  1. Haven't used it to hunt with yet but love mine. Have a 16" ARP barrel and it is capable of 0.5" groups at 100 yards with 110gr Hornady BTHPs. All the stuff I have read about the round for hunting has been excellent. And it is a good mid-range target round (I've rung steel at 500 yards but still working on loads).
  2. Pretty sure it is base model only and not colored frames but worth asking.   Here is the suggested pricing list if you need it. No mention of the frames. http://www.gssfonline.com/GSSF_Pistol_Purchase_Program_Information.pdf     Dealer Locator, select the LE Dealer. https://us.glock.com/dealer-locator
  3. Another vote for the Vickers sling https://www.blueforcegear.com/vickers-sling   If I am reading the post right, you may be unsure how to connect a sling to the rifle? If MOE handguards you need the sling attachment. https://www.magpul.com/products/msa-moe-sling-attachment and the stock attachment will vary depending upon the exact stock but if it is the MOE stock you can run the sling through the stock or use an IWC QD mount http://www.impactweaponscomponents.com/product/qd-rotation-limited-buttstock-sling-mount-n-slot/
  4. BRT Covert Comp works well for me.  http://www.blackrivertactical.com/product.html
  5. Awesome episode, glad to see more of the comic storyline followed.
  6. Looks nice. I have a new LaRue I need to get some pics posted up of. Just put a scope on yesterday and plan to dial it in tomorrow with some 77gr SMKs.     Is that the 16" barrel?
  7. I am interested. I don't mind sharpening knives - currently use a mix of a Work Sharp, Lansky system, and leather strop depending on the knife - but know they can be better than what I accomplish.
  8. Hunting, go with 6.8. Although it is probably out because of ammo cost the same as .300BO.
  9. Oh yes, that is a favorite of ours. But it is best visited on days where the weather is nice outside so the scenery can be enjoyed ;)
  10. Yesterday at work we had a discussion about pizza and I brought up this thread to get a list of the best places around (work off of West End). Today me and several coworkers went to Pizza Perfect and it was amazing. I don't usually care for thin crust but we all just got the lunch special (2 slices of pepperoni for me) and will gladly eat it again.
  11. No experience but I have been eyeing a Forster Benchrest set in .308 Win based on reviews online. The RCBS window in the seating die seems like a neat idea but from what I have read it is not as good as it sounds.    The Redding S type dies have a huge following I know but I haven't wanted to buy a die and then a few different bushings.
  12. I've only been there a year, but heard from a few people that when the membership year starts over there are usually a couple hundred spots freed up so it may only be a few month wait. It is worth it, if you shoot long range i ts really the only place around unless you have private range.
  13. I think there have been a few threads about the TP9 lately. I haven't really paid attention but just looked them up and I kind of like the look of the TP9SFx in tungsten.   http://www.canik55.com/series/tp-series/tp9-sfx     A couple of minutes searching shows the SF and SFx models will be imported sometime this year, I am not seeing them listed as available to buy yet?
  14. I would agree .45acp is probably better to start on. Larger case and bullets are easier to handle, I hate how small 9mm feels when swapping to loading that caliber. It's a low pressure round, a variety of powders work for it. I use W231 and Titegroup usually. Watch out for the primer pockets, .45 can be large or small primer so have to separate.
  15. Late to the party, but definitely step up to the Diamondback. I've owned a couple of Crossfire scopes and was very pleased with the clarity for the price range but the Diamondback is a whole other league. Better glass, better turrets, etc. If you want even more features, Viper PST.
  16.   More than welcome to come by one day and look at my setup, talk about equipment, or even load up some ammo if you want.
  17. Geissele is doing a big giveaway that starts today as part of SHOT Show.
  18. Even more of a waste of time than the Bill Goodman show at the fairgrounds.
  19. The "free" argument has been thrown around here for over the past year. A bunch of people listened and ignored all of the other factors, such as extra hardware costs. I could care less, I have experience with both. But VMware is the top dog and Hyper-V has a ways to go still.
  20. But Sam, Hyper-V is FREE!!! I was in a class last year and even a MS rep said Hyper-V is more expensive. Not everyone gets that, or they conveniently ignore it to push their own agendas internally.
  21. VMware is still the top hypervisor but Hyper-V is making some serious inroads. They are fairly similar though, if you learn one you can work in both. Citrix is still big but there are some serious concerns on how much longer they will exist as a company. Even if the company is bought out the technology will remain in use and be integrated into the product line of whomever buys them.
  22. TT Gunleather. I have a Mikes Special edition for my G19 and it is much more comfortable than my Mil Sparks VM2, for me anyways. It rides a bit lower than the VM2. http://www.mcssl.com/store/a9856d0dead4463ea8f07338d4d909/catalog/product/68352856e58a4f40bcf130f25458da04
  23. Change management is an issue pretty much everywhere. The few places I have been, if you can document that your change is going to fix a problem or be an improvement and you have a rollback option most people are open to listening. The problem I have faced over the past year is all the non technical people who want to get involved in problems and make suggestions that have nothing to do with the issue or do not understand the technologies at play and refuse to listen to anyone who knows. I have been battling one problem for several weeks now and have enjoyed greatly the higher ups suggestions being implemented and not helping the problem at all, exactly as I said it wouldn't. It's the little things in life ;) You will battle that type of thing anywhere. IT is always a challenge and that's what I enjoy. Especially in a large environment, every day is a different set of issues and solutions.
  24. What do you enjoy working on, from an IT perspective? For me, I decided about 7 years ago virtualization is what I enjoyed the most. Find a technology or area that you enjoy (even and maybe especially if it is challenging). ETA - that does not mean limit yourself. The more you know the better off you will be to adjust with changing positions but find an area or two to specialize in. I have worked a bit of everything, including network (done some basic Cisco firewall/swtch work and studied for my CCNA but never took it), but virtualization is the technology that really struck hold with me. It has paid off and I am in a very good position now. Whatever you decide I suggest you spend some time on scripting (PowerShell and PowerCLI if do anything with VMware) as it can save you a lot of time. Not only that but pretty much anything you can do in the GUI and oftentimes more is accomplished through PowerShell now. With Server 2016 Nano it will be completely remote PowerShell based, no console.
  25. I've always enjoyed his music. In fact, the music from 'Under Pressure' was played at my wedding. :) It didn't mean anything, was just meant to be funny for anyone who matched the beat to the song name. My wife lost a bet....I was allowed to pick something "upbeat" for us to walk down the isle to.
