  1. Hey man, haven't you been absorbing the lesson the government's been handing out? That's "collateral damage" so it's OK.
  2. Can't say it phases me.
  3. Have to look into those. I have a buddy who lives where we can shoot but between Christmas, sickness and the weather, it just hasn't happened yet.   Those would be good for getting some range time in during the workday for sure though.
  4. Maybe they could load it with some confetti also.
  5. Semi-lethal?
  6. Ran across this on another blog and found it interesting.   http://kieranhealy.org/blog/archives/2013/06/09/using-metadata-to-find-paul-revere/
  7.   I read that as "a bottle of Jack" at first glance. Certainly that would be a good idea.
  8.   Yes, But then it may not use your preipherals. 64 bit XP was never well supported. And certainly that is not what they currently have installed.
  9.   XP also won't handle 8 gigs of RAM unless you use the 64 bit version (Which has all sorts of driver issues). Definitely 7. Or Linux :D   XP (and all newer versions of windows) can be very touchy about swapping the hard-drive between machines too. Been there too many times. It can be a straightforward process but you have to take some steps *before* you remove the hard-drive from the old machine (basically switch to standard drivers for the hard drive)
  10. The flu shot is based on models of what they think will be going around. It's quite possible they'll be wrong or that a new strain will show up but it's not witch doctor stuff.   We're not having the shots fwiw but after I got that swine flu a few years back, it's tempting.
  11. If she's not needing anything super fast, I'd suggest considering a laptop. You can get something good for not too much spendiness. I'm getting quite fond of the thinkpad line after having had Toshibas and Compaqs that experienced premature hinge failure. Also, I'm no Dell fan but their business desktops and laptops seem quite solid.   If a desktop is still a requirement, some partial upgrades might be an option. Hard drive (particularly if you can go SSD) and RAM (if you can go 8GB) will give you a nice boost (You won't be able to go the full 8 with 32 bit XP).
  12. I'm building a bunker to hide in until it's all over. The only TV available will be reruns of I Love Lucy and MacGuyver.
  13. Oh, I meant balance in terms of selection rather than physical balance.
  14. It's true, it's not much of a defense against physical attack and some could recognize it but many/most would not. It might also allow you to have arms where a full safe would otherwise not be an option.   I've been having a couple of ideas for some things that are along similar lines and this certainly gives some more ideas.
  15.   Ah, I didn't even notice. Just cut/paste.
  16. It's more about balance. I have the pistol, I'm likely to go long with a different build so I figured the next would be a "short medium".   I did see an interesting build where someone had turned-down the flash hider. He could slip the gas block off over the hider if needed. Unfortunately I'm latheless.
  17. I'm sure this has probably been posted before but I just ran across it and wanted to share.   http://www.youtube.com/embed/1pYqquG27pg   Starting to run into storage issues at home and am considering options.     Edit: Hmm, I thought we could embed the videos here. Oh well.
  18.   That's an interesting point. It might be worth keeping some water in a container that you don't mind destroying to get the ice out or a metal one that can be heated.
  19. Early NSA photograph:
  20. Hmm. Well, given that this is my fancy-pants TGO upper, I may go with the 16 for the flexibility and think about 14.5 on a different upper.
  21.   I'm a bit on the fence with that. Pinning doesn't scare me so it's more about practical consideration. Currently I'm leaning shorter.
  22. It might be time to finish my TGO upper build. Thinking I'll go with a 14.5" mid-length in 5.56. Any recommendations?
  23. I agree there.   It should be borne in mind that open borders worked for a long time. It's mostly the modern welfare system, military adventurism and high burdens on native workers that lead to it being a problem these days. As such, it's a discussion I'm perfectly willing to postpone until we have those other issues sorted.
  24.   I still don't understand why he went that way. I'm theoretically for fairly open borders myself but there are a whole lot of things that would have to be fixed first before that should even be considered.
  25.     Quite possibly the people that would be an issue for would not have voted for him anyway.   I don't know why Republicans feel they need to get far left-wing votes.
