  1. Its hard to justify a $200 trigger but I think it will be worth it. I want more of a high end rifle for accuracy and a trigger is a big part. I shot some solid 1 MOA groups today with the mil spec trigger but I could tell the pull was throwing me off some. Now just have to decide if putting this Geissele trigger in a PSA lower makes sense.
  2. Never shot a 2 stage before. But from all I have read that is the best way to go for accuracy. I did watch the video, had planned on going with just the SSA trigger but then found the SSA-E for that great price. I had considered the ALG, but it is just a smoother mil-spec trigger basically. Also looked at the Rock River NM 2 stage, can get it for $75 but from reading online everything says skip that and go to Geissele.
  3. PSA actually has a complete lower for $129. I am trying to decide between snatching one of them and dropping the new trigger in, vs spending a lot more to get a Spikes or other big name.
  4. I am wanting a trigger upgrade (and probably a whole new lower, built up better than this PSA one). I know Geissele is probably the top name, so started searching around and comparing the 15 or so models they make. This would go with my new 18" Wilson Arms bull barrel to help shoot smaller holes. I am comparing models and prices and found the SSA-E brand new shipped for $194 which is a good $50 off normal. Anyone have experience with this trigger? I am worries it may be too light for deer hunting, if I chose to use the build for that purpose. Primary role will be shooting off a bench punching paper and trying to see how small of groups I can shoot.
  5. It is ok, they have that little woof bone - the lap dog will scare away anyone stupid enough to try.
  6. Pack those rocks on a trailer and take them North and you can get several hundred dollars for them. Seen people in Michigan pay big money for rocks for decorations.
  7. Put 100 rounds through it Sunday. Shot very well, should be much better as I actually build loads for this barrel. 55gr Hornady SP and 69gr Nosler CC - easily putting 8 rounds in 1.5" at 100 yards just shooting from a sand bag. Need to measure headspace and adjust my sizing die for minimal setback, then get more rounds loaded up and play around with OAL.
  8. No pics available but I have a Pure Kustom Black Ops IWB/OWB holster for my 1911. Very nice holster (I found a great deal on an used one, almost no wear marks), all leather and very stiff so it does not collapse.
  9. I unsubscribed from their email blasts and still got this announcement as well. Hilarious because 4 hours before I had an order in the cart and canceled cuz of the $15 shipping for what would have fit in a flat rate box for $6. In the past 18 months I have had at least 10 orders ready and canceled when I added the shipping charges - went somewhere else. I will check out these new rates next time I need to order but based on my last several orders will find a better deal elsewhere.
  10. That blue looks great Dolomite. For anyone new to powder coating, several colors are a bit more difficult to make look good - my best results are with dark red and blue. Orange, yellow, other light or very dark colors have not looked good (for me at least and some other peoples examples I have seen) but the coating is still effective even if the overall color is spotty.
  11. I have a few hundred of each LPP and SPP. Haven't reloaded any SPP yet but it makes sense to me to consolidate and use the same primer for all my pistols (SPP).
  12. What are you shooting? I would say 5 feet of dirt should stop all common calibers.
  13. For the comment the gun store should have cleaned the weapon if it was fired, yes but my experience is most stores don't. At least one LGS in Columbia sells firearms caked in carbon and grime quite often. They don't bother cleaning used firearms before reselling them.
  14. Upper arrived today, have to wait until Sunday to shoot it though. Finish on the upper and hand guards is a bit scuffed in a couple spots but doesn't bother me. Have to get some 55gr SP and 69gr Nosler CC loaded up for testing, looks like all I have loaded is 55gr FMJ.
  15. http://www.jsesurplus.com/JSE18WilsonArms223Wylde1x8StainlessBULLw/MidVentedFloat1RGB.aspx   This is the upper I went with. 18" Wilson Arms stainless bull barrel in .223 wylde, with free floated handguard. Should be very accurate.
  16. I have narrowed it down to a couple of options right now - all from JSE with 18" WIlson Arms barrels. Never had a stainless rifle barrel before, but I know that that a free float barrel is the best way to go. To get a stainless, free floated barrel price jumps up about $100 more than the stainless with standard HG I linked above - above what I was wanting to spend.    I know I could buy the stainless above and add a FF handguard later on, but a quick search shows most mid-length HG are around $100++ anyways. I will think it over today and then order one of them - read a lot of good things about Wilson Arms barrels since yesterday so I am sticking with one of them.
  17. Happy Fathers Day to all of you! I only have one (and that is enough for me!) but being a dad is great. We are heading out to the air show in a while.
  18. Something like this?  http://www.jsesurplus.com/JSE18WilsonArms1x8223WyldeSS1RGBTargetCrownedCompleteUpper.aspx It is a 223 Wylde 1:8 twist.
  19. Anyone else? Any ideas on another upper I should be considering? I suppose I could go with a 16" mid length but I am thinking an 18" will be slightly more accurate... I suppose a BCM 16" mid length would probably about be as accurate as the JSE 18" with Wilson barrel? http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-Standard-16-Mid-Length-Upper-Centurion-COSMO-p/bcm-urg-mid-16-c4-12-cos.htm
  20. I know the 1:8 will easily stabilize 69gr bullets and should even work well for 75-77gr. But really 55 to 69gr will be the majority of what I shoot. I don't think the 2 inches will make a huge difference at the ranges I will shoot (about 300 yards max). This upper will be for punching tiny holes in paper and deer hunting since will be able to use heavier bullets. My current 16" 1:9 will be for general plinking and home defense.
  21. I am buying a new complete upper as a gift to myself. Want something more accurate than my current 1:9 16" barrel.   I have found a couple of options and want to get some TGO opinions please. This upper will go on my current PSA lower with Magpul stock - maybe for 4th of July sale will grab another lower kit.   1. http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ar-15-05/barreled-upper-assemblies/psa-chf-20-5-56mm-1-7-rifle-length-a2-profile-w-bcg-charging-handle.html 20" rifle length, CHF barrel made by FN. I do not need the BCG and CH but it is included. Found a guy on another forum selling the exact same upper kit, brand new and I could get it even cheaper.   2. http://www.jsesurplus.com/JSE18WilsonArms1x85.56MolyTargetCrownedwithFrontSightBaseComp.aspx This has a 18" barrel made by Wilson Arms. 1:8 twist instead of the 1:7, also has the BCG and CH.   I researched and verified that I could shoot the rifle length upper with no issues using my carbine buffer (I have standard, heavy and H2 buffers to switch if the installed H2 ends up being too heavy).  know the CHF FN barrels are highly rated, but a few minutes on Google are turning up good reviews of the Wilson Arms barrels. Price between the two is not a concern - I just want to know which barrel should be better suited for accuracy.
  22. Thoughts are going out David.
  23. I do not own a TRP, but tested one at the LGS range. Gritty trigger but very accurate. The checkering could be used as a rasp. All in all, to me was not worth the price. I liked the RO but the adjustable sight is an issue if considering for a carry weapon.
  24. I won 4 tickets to the show so guess I am going up Sunday. Was going to find a place to park and not go onto the airport grounds, but with free tickets I might as well use them.
  25. Sweet! I want one.
