I researched this some recently (even ran into Oh Shoot's opinion on a totally different forum) and came to the conclusion that my preference for plan was a good one. I'd say if you think you have a need for serrated, carry a second knife. If you're only going to have 1 1/2 inch of serrations anyway, you could make it a small folder.

Looks like here would be a good place to start. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interactive_fiction#Modern_era I was actually involved in the production of an adventure game once. It never got published though. I can't even remember much of what it was about. You also might want to look into MUDs. They are a little different but similar. This is one I dipped into for a while way back when... http://www.nanvaent.org/

nethack. Or do you mean text adventures? I miss those myself.

Depending on that medical condition, you probably want to ensure a whole bunch of supplies for that. Then the usual medical stuff. Start stockpiling some of the hard-to-get stuff if you can (antibiotics, painkillers etc)

Memphis renames city parks that honored Confederacy
tnguy replied to mcurrier's topic in General Chat
Meh, much as I hate to say it, I can see the confederate flag being kicked out of the state flag as the union did win. OTOH, that doesn't mean the flag should be banned from general public use and honoring the soldiers and officers is only right. The main thing to me is that it's such a long time ago, why worry about changing it other than some badly misunderstood history. It's all about power and control as always. -

I wouldn't mind seeing everything named after the Sundquists renamed. Every time I see anything that is, it reminds me of that slimy SOB. -
Amazon glacier is looking interesting. I haven't done a price comparison though. It's encrypted with their keys so if you are as paranoid as you should be, you'll want to encrypt with your own first. Note that it is not a live drive but meant for long-term archiving. Thus the price is somewhat lower than for their online stuff.

He also disbanded it when he thought it was getting too extreme. You don't hear that mentioned often. -
My wife's diesel beetle had an issue where in cold temps, the o-ring on the fuel filter would let a little air slip by and it would crank and crank for minutes before it eventually caught. Probably not that but worth a check. I have never had problems with gelling in the lines, even in the recent temperatures. For the engine though, I definitely recommend something like one of these if you can get it for your vehicle, especially since diesels are so reluctant to heat up. http://www.frostheater.com/frostheater.htm

Is it a diesel? Could be glow plug problems (though I would think that would show up an idiot light)

I can't say where the stuff sold in Detroit is sourced from but basically yup. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aquafina http://www.cnn.com/2007/HEALTH/07/27/pepsico.aquafina.reut/

Most bottled water is taken straight from the municipal water supply anyway.

Gotta say, when I saw the title, I thought we were going James Bond...

OK, that does phase me.

If someone manages to compromise your retina scan, fingerprint or whatever, they can't issue you a replacement.

With the barrel pointing down, he possibly didn't need to get it off his back. Not that it's about the time factor in any case. Having a weapon sheathed/holstered/cased is a show of intent. Not that I'm saying it should be illegal, just saying that when we're in a group situation, observation of group mores is prudent. Walking around with your pants off is likely to draw you some attention also.

It's my understanding that switch-mode power supplies are not as sensitive as traditional transformers

There's a problem with biometrics: Once compromised, there's no revocation.

Seems to me that wandering around with a weapon "ready to go" is just antisocial. If you have a sword or knife, you sheath it. If you have a handgun you holster it. If I were carrying a long gun around a public area, I'd make sure it was cased or otherwise concealed. That would go for an air rifle as much as an AR. I also note that the gun was barrel-down. That is also "more ready" than barrel-up.

I agree. I think mission creep is very detrimental to keeping to ideals and then the other side comes along and sweeps up the fallout. I think the tea party is experiencing similar issues in many places and that Republicans tying themselves to the religious right in the Reagan era was a long-term tactical disaster.

The one that advertises on WWTN claims a financing program that means you'll see savings immediately. If you don't mind carrying some debt, that would seem to be a deal.
