If you stop and think about what the populaton of Florida is made up of you would come closer to understanding why he signed the law. 40% of the population is hispanic, 50% is old people that retired from one of the Yankee states with lousey gun laws and 10% is Red Necks up in the panhandle. Florida is one of those states you cannot expect to be the same twice on anything........JMHO

Can anyone here say they didn't see this coming if a few more crazies used AR's to shoot up a few more GUN FREE ZONES? I didn't notice any actions taken on the GUN FREE ZONES so they have evidently decided to keep the Killing fields intact till further notice. As far as the 3 day waiting period to purchase a gun only means it will wind up being 5 to 7 days or longer because it will get swamped and begin taking longer each time. I really don't see what the age change from 18 to 21 changing anything. Out of the 156 mass shootings between 2009 and 2016 only 2 shooters was under 21 and only one of the guns was bought legally and the other was stolen meaning only one shooting was done with a legal firearm meaning only one shooting would have been prevented. Oh well, like I said, was anyone not expected this to happen sooner or later????

My mistake, It was 59 killed or injured with 12 students and 1 teacher being killed

I think certain ones do. I know MeGavock in Donelson does and I know Antioch High does but both of them deal with gang issues so they have 1 or 2 officers but I don't know about any others.

You have a great point for sure. There will always be some injuries and maybe even loss of life. That is for sure. How much will depend on how fast who ever is going towards the shooter to confront them with a good guy with a gun or maybe 2 or 3 good guys with guns. The quicker the response the less the carnage..........JMHO

I've not seen any schools even talking about having full time police officers yet. I know some have ask about getting some but not mentioned paying them.

It's not what the kid doing the shooting is thinking but more how quick a good person with a gun can stop the bad guy with the gun!!! It would be great if there would be none killed or injured but if it can be cut down to 1 or 2 before the shooter is taken down that is better the 17 or Like Columbine and 59 and Sandy Hook with 26...............JMHO

IMO that just shows you how stupid some teachers can be. Not only students but there has been a lot of teachers and faculty also killed that might still be alive had there been armed people in the school. Guns in schools won't just be protecting Children, they will be protecting everyone except the active shooter and we can all hope he/she/they are being shot by several different armed School staff at the same time!!!

I have been saying that for years and for years it has fallen on deaf ears!! No Gun Zones are nothing more than Killing fields. Just look at every mass killing that has taken place in last 15 years to see that. I am not sure how competent the Blaze News reporting is but here is a couple to check out. https://americanconcealed.com/articles/mental-preparedness/do-the-most-shootings-occur-in-gun-free-zones/ https://www.theblaze.com/news/2017/01/09/over-98-of-mass-shootings-occurred-on-gun-free-zones-research-shows

I have quit packing my pocket knife since my By-pass surgery. Right now my doctor has me on Plavix blood thinner and even a minor cut now can be very serious. I'm back to using scissors to cut things in the kitchen and put all the sharp knives up. I have to be careful now with Darby and her claws. We were playing to other day and she scratched me and it took 20 minutes to stop the bleeding and it was just a small scratch. I am going to have a talk with the doctor Monday when I go see her to see if there is ways to stop the bleeding quicker that just holding pressure on it or Ice. They work but there has got to be something better out there.........JMHO

Well everyone seems to have their own opinion on what the police officers should have done or not done during the shooting and I look back all the way to Columbine High School and I can say this with a clear mind. If I was a LEO and I arrived at the school and shooting was still going on I am going in. I'm wearing a modest amount of protective gear on my body and I do have the element of surprise on the shooter/shooters and if I save 1 or 100 lives I have done my job to the best of my ability. To stand outside and listen to the gun fire inside would just be unacceptable to me. I'm 70 years old and I would still go in...............JMHO

Should they arm teachers in Florida schools? The Students don't think so!!!!!

Oh yea, until I get between her and the storm door she is a vicious attack dog and I really believe she would bite them if I didn't call her down first and my friends don't open the door either as long as she is growling and showing them her mouth full of teeth. My buddy Butch still does not trust her till he is actually inside the house at petting her.

Thanks for the tip on the Fiocchi Ammo but I bought a case of it about a year before the panick buying started and got it at a very good price and I still have about 3 boxes left of it and I use it only for range ammo because about 1 or 2 rounds in my 15 round magazines fails to fire and I have to re run it through sometimes 2 or 3 times to get it to fire and some never fire so I won't be buyng any more of that brand of ammo.

Good luck with that!! Insurance companies never want to pay but they want that premimum payment paid to protect you. I have been shopping for a new insurance company. I'm tired of getting increases every time I get my bill yet I have not had any claims in over 20 years and any tickets in about that same length of time. When I ask them why it is going up and they said that it is because of the cost of these new rear camera bumpers costing so much when they get hit plus there has been so many claims for cars in the fires in California and the floods. I tell them I hvae not hit one of those damn bumpers and I have not had a vehicle in a flood or fire and they say it's increases across the board. I am going to hunt for a company without a board..........

I have been looking for a good buy on 380 ammo recently but it seems to be holding higher than the other popular calibers. I have shot some and would at least like to replace what I have shot which would fill my ammo safe back up.

Most of ya'll know I lost Kasey back in October and I decided I had to have another dog in my life cause i have had dogs in my life since about age 6 so not normal for me not to have one. I went searching all the dog rescue centers in the area and my vet was also searching for the right dog for me. Well, I found Darby and soon as I saw her she was the one and would be coming home with me. At the Rescue Center she was very laid back and almost timid till the lease and collar went on her and she became a new dog. When I opened up the back door of the Jeep she knew exactly where she was suppose to be and she didn't hesitate. She loves to ride but I don't take her into any store except Tractor Supply and thats because a lot of folks take their dogs in there. Once home she needed to go potty so she did and then we went in the house. It didn't take her but a few minutes to check the place out and she followed me every where I went in the house and still does to this day. She loves to go out and play and chase the wild life in the yard. Playing with a few toys she would fetch them and bring them back for me to throw the again. I learned something new about here after returning home from the hospital. She loves to play stick more than toys. Evidently who ever owned her previously had trained her to fetch with a stick cause I can throw a toy and a stick out in the yard and she will berng the stick back every time. So now we play stick when we go out. As far as her guard dog situation, she will back every one away from the storm door as she is vicious and trying her best to bite them but she is all show so far. Once I open the door does not matter would it is she is their best friend and totally glad to see them. That worked out great when I was in the hospital because I had about 4 buddys that were taking turns coming to the house and letting her out a couple times a day and playing fetch with her and feeding her and making sure she had plenty of water and she didn't have any issues with letting them in the house at all. Now that i am back home she has gone back to her being aggressive to them till I open the door and then she is friends with them again. She loves her nice big bed. It is a Memory Foam Twin bed Mattress with a big old quilt on it that she hides snacks in all the time.

Chemical Attack at Arlington, Virginia Joint Operations Base
bersaguy replied to volshayes's topic in General Chat
It appears that the mainstream news networks can only focus on one story at a time these days. I do remember channel 5 talking about the base being attacked by a piece of mail and several Marines were hospitalized but it was not ran like it would have been back in 2001 after 9/11. Back then every News Network would have been all over it for days.............JMHO -
