  1. The 3rd works for me, either time.
  2. I have the Frankford prep kit and it is pretty decent. I recommend upgrading the cutter though, the one it comes with was worn out and took forever to trim in less than 1k rounds. Threw a spare Hornady cutter in and good to go. It is still slow compares to something drill powered. Not sure RPMs but a drill will be quicker if that's all your going for.
  3. If you can't afford the full Giraud, look at their Tri-Way cutter. Throw it in a drill and trim away.
  4. I'm in.   Are we doing one large pot to 1st place, or splitting up between 1st/2nd?
  5. Nashville Escape Game was pretty fun, we went and did a team builder there for work. Fun experience and I am interested in going back to try one of the harder rooms.
  6. Cool, thanks for all the info. I will definitely try to get out to something within the next couple of weeks.   I know Range USA has a GSSF shoot that I think was this past weekend and one weekend for the next 2 months (have to shoot 2 out of 3 to compete). I may even be able to get over and participate in that.
  7. 16 days to go til season kickoff. What date are you thinking for draft?
  8. GSSF seemed like the best place to start out since it is just about shooting, and then maybe transition to one of the other styles. I knew there were a IDPA matches around as I have talked to a couple people who shoot in them. May be good for me to go hang out at one and observe and talk to people.
  9. I just recently joined the GSSF (mostly for the pistol savings) but I would like to start participating in some competitions as well. I have never participated in a firearms competition and know I need to work on my pistol skills more. I have read through the GSSF Report and see a shoot in Lexington KY and Mobile AL - both within driving distance for a weekend getaway. I also see an Indoor League at Range USA over in Jackson and some online references to previous shoots at Nashville Armory. My in-laws live in Jackson so going over there for a weekend a couple months in a row is nothing. Who here shoots in GSSF? What do I need to know beyond what is in the Report and online? I know I need to register as a new member at my first shoot to enter the pistol drawing. What other GSSF competitions are around the area? Again I have never shot any competition but am considering trying to get participate in other local events to meet people, have fun and raise my skill level.
  10. Nice! Details? I have thought about a carbine or AR platform 9mm but haven't made any purchases yet.
  11. I've dry fired two Americans and was fine with the trigger on both. Going with the Creedmoor means another caliber to reload - different powders and another bullet size to stock. It would be strictly a limited target shooting rifle as I wouldn't need it for hunting.   I've pretty much made up my mind I am ditching the 30-06 and going to a .308, just have to figure out which one. .308 would be a bit cheaper to reload (less powder), I already have a bunch of bullets, and it is a bit easier to shoot accurately (less recoil). The 6.5 Creedmoor would just be a bonus since the Ruger American series is not that expensive and reviews are generally favorable on the model.
  12. I read the same thing on a forum about a week ago. It is a logical progression to phase out something that is not as efficient to manufacture.
  13. I may. Picked one up in the store yesterday and it felt great. The 2 stage trigger was very nice, not sure the poundage on it though. Only thing is, since I want this for target shooting I would want to step up to the Varmint series with the heavy barrel which is a bit more expensive. http://www.weatherby.com/vanguard-varmint-special.html I handled a Savage 10 FCP-SR while there as well. Great looking rifle and it is a Savage, but the stock is not very comfortable. Who knows, I may keep my 111 in 30-06 and pick up one of the Ruger Americans in 6.5 Creedmoor....
  14. I stopped in last night and saw a Surefire x300 for $154. I was very tempted by it and may go back today. They didn't have anything else interesting but I may have already missed out, that was first time I had been in Walmart in 3 months.
  15. Ditch McAfee and get something decent. Malwarebytes is great and will clean up anything on there. Never trust just one program, especially if that one is Norton or McAfee.
  16. New stock has nothing to do with barrel swap. Just something more comfortable to shoot than the factory straight comb stock. If I spend the money to do a barrel swap, particularly if swapped to .308 for more target shooting, need something more ergonomic to settle behind.
  17. I've been a Savage fan ever since my parents bought me my first one about 18 years ago. Had a couple since then and always great shooters.    I have never owned a Weatherby but always heard great things - the Vanguard S2 is not made in the USA but comes with the sub-MOA guarantee from a cold hammer forged barrel and a two stage trigger. Trying to read up on this model and see if it is worth the extra money.   The reason I am considering something new - my current bolt action is a Savage 111 FCXP3 (pre-accutrigger 3 screw adjustable, flat rear receiver with box mag) 30-06 and is a great rifle. A couple of my loads are 5 shot sub-moa groups all day long. But I have an itch for something different and newer.   I could buy another Savage, or some other brand, and it may never shoot quite as well as this one. So it is an internal debate. I am also considering dropping down to .308. I could just replace the barrel but need a new stock as well so a newer model rifle could come in around the same cost.
  18. Kind of late to help Pete, but how would a Weatherby Vanguard Series 2 stack up against a Savage 11/111/116? I'm having an internal debate about purchasing a newer model rifle for target shooting and occasional hunting.   http://www.basspro.com/Weatherby-Vanguard-Series-2-Rifle/product/14061309064635/
  19. I haven't shot one of the Mossbergs but the 3 or 4 rifles I handled over the past year and a half felt very sloppy. They may be good shooters, haven't read many reviews. But with a Savage you know you have an accurate rifle with great aftermarket options like Dolomite referenced.
  20. I had a package bounce between Miami and Nashville several times once. The post office had put a label on with the incorrect zip code. The actual address was correct. Took multiple calls by both sides and over 20 days (for a 2 day delivery) before USPS got straightened out.
  21. The last 5 times I have been to a restaurant and ordered a medium steak, it has been well done. I complained twice, and both times they brought me back out a steak that was even worse than the first one. This includes from some places that are know for their steaks.   We rarely eat out anymore and if I am paying for a dinner I expect something edible not burnt crunch.
  22. I don't remember how ESPN works - is it possible to switch that to a keeper league and let us pick 1 or 2 players to keep from last year? Or going to be a new draft across the board?
  23. I am in again. Just saw the email from ESPN a bit ago that it was activated.   I think $25-$50 would be good depending on what can be decided...  Possibilities that I can think of: Pool enough to buy the league winner a firearm Pool enough to buy some bulk ammo Split the pot 75/25% or something for winner and runner up
  24. I heard a report it was a dos attack. But then the news reported simultaneous core router hardware failure. Came back up right about 7pm for me. 5 hour outage.
