  1. Ron, deer hunting on LBL is by quota drawing only, that must be applied for in July I think. There is no open gun hunting for deer on LBL lands.  We have a couple WMA's here that were pretty good. Haynes Bottoms and Barkley WMA Unit I. Check the regs for open dates. Daily hunting for deer is only open on certain days due to duck season. If hunting a WMA for deer, a type 94 permit is required.   Dave
  2. Bow hunting is open during archery season and gun hunting is restricted to quota hunting only. A hunting permit ($25) is required for all hunters 16 and over. Your Tennessee License is good for the TN portion only. Centerfire hunting for Coyote opens in February. I hope this helps you.   Dave
  3. Summit Viper here. I may soon go to a ground blind, as climbing is getting hard to do.   Dave
  4. Same here. I haven't a clue.   Dave
  5. A butter knife through the opening at the base of the skull. Yes, every bit has to come out.   Dave
  6. I would like to take this time to wish all my TGO Brothers and Sisters a Happy and peaceful Thanksgiving. God Bless You All!   Dave
  7. Could be! So many tickets get wrote for not wearing orange on one's own property it isn't even funny. However, the law doesn't separate "private land" from "public land" when it comes to the requirements for wearing orange. It sucks I know. I got stuck hunting public land this year, and I often wonder if my orange hat, vest and gloves is enough. With so many hunters to put up with, I wonder if daylight orange undies would be worth having as well?   Dave
  8. Yes, you must have your paper copy, as it is not valid until signed in ink by you. You should be able to go back and print it out.   Dave
  9. I've met many TGO'rs and believe me, not a bad apple in the bunch!   Dave
  10. Thank You bersaguy, and Happy Thanksgiving to all my Brother and Sister TGO'rs!   Dave
  11. Well, I guess I need to keep a "Harvest Log"! I know it comes with your paper license whether you bought them or printed them online. Just one more piece of crap to keep up with! Dave
  12. Yes, I know him. I'm contacting the Region 2 manager to find out more info.   Dave
  13. Heads up brother TGO'rs....Was hunting yesterday and got checked by the Game Warden. He asked if we had harvested any deer and my Son said he had back during the bow season. The Warden asked to see his "harvest log", and the deer had not been recorded. My son checked the deer in on his phone and had his reference number. The Warden called it in to verify and it was all correct. However, the Game Warden said that we are "REQUIRED" to maintain the Harvest Log. He had not recorded it on the log and was issued a warning. I kinda smarted off and asked why the hell we have to check in deer AND keep records for TWRA. His answer, because you are. I personally thought those logs were for our use. Apparently us hunter's pay good money to do TWRA's record keeping for them!   So square away those logs boys!   Dave
  14. I would be interested in seeing how he cleaned the inside of the skull...   Dave
  15. Remove as much flesh as possible from the skull. Set it in a pan of water (just enough to cover the skull) with a touch of Borax added. Boil until the flesh is loose and coming off easily. Clean well and degrease with dawn dish detergent. Allow skull to dry. When dry, paint skull with bleach or hydrogen peroxide from a beauty supply shop. Peroxide from the store isn't strong enough. Keep doing that until it's as white as you want it. Rinse well.   Dave
  16. Yes, and you can even work in a replacement tip. I've had to replace whole sides before for bucks with one side.   Dave
  17. Sorry to hear of your loss Metalhead...prayers go out to your family!   Dave
  18. Dang Lance, you runned over one! Just Kidding Buddy, nice buck. If you lived closer I'd fix that rack right up for ya! Dave
  19. I use a grunt call to stop a walking deer. Scent-a-way and acorn scent work good for me. I do not use any sex attractants at all, and I'm not into all the gimmicks out there. Scent control is your best tool!   Dave
  20. Come on folks, jump on board and get involved!   Dave
  21. Just a piece of friendly advice from a retired Taxidermist....If the Taxidermist you choose wants to take a year or more to do your mount (as some say and or do) ask them to defer your 1/2 $ down until he's ready to start work on your mount, and you'd be surprised how quick he'll get to it. Your money will earn better interest in a bank for a year and not your Taxidermist pocket!   Dave
  22. Yes, you are correct. If Bow hunting during the ML and/or GunSeason, you are required by law to follow the regulations and bag limits for the seasone I.E Bow, Muzzleloader and Gun. If bow hunting during gun or ML, blaze orange is required.   Dave
  23. How would they license a black powder/primitive (centerfire) season? We are already being licensed to death now. To hunt with bow...$28, Muzzleloader...$28, Centerfire (rifle, shotgun, pistol)...$28, Fishing/small game...$28, WMA permit/Non quota big game (to deer hunt on a WMA)...$21.........WE DO NOT NEED more licensing fees! Tennessee is one of the most expensive states to hunt. We're licensed to death here.   Oh...I have two H&R Handi Rifles. One in 45/70 and one in 7mm/08....they are not very accurate nor consistent on the range. Just my :2cents: !   Dave
