Yeah Hal is a good guy, but his prices are, well....optimistic. Will leave it at that. Even worse is across the river in Hixson. The Sportsman's supply is selling a Bersa Thunder .380 for $369.99. Got one just like it for $190 at a gun show.

Wikipedia.com is pretty good CLICK HERE

Not if you are past 100 yards...22lr doesn't have enough gusto. Faster the bullet...more area it travels as it drops. That cartridge is made for sitting at the edge of a field one Sat morning and wiping anything out in a 50 - 600 yard range. Yeah it is expensive, but most varmenters are handloaders. I could load 100 of those things for around $20. .30 o6 is rare for this type shooting....223, 204, .22-250, or .220 swift are much more common.

.38 Special Mastercast DEWC 100 grain. 3.0 grains Bullseye .357 Magnum 158 Grain Laser Cast. 13.5 grains 2400 9mm 122 Grain Meiser 5.0 Grains Unique .44 Mag 240 HP 23.0 Grains 2400 Ruger only!!! Could go on and on, but those are by far my favourites.

That is easy...not sure why they chose .30-06 but it gives a much flatter trajectory for groundhogs and other ground rats. I can get 3600 with my .25-06 using 70 grainers. I have a point zero on the scope at 275 yards. Could go higher, but barrel life suffers. .204 Ruger or .22-250 can do 4000fps all day long.

Gander Mountain and all the dopes who run the place are useless. They recently had a .44 Bisley Hunter for $750...bought one at a rather overpriced local shop for $550.

YIKES!!! I'll bet the mind was running 900mph that night!

Holy cow you guys are right... CLICK HERE Wonder why mine doesn't?!?! it is older than 86, but one would thing it wouldn't matter!?!? Bought it used a while back. I believe that they were some made by marlin, but sold through other outlets (Like Western Auto) Maybe that is the difference. Any Marlin gurus out there that knows when they started this?

That gun does not lock back into position after the last shot or during storage. They simply are not made to and can not be made to. Creates some problems during competitions or "Cold" ranges where the bolts must be held open...in that case you simply get a breech flag or big zip tie as a visual indicator of being "Unloaded" Out of the box these are the plinking bargains of the rimfire world...they have a rough trigger, but shoot very well for the amount of $$$ they require to own.

Extractor for a .22 Ruger standard
I_Like_Pie replied to memphismason's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Midway and Ruger will both have them for under $6 shipped. Make sure to assemble disassemble them in a 1 gallon zip-loc bag in case parts go flying!!! Wear eye protection also. Take it apart using a screwdriver to push down the spring and carefully pull the extractor out. You won't need any special tools to put it back together either...just put the plunger and spring in and push the extractor down in there...it will catch into place. The extractors for the MK I, II, III, 22/45, 10/22, and charger are exactly the same part and will readily interchange. -
Whats the weirdest thing you've ever seen at the range?
I_Like_Pie replied to a topic in General Chat
There is a Santa Claus hanging from the silhouettes and a blow up doll at the CRC plinking range. -
Check out a GP 100. The S&W and Colt guns are great too, but you will spend more $. Buy a pistol safe for $60 at wal mart and bolt it to the back of the headboard of your bed. Can unlock it with a fingerprint, combination, or key. If you are thinking about CC or a car gun...look at the Ruger SP101 or an Airweight .357 S&W. Simpler is better and unless you plan on shooting the snot out of it...a revolver will serve you well.

Cause that is what it is all about...screwing. Good grief the young'uns can't win for losing with some folks. The thread started complaining how useless that young people are and we bring up a guy who is 19 who is bright enough to do something that 90% of the old geezers couldn't do. ..and we blast him for being to young to have screwed a lot of women?!? I am somewhat at a loss for words here...however the sarcasm meter is acting a bit crazy.

That is easy...Get the most powerful thing that fits your hand and that you can shoot well. A .38/357 Revolver on a full/mid size frame is an excellent choice as it can do double duty as a plinker, hunter, trainer, or fire breathing self defence gun. The semi-autos are a good choice too if you get a reputable manufacturer...Glock, sig, Springfield, etc.

Bit torrent....it is your friend.

Awsome...that means that there are exactly two people with a mutual agreement in this thread.

Regular schmoes like you and me can not legally own machineguns without paying a $200 tax stamp and giving out way too much information to the gov. This is due to NFA of 1934. Another similar act in 1986 made it illegal to own any machinegun manufactured after 1986. That was 22 years ago and those pre '86 guns are starting to get rarer than hens teeth...supply and demand has bumped them to crazy levels. The trigger group is what officially makes it a machine gun. What you are really buying here is that pre-84 legal trigger...with a 10/22 attached to it. They burn through a 10 round magazine F-A-S-T! I'll bet everyone is kicking themselves for not buying these by the truckload in the early 80's

There is some truth to that...there are some real go getters and there are some real losers. The difference that I see is that there isn't much middle ground.

Yup...on a rainy day like today...this is the best place to be. Trying to figure out the best Alliant 2400 load for some 350gr. 45/70s. Down to about 15,000 lead bullets these days...kinda low on lead due to the stupid prices (Thus explaining why I buy so many .22lr). We cast a lot at my pop's place across town. Get about 3 or 4 friends over for reloading party every now and then...despite no progressive press...you can crank out quality ammo FAST with 2 good presses and people who know what they are doing.
-
Folks...I know as many people x > 30 as I do x < 30 who are down right idiots. The only difference is that the younger crowd still has a chance to redeem themselves.

Will last about 2 years at me and my family's current rate. It really isn't that much if you shoot a lot...many folks shoot that much in .45 to practice for bullseye and such. We actually plink a lot at the CRC...bring a lot of friends, introduce a lot of people to shooting, etc... Pretty easy to consume 12,000 a year if you are there 4 or 5 times a month. That is the closet...you should see the reloading room.

Instructors....anybody familiar with this ?
I_Like_Pie replied to BigPoppa's topic in Training Discussions
Crimson Trace has a similar program...great prices!!! -
Great gun...would bet my life on it no problem. Check out gunblast.com's archives for several reviews. It is a bit heavy, but the CCW version is my #2 pick for packing.
