  1. Damn, I feel slightly overwhelmed. I am ordering my press(kit), dies, 223 gauge, wax, and a 223 holder tonight to get started. I am in no hurry, but I just needed a list to get me started. It's hard to judge the items that you must have to begin reloading. I will deprime all my range collected brass then buy my tumbler and media at a later date. I will also purchase my trimmer later. I appreciate the help in getting my feet on the ground. I will definately be in-touch as I get ready to reload my first few rounds. Thanks Rightwinger!
  2. No problem Rightwinger. Glad to help. I do have a question about a my future press. I am about to order the RCBS Rock Chucker Master kit from Midwayusa. http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=646599 If I going to start reloading 223 REM, what additional parts will I need? It doesn't appear to come with any dies.
  3. Rightwinger, PM sent. Thanks for the .38 offer, but I currently only shoot 9mm, 40S&W, & 223
  4. Part of my ritual of going to shoot at Gallatin Gun Club is picking up as much brass as possible during and after we shoot. Normally I look for 9mm, 40S&W, and 223, but we pick everything up, as long as it's a brass case. At the end of a good day, we usually have 800-1000 cases. I have a small collection of .45 ACP brass that I am not going to use. It's approx 200-300 cases. Anyone need/want this?
  5. I feel the time to nearing to reintroduce the "ruling class" to the real meaning of the second ammendment. They seem to perform their duties in Washington without a care in the world, passing legislation that their constituents "approve" of. Term limits would be great. Fresh blood is always a good thing. Pay raises should be voted by the voters. This would also include pay reductions during times of disatisfaction. These ideas might be leaps and bounds towards a better tomorrow, but that is common sense. And common sense is so common anymore these days.
  6. I have looked at Widners, but I would be paying TN state sales tax too. The bulk deals on their site are for Mil surplus bullets. I look to buy a large quantity therefore saving money in the long term. As a former Boy Scout, I like to be prepared.
  7. I did hear this and thought, what are you bitching about? Maybe someone sees a better financial advantage in investing in this company. Maybe local people will be employed. Maybe your company should take notice. I'm no economist, but I DO see when a current business model is failing.
  8. I want to stock up on 223 bullets for reloading. Is this a good deal? http://www.midsouthshooterssupply.com/item.asp?sku=001532267B It averages about 6.8 cents a round which seems cheap to me. What are your thoughts? Mike
  9. You guys got it easy down there. I'm currently up in Burlington Vermont. It started snowing a coupld hours ago. They are calling for 10-12" before it quits. I might get tomorrow off!!
  10. BY ABDON M. PALLASCH Political Reporter As gun sales shoot up around the country, President-elect Barack Obama said Sunday that gun-owning Americans do not need to rush out and stock up before he is sworn in next month. "I believe in common-sense gun safety laws, and I believe in the second amendment," Obama said at a news conference. "Lawful gun owners have nothing to fear. I said that throughout the campaign. I haven't indicated anything different during the transition. I think people can take me at my word." But National Rifle Association spokesman Andrew Arulanandam said it's not Obama's words — but his legislative track record — that has gun-buyers flocking to the stores. "Prior to his campaign for president, his record as a state legislator and as a U.S. Senator shows he voted for the most stringent forms of gun control, the most Draconian legislation, gun bans, ammunition bans and even an increase in federal excise taxes up to 500 percent for every gun and firearm sold," Arulanandam said. Obama answered "yes" in 1996 to a questionnaire from an Illinois group on whether he supported a handgun ban. But he later said a staffer filled out that answer and he did not support a ban. Nationally, background checks for gun purchases jumped nearly 49 percent during the week Obama was elected, compared with the same time period last year, according to the FBI's National Instant Background Check System. Anecdotally, gun dealers around the country have reported spikes in sales. The Illinois State Rifle Association Reports gun sales for November were 38 percent higher than last year. "We don't dispute [the gun sales hike] because the numbers from the federal system certainly confirm that there is increased activity out there. We just think it's a bit stupid," said Peter Hamm, spokesman for the Brady Campaign against Gun Violence. "Anyone who thinks they need to rush out and buy a firearm clearly has not been paying attention to how quickly we make progress on this issue. We don't think these are first-time buyers. We think they are people who already have more than enough guns at their homes to protect themselves and are buying more."
  11. and .223......and 9mm.....and 45 ACP What's wrong with that???? I'm saving it for later.
  12. Yep, it can be very expensive. I know first hand. I tried the helicopter thing and just could not grasp the controls. I spent approx $200 for every crash. I stuck with the RC plane side of the house. The best route to go is the simulator. See if it's something you can fly and stick with. I prefer an airplane because its easier to glide in if the engine fails, instead of the auto-rotation sequence. I never could get that right. I'm currently building a 1/12th scale AC-130U. (132" wingspan/95" length) I have been at this for more than 2 years and think it will take a few more years to complete.
  13. I found this shirt for sale on the Hero Gear. I laughed when I saw it.
  14. What, no pistol grip, bipod, flashlight, and laser? Weak! On another topic, would this require an AOW tax stamp?
  15. This might be the start of the much-over-due revolution. We can take back our country.
  16. "Yes we can!!!!" I sence a bit of sarcasm in his holiday message. I like it!!!
  17. WOW, that was an eye opener. Suzanna Hupp had a great presentation, too bad the audience didn't care. Penn & Teller also made a great push for no gun control. Sadly, I doubt the left-wing idiots will ever give on their position. I honestly didn't realize the underlying extent of the 2A. Great post.
  18. I was at Academy Sports in Rivergate this evening. There prices were also quite high for WWB in 9mm and 40S&W. I was looking for some .22LR value packs for my son and these were high too. I basically walked in and out again. I went over to Walmart in Hendersonville and found much better prices. The guy working the counter was talking about how most ammo is becoming unavailable. He was trying to re-order and couldn't get any more than what was already on his shelves. I will be glad when this panic has passed.
  19. I bought my son a Crickett .22LR from Hero Gear. I let him talk to the guys there and find the perfect fit. He shoots great with it. When we can't make it to the range, I let him shoot a BB gun in my back yard. I make him treat both guns the same to stay consistant with safety. The hardest part was keeping him from running "down range" to see where his round/BB hit. For this, I bought him a set of binoculars. I believe Santa will be delivering a spotting scope to better his view. I can't wait until my SBR approval. He already wants to shoot it.
