Both of the slam fires were the top round in the magazine. But we then cycled a few other rounds through exactly the same way with no issue. The smith said everything looked and felt right during his inspection. Oh and I am in Columbia Dolomite.

I honestly am not sure if the hammer dropped on the two slamfires. The slide cycled so if the hammer fell it was recocked. I have not dropped the slide on a loaded chamber but have dropped the slide a handful of times (seriously about 5 times or so) on an empty chamber. No leftover parts and stripped down meaning field strip and firing pin removed to clean the firing pin chamber.

My new Para 1911 Expert has around 400-500 rounds or so through it now, with no issue except a couple of feed failures. Last weekend I shot it then stripped it down and cleaned it well. Today at a class I inserted a loaded mag, hit the slide release and the round fired. I cleared the weapon. The instructor came over and performed the same steps. Load mag, insert, hit slide release - weapon fired. A gunsmith then inspected the weapon and cycled several rounds with no issue. I am not home to research this, but is it a common issue? A weak firing pin spring? My plan is to clean the weapon and get back to the range (probably not until next weekend) and test to see if the issue repeats itself. I also plan to closely inspect the primers and see if there is any indent to indicate the pin striking on slide release. I did not think to check the ones we cycled today. The ammo was PMC factory. If no issues at the next range session or indication of primer strikes I may say it was weak primers? If any issue I will send it back to Para.

Crossbreed Patent, What Does This Mean
TNMTBik3r replied to runco's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
It took them how long to get a patent? Only a dozen companies making imitations now. -
Things are beginning to turn around..... for good

Congrats, hope it works out! I started my new job today... Really excited about this opportunity. -
Keep some positive reviews coming, I may chance buying one (not sure if for my 1911 or SR40c). Worst case I'm out $30...

Yeah I don't think these will last much longer.

Leather and kydex holster. Leather on the side against your body with a kudex shell for the pistol. Look at the Crossbreed Super Tuck for one of the most well known hybrids.

Anderson blems for $39. That is a few bucks cheaper than last time I saw these blems listed. Couldn't decide between posting here and the long guns subforum. http://fatboytactical.net/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=21&products_id=28604

Official TGO "Look what I did to my finger" Thread *GRAPHIC*
TNMTBik3r replied to BrasilNuts's topic in General Chat
No pic, but I cut my finger to the bone once. I had a cheap folding knifge, and sharpened it using an air compressor grinder. As typical with a cheaply made knife, it had a cheap plastic lock - which slipped and closed on my finger. I still have a half inch scare across the top of my finger. We could see white, I assume that was bone, but even though it probably needed stitches I just glued it shut and slapped a bandaid on. Cut myself many times while processing venison. And of course smashed fingers with a hammer. But that knife closing on my finger is the worst hand damage. -
I looked at their website, comparing them to a Crossbreed and others. I decided a few days ago AG will not be receiving my business - their website of course has superb reviews but most of the 3rd party sites I checked reviewed AG very poorly. Poor to nonexistent customer service and low quality leather. I know everyone has their own opinion, and if I ordered an AG holster it may be excellent. But as of now I am planning to wait and get a higher quality 100% leather IWB/OWB convertible holster for my 1911. At some point I may take a chance on an AG for one of my pistols, especially if I start reading more positive reviews.

I have a brand new Para Expert, slap the mag home and then press the release to release the mag. Nothing to press when loading, except the slide release once the mag is inserted. Sounds like that rep was just trying to cover up an issue.

Imported, what about leather? Not sure how heavy a pallet of leather stacked to the listed dimensions would be though... I would also guess some type of wood (knife handles, etc) but I believe the weight is way off for that.

Did you at least catch the fan? Surprised (and lucky for you) that you only caught the one finger. -
Good luck!

Ha, I did that once. It was a mess... My thought was if the bullets were slightly warm the powder would stick better (orange powder, takes multiple coats to look decent, thought warm bullet may equal more powder and a single coating). If the bullets are slightly warm the powder does stick better, but trying to find that sweet spot on the temperature is a PITA and not worth the hassle.

Thanks, I will watch that video. Para says to allow a 500 round break in period, and since these were reloads may be an issue with those few rounds. Regardless I am loving this pistol! Shoots to POA at 25 yards - 5 rounds, 2 were touching, group was 4 inches which I don't consider bad at all since wasn't off a good rest, just sandbag.

Tractor Supply has some good looking leather belts. No idea how they will hold up though. I am currently considering a Beltman belt myself. Not sure why I didn't think about the Amish - I may swing over towards Lawrenceburg this week and see what I can find.
-
Another 200 rounds through the pistol. 5 feed failures, 3 of the 5 fed fine on the 2nd attempt from the mag. The other two would not feed from the mag- the bullet was jamming on the ramp and was being deformed. These were reloads, no issues with the 50 factory rounds.

Thanks for meeting me today Bersaguy. Enjoy that rifle. And Wiljo05 is a pretty good guy to deal with if you get the chance too.

I should have taken a pic of the target before I dumped the additional 3 mags on paper. At 10 yards the first 2 mags were all X and 9 ring. But then I started shooting a bit faster and pushed back to 20 yards and they spread out. I plan to shoot it off the bench at my normal range (with sand bags, no ransom rest or anything) at 25 yards and see what it will do.

I have shot several different 1911s and have wanted to own one for quite a while. Now I own one! Para Ordnance Expert Stainless "Para's Expert Stainless is a 45 ACP with a 5" stainless match grade barrel and steel frame & slide. It has a 2-dot combat rear sight with a green fiber optic front sight. Comes with a beavertail grip safety and an adjustable skeletonized trigger. Stainless finish with polymer grips. Comes with two 8-rd magazines." My first choice going in was going to be the Springfield Loaded or RO model based on research. The store did not have the Loaded model, and I did not care for the RO when I held it and really did not care for the adjustable rear sight. I looked at a couple of other 1911s but this Para felt the best in hand and the trigger is very light. The pistol in general and the trigger feel better than my neighbor's $1300 Kimber.... I put 40 rounds through it at the store range before leaving, this thing is accurate! Well at least when I do my part, I rushed some shots and pulled them to the left. It shoots great, I cannot wait to put some more rounds downrange. I bought some bullets/primers today so will get ammo loaded up over the holiday weekend. I need to buy a couple additional mags now. I have a Blackhawk level 2 kydex holster on the way, I do plan to carry this on the times I OC.

No good pictures available right now, these are 3 years old and she has grown since then - 75# now. I adopted her from the Franklin Shelter when she was about 6 months old, back in December 2010. American Staffordshire Pit Terrier - there are times I think she is mixed with something else but both vets she has seen said they do not think there is any mix in her. She is a great dog, protective of my daughter and wife when I am not around, but also very gentle and loves to play.

I am picking up my first 1911 this Thursday. Para Ordnance Expert in stainless, with the fiber optic sight. Went shopping last Saturday, was intending to go the Springfield route after researching online but did not like the RO adjustable sight, and they did not have the Loaded model available. I held several others, and the Para felt the best. It has a great feeling trigger as well as a proclaimed match barrel.
