what she was told. With my blood pressure creeping up I went to the principal with the same question. He told me that he had nothing to do with the decision, that it came from the school board. I confronted the board at their next meeting and was told that it came from the state board. I contacted someone from that board and was told that someone would be getting back to me in a day or two. Needless to say they never got back to me, even after half a dozen calls. Neither the local or the major newspapers had any interest in what was going on. Note all newspapers in Cincinnati are liberal. The biggest paper was owned by Gannett. One of the most anti gun medias we have. If you haven't already guessed where I'm going with this, our kids were, and are being brainwashed against guns. My sons have been enjoying the shooting sports because I have taught them how to.
  3. "We the people" strive to be law biding citizens. If it's the law we go by it. Whether we like it or not. And those idiots we elected count on that. I honestly believe that this is like a chess game. They are thinking moves ahead of what their goal is. Clinton did it. He said that they were going to this and that and this and that against our gun rights. Everybody got up in arms. screamed and hollered for a while. Then he only did one or two of the things he said he was going to do and we thought we protected our rights. After he did this half a dozen times he got what he wanted. Thing back to 1934. The government restricted "those gangster guns". Today you have to have holes in your hands to get one. In 1968 the "you know what" hit the fan. Since then Uncle Sam has restricted the types of guns and ammunition that could be imported. The day of the $65 AK-47 and $99 case of ammo is over. I remember when 7.62x39 cases were 6 inches deep in front of firing line at the rifle range. Today there are fewer and fewer people at the range. Now that the restrictions are in place, ammo and guns are being taxed to death. Fewer and fewer of us can afford to buy a gun. And feeding it cost an arm and a leg. The ATF gets a chunk, the state department gets a chunk, and the state gets a chunk. Why, because they can. The term we use is "back door gun control". Most don't have time to complain to the government. We are too busy making enough money to feed and keep a roof over our families. "We the people" are getting fewer and fewer. CT is just the start. Once the supreme court concludes that the state has the right to do something. Other states will fall in line. Then "We the people" will take another hit.
  4. With the economy being what it is there are a lot of hungry families out there. I like the earlier idea. Put a bit more with it and find a family that needs it. Or even better find a family that needs something to eat and take them to wallyworld for a reasonable amount of groceries. Tell you what, I'll put $20 with what you've got. leave me an address. 5. model and serial numbers should be available so we could be on the lookout for them.
  6. Sorry, I can't help you there. I have put a thousand of their 40's down range. Very pleased with them.

If you ever learn to hate that 686 make me an offer I can't refuse
  8. Had to see the show anyway. Makes me feel good to see how much those dealers love their guns.
  9. Everybody has their preference. Mind is Solo 1000. I use 3.9 behind a 124 in 9mm, 4.9 behind a 180 for 40 S&W, 3.2 behind a 150 rn cast in 38 spl, and " I'd have to go look " for 45 acp. Very consistent, very clean, low charge weight to velocity ratio. It ain't broke, I'm not going to fix it. I use Varget for 223 and 308. As far as primers go, I like Winchester but the Russian primers work OK too. Only thing is whatever one you use make sure that It is bottomed out in the pocket. I've seen way too many misfires at the club from high primers.
  10. What you're saying makes since. I'll be interested to hear how this turns out.
  11. Boy! is that a burn. I got it from David for $23.I did see it two other places in the show for over $32#. I don't mind a dealer making a profit. But I don't want to walk away with the feeling that I just put one of his kids through school.
  12. If you are loading a magnum pistol with the bullets you need a groove to roll crimp into. I'd love to hear how this goes. I've been tossing this no grease groove thing around in my mind since the first I heard of it. Is that too much bearing surface on the riflings? How much will that raise the chamber pressures? Do you need that groove for a better flow of the metal/lube? How will no groove effect the accuracy from shot to shot?
  13. I got the last little bit that David had at the last gun show. But he's pretty good at replacing his stock. Maybe he'll let you know when he gets it in.
  14. The rockchucker kit is everything you need to get started less dies and shell holders. That press has all the leverage you will need. I like Hornady dies. They have a coating on the inside of the sizing die so won't need to get carbide size dies. They also have a collet inside the bullet seating die that really helps control the bullet while seating it.
  15. I recommend the RCBS Rockchucker master reloading kit. It has everything you will need less dies and shell holders for the various calibers you wish to reload. You probably will advance to a progressive press in a year or so but you won't sell this press off. The leverage the rockchucker has is needed for other tasks that can't ne done on a progressive loader. Ive been using my Dillon 650 for years but still get out my rockchucker to do stuff 3-4 times a year.
  16. In the last 3 years I've purchased an M&P pro in 9, a M&P 40, and a shield in 9. Not one hic-cup out of any of them. I do hose a new gun out with a half a can of wd-40 and grease everything up with synthetic grease before I shoot it.
  17. +1 on ORSA. I've been a member there for 3 years. Great ranges. Even got a 1000 yd. range. Skeet, trap, action pistol, indoor rimfire and pistol range. Hell of a complex for $120 a year.
  18. I was resisting the temptation  to badmouth Lee products but since it's started, I don't care for the quality there either.   I suggested the RCBS rockchucker combo because it has everything except dies and shell holders. For nonproduction dies I prefer Hornady. They have a floating collar inside the bullet seating die. So you won't have a hard time with short bullets like 22 cal dropping sideways inside the die, They also have coated resize dies so you get the same effect as carbide without the price.   Now that I have my 650 I do almost all my loading on that. But in the last year I have drug out the rockchucker to form 8mm mauser  cases from 30/06,swaged primer pockets, trimmed cases with the motorized trimmer I bought from Dillon, and ran a bunch of 40's through the Redding G-RX size die. I don't think a Lee aluminum press would stand up to the kind of pressure I need to do that stuff.
  19. I've helped quit a few shooters learn to reload. The press that I recommend to them is the rockchucker master reloading kit. It has great leverage and will last you a lifetime. Starting with a progressive press is " IMO " is a mistake. You need to learn to feel the press and learn each of the steps first. Then go to a progressive press. Even after you've sprung the bucks for a big press like a Dillon 650 you will still go back and use your rockchucker to do a few things.
  20. I've been using the military equivalent of H-110 [Magnum pistol powder] for a long time. It will burn clean if you compress the power load and crimp the case mouth pretty well.
  21. Started collecting 5 gallon buckets with lids from the flea market 2/$5. They work and stack great. You never have too much brass. It is going to be the next currency thanks to the gun salesman of the year, our president.
  22. Wow! this has been interesting. 100% against pellets and 100% for wood. Thanks guys. Bonnie gets to keep her look at only stove and I get to save about a grand. Humm I may get a new toy out of the deal.
  23. We've been here almost 4 years now. Came from Ohio where it gets a lot colder than it does here. Have almost got the first floor done. Wife bought a wood stove just for giggles for the living room. There is a chimney just outside there and a flue leading into the living room. I was thinking about maybe putting a pellet stove there and piping it out the chimney just in case. Now, with all that said, do you think it's cheaper heat than a heat pump?
  24. How about taking that hundred bucks and using it for a down payment on a pellet stove. Nobody has brought that up.
