If you're bringing them in town and don't mind a drive, have them stay at the Opryland Hotel. Most folks are in awe of it. You can drink, dine, party or "shudder" walk to the mall. You'll pay a pretty penny downtown anyways, why not pay the same and have a tourist attraction that's more than just honky tonks and dirty glasses? Make 2nd/broad an excursion with an uber.

We finally decided it was silly not to have a garden, so I built a couple of cedar raised beds. We've been raising tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, etc from seeds. Finally got them in the beds and they seem pretty happy. Next up is to build some supports onto the beds so i can string up the tomatoes from up high. I think I may go ahead and put down gravel around the beds as well. Keep from having to weed eat around them. Just turn it into my own little operation.

Better take advantage of it before another apartment complex or mega neighborhood pops up. I'm on the outskirts of MJ and it's honestly a bit depressing to see all this open farmland go away. Lots changed in my 45 years.

Sounds like you have a functioning marriage to me. You both know what you like or dislike and you agree upon that. As long as you make couples time in there somewhere, you should be good.

I'm not for UBI in the slightest unless you are determined to be incapable of working and we already have other programs for that (incapable meaning actually incapable, not "under privileged"). Minimum wage at least ensures you're working to get it. It's a legacy guardrail to ensure corporations couldn't essentially make slave labor. So I get why it's a thing, but it also doesn't mean that taking out the trash is worth $25/hr.

This. The McJob is not responsible for your life choices. Granted, not everyone gets a choice.. but the overwhelming vast majority do. If you want more you gotta fight for more. I think some folks go through life believing that the world owes them something or it will just fall in their lap. I know countless people who just complain of their lot while doing nothing to improve it. Meanwhile, they light up a smoke, sip on their starbucks and complain on facebook.

My son will be ok. He's resourceful and my doors are open until he makes his own way. With luck, he'll do his 4 years in college and pull probably 60-70k immediately afterwards. I think if he applies himself, he can make that happen. I've hired guys out of college several years back making that range. Good luck on the debit. Just make sure you stick to it. The green monster will inevitably show up and make you want something you shouldn't be buying.

I feel for her. Just gotta keep on keeping on I suppose. Or push for those better jobs and promotions. At least she's 24 so she's got plenty of runway to catch up. She's doing better than most just by having a place of her own.

I, like numerous other parents, have a child that's just graduated. It scares the heck out of me that he can't afford to live anywhere around me. Single bedroom apartments are charging rent that's as high as my house payment. So unless he buckles down and makes well over 6 figures (impossible at his age), he's gonna be living with me or shacked up with 2-3 friends 'house poor' in some crummy apartment.

I'm gonna get picked apart for this, but I just can't imagine spending the price tag for these firearms. I get the precision and craftsmanship. In fact I want one, but when i see some of these $4000+ pistols I have to ask myself "what kind of unobtainium is this made out of?" I'm sure there's a 'how it's made' episode out there that would dispel my thoughts, but nothing is gonna dispel the price. But hey.. wealth is all relative, right?
