  1. I am pretty sure that a lever and stock from a different action is a "doable" thing. Have turned a pistol grip 39A in to a "mountie" version. I also know that the action on my 1895 is very, very similar to the 336. Check Paco Kelly or Marlin forum.
  2. That action type...depending on condition can pull anywhere from $300-$500
  3. Which one...I might have to frequent it more often.
  4. The one thing I don't like about the Colibri is that it smells awful...don't know what the primers are made of (probably toxic something) but they stink. Also...interestingly the CCI CB longs do actually have a bit of powder in them.
  5. Junk...you should therefore send it to me and I will put it in its proper place /congrats...N-I-C-E guns.
  6. It is a lie propagated by people who don't like Wal-Mart. Ammo manufacturers (at least the ones that I have visited) don't have separate lines for good and crappy ammo...it just isn't the way things work. It is SAMMI spec or it doesn't leave the shop. Also...even if they did there is NO, zero, zip advantage of using virgin brass over once fired.

    best .22 handgun

In a silhouette shoot I would put my Ruger MKII with the best of them...money no object... (simply because it fits me. That is the x factor in the equation) However there is a special place in my heart for the single six...Followed closely by an "old" S&W kit gun.
  8. If you guys like that stuff...then fark.com comments should put you in paradise. On a small forum however...it is pretty caustic
  9. It won't be for target shooting as a penny is hard to see unless the sun hits it right at 100 yards with 7x, but you could hit a coke can at that distance every time no problem. For all practical purposes I think 2-7 is just about right for a 45/70. Could get you a deer/pig from 0-200 yards with enough velocity. I like it because of the 2x rather than the 7x...that and it is light and compact. I do have to say that the "Scout" configuration in a earlier post is much cooler option if you don't mind paying a little more for a pistol scope.
  10. Yes...I miss Darr's Shop. In December I picked up 2000 - 300 grain lead .430 Bull-x Bullets. Will never see that deal again!
  11. Thought this was interesting...City Council basically gave the go ahead to shoot coyotes within the Chattanooga City limits. CLICK HERE Brought up another interesting point...it apparently, despite what I have seen in the city charter, legal to discharge a gun within city limits. I didn't know this and it seems nobody else did either. I am sure that on "Opinion" article will pop up in the next day or do.
  12. Here is "Thumper" Marlin 1895g wearing a Leupold 2-7 and a custom sling. It really sings with a 405 grain bullet at 1650fps. Wouldn't think that it would be a shooter from the looks of it either...can make all of the holes touch at 50 yards.
  13. Yeah he is a member of Rugerforum...we did some quickload data runs and estimate that it was a 75,000PSI charge. Didn't hurt him at all.
  14. Wal-Mart for about $6
  15. .338 Lapua from across the Cumberland river!!!!
  16. Next time I drive through there I might bring the .30 carbine Blackhawk if they will let me shoot it in there...just to see the jaws drop. /Never shot a louder, more fire-breathing pistol.
  17. If you are gonna hang it out the window and rid yourself of an annoying critter...a 1000fps .22lr right in the eye would work well. nobody would know where it came from. If you are being attacked...well that is another story. I have spent some time there an too noticed a couple of problem dogs. Not sure how many Raccoon or Opossum are round there, but some baited poison in the middle of one of those grass fields might do the job.
  18. The 3rd generation S&W is the most robust pistol I have ever shot. Losing it is like losing an old pickup truck. However...don't worry. You just traded a Ford for a Ferrari.
  19. Wow...I figured that the vast majority of you guys would be reloaders?!?!
  20. Kel-Tec will make things right I almost 100% guarantee. Good thing is that it is a rifle and you can send it back to them for under $15.
  21. I came just to say the same thing...that is one of the ugliest man-made devices I have ever seen. 15 years ago they made water guns that were similar with hopes that nobody would mistake them for an actual firearm. XD...the Pontiac Aztec of firearms. (or the fat chick) Sure are fun, but not really easy on the eyes.
  22. I could, with that thing, expend an entire days work in about 4 seconds...which is exactly 26 seconds less than it takes me to make sweet, sweet chipmunk love to a beautiful woman.
  23. It is basically a clone (a la 1911) of a Kel-Tec P3AT. It IS a pretty neat little gun, but there is WAY too much hype for this gun IMHO.
  24. Yes...there is no problem doing this at all single fed. The .22 longs (often seen as CCI CB Longs) will feed through the magazine just fine. Don't try .22 Shorts in the mag as they will jamb...Brownells actually sells a modified magazine in case you want to shoot shorts in it. It is made for a 10/22 but will still work aside from the magazine profile not matching the stock. If you have a 77/22 Magnum...it will NOT work as there is actually a .001 to 0.002 difference in diameter and anything L.R. is smaller will cause dangerous conditions in the gun via split cases and blowback.
  25. I have heard that story too. Also the 4 wheelers riding around back there are kinda make ya wonder if they know it is a range or not.
