  1. 2 long guns shipped, one hand gun we met in the parking lot at Bud's in Sevierville. My 49 Crosley, that has been waiting, I bought when I was 13 (long time ago) and rebuilt and drove in High School, it is waiting for it's 3rd mechanical rebuild.
  2. I think the Nashville illusion is they keep selling what they buy, we keep what we buy :-) I have bought 3 guns off the forum so far and they were all from middle TN. Yea I spent a lot of time on the keyboard before I retired and probably still spend too much. The truck is a 1950 Ford F1, I also have a couple of Crosleys. I know the feeling on the getting started, my 49 Crosley has been next Winter's project for several decades now.
  3. Yep we made a donation last night. Rather give it through Dolly than the Red Cross.
  4. Glad to see another NE TN member. I'm south of Jonesborough a bit.
  5. Haven't used him yet but was in his shop about 6 months ago. Has a small gun shop and a good size smithing area. Patrtiot Arms 300 N Main Ave Erwin, TN 37650 (423) 388-3685

    Ruger LCPii

Not real near, but Mahoney's in Johnson City had an LCP-2 a couple of weeks ago when I was window shopping.
  7. I shoot M-22 regularly, most of my .22s like it. My favorite of the bulk ammo. I still have my tin foil hat on and think the government has been interrupting the .22 flow. Kids start with BB guns then move to .22s, no .22s and the path to bigger guns has been broken for many kids. The libtards like t play the long game. So new government, may open up the market.
  8. I mostly bought things I planned to buy anyway, just sooner. Only extra stuff I bought was a few magazines in case they were outlawed, so I would have spares and a bit of extra ammo, ok maybe 2 bits of extra ammo. The last shipment of ammo that is ordered is coming Friday.
  9. Bought the stainless Target Mk IV two weeks ago, very nice. I put a rail and an extra Bushnell TRS-25 red dot on it Saturday and did a quick zeroing. Liked it but ordered an inexpensive red and green reflex sight to also try to see if I can acquire the target easier.
  10. The advantage to smaller is you don't need as much gasoline on hand. I have a similar setup to what you are talking about. I folded the two 110v circuits on top of each other so I can run all the 110 circuits in the house with a 110v generator. I use a Honda 2000 inverter generator, available for about $800 new and is very quiet. Runs frig, small freezer, any lights we want to use, tankless propane hot water heater, backup propane hot air furnace, all my computers and a 42" flat screen. At our old place we also powered a sump pump indirectly which is probably about the power of a well pump (it was a big submersible pump). If I ran the generator on high it would run the pump but I like running in energy saver mode (quieter and less gas). I bought a 2kw inverter at Harbor Freight and hooked it to a spare 12v battery and put a small charger on the battery during power outages plugged into the outlets powered by the generator. Since the sump pump and well pump is intermittent the battery had plenty of time to get recharged between runs. I run my generator on Av Gas which is expensive but has a shelf life of 3+ years, I keep 10-20 gallons on hand in an out building in sealed Jerry Cans. I also have several old cars and a tractor that I run on ethanol free gas that I can siphon extra fuel in an emergency to extend my run time. My little Honda will run around 8 hours on less than a gallon of gas. I know a fellow that put in a huge generator to power everything and then burned so much gas he couldn't keep enough on hand.
  11. I have bought a few guns at gun shows over the last few years and was happy with the deal. All were new but hard to find in gun shop models (Kel Tec, new on the market, etc) and usually listed over retail on the auction sights. I agree you don't find deals on the common stuff. I still like gun shows, even I just look.
  12. Last week a Beretta 21A in .22 from Jeremiah off the classifieds here at TGO. Nice little gun and great TGOer.
  13. I didn't need this style light (was tempted) but the thread got me thinking that I really needed a more powerful small light for the night stand and doing a little searching I found and bought this one (Anker LC90), also $30. Very bright at 900 lumens, plenty bright to blind an intruder if needed and small enough to be easy to carry. I have a larger and brighter light hanging by the door but it is to big to use in an invasion situation accept as a weapon. I see the Anker is currently out of stock.
  14. Was a good week. Went to a factory Ruger sale at my local gun shop and picked up a SP101 stainless revolver in .22 and 2 bricks of Blazer .22 ammo. Then went to a gun show today and could not pass up the new Ruger Mark IV, the Target model in stainless, couldn't justify the price of the Hunter model. Since they gave me a coupon for a discount on the overpriced .22 ammo with the purchase of the Mark IV, I picked up a brick of MiniMag CCI at not to outrageous a price.
  15. I have one of the original Marlin .410 lever actions made around 1929. Was a gift when I was 13 (long time ago) and I hunted with it a few years before moving to a 20g. Through a family misunderstanding it was sold. I knew who bought it and he still lived in the same town as my Mother so a few years ago I had her contact him, he is in his 80s and had sold it along time ago but kept very good records and knew who he sold it to. He called the guy and he had died, but his wife was selling his collection and still had the gun. So after more than 40 years I got it back. It is a fun gun to shoot and will not leave the family again. It was based on the 1893 receiver. They gave it away for a couple of years with the purchase of 4 preferred shares at $25/ea. They stopped production with the intro of longer shells, it takes 2.5” shells, in 1932. They made around 6500 of them.
  16. Brick of CCI Quiet .22 but I hope for something bigger soon. Going shopping tomorrow.
  17. Welcome to East TN. Lots of great people on TGO and lots of good info.
  18. Since one of my postings from July of last years was quoted, I thought I'd chime in. I didn't go to the $72 class. I found a $50 class at a local gun club. I have previously taken two different NRA handgun classes and the Utah carry class, so the only thing I got that I needed was the TN law part, some review and the checkmark to get my carry permit. For a new shooter it would be a lot more valuable. I certainly could have gotten just as much out of an online TN law tutorial. Would be nice if a person has previous class credits from NRA or a different state, even if more than 6 months old, that they could take an online tutorial and if they pass could skip the class.
  19. I stopped in to the Walmart in Erwin/Unicoi last week for something else, I always check ammo availability when I'm in a Walmart. There was a fellow stocking the ammo shelf so I asked if they had any .22. His answer was no and they were not carrying it any more. Don't remember the exact words but it almost sounded like no Walmarts were going to carry .22 ammo anymore.
  20. Would be glad to but I just checked where Lakeland was and it would be hard to be much further apart and still be in TN. I added a Hogue grip to mine to take a little of the bite out of shooting it. I use a DeSantis Super Fly Pocket Holster with it, conceals very well.
  21. Well I got my answer today, I was just lucky on the first brick. Open a fresh brick today and had 3 duds in the first 50-60 rounds. Oh well it is just plinking ammo, I will get through the 2000 rounds, but will chose when I'm shooting it when I can take care of duds.
  22. I used some UMC in .380 and had a failure to chamber and a failure to eject (jammed last round in mag). Only other ammo out of a dozen different brands and types was the cheap steel TulAmmo. I don't buy either anymore.
  23. Love it. If I have time I usually try to lead them on for awhile, ask questions to see if I can get them to start over and finally when I get boredred I tell them to try and steal control of someone else computer and hang up. I am an all Mac household with zero MicroSoft software in the house. They call my 89 year old Mother all the time and she tries to explain she does not own a computer and they argue with her that she does. My son is in IT and he likes to pretend he is doing what they say and telling them bogus info that is showing up on the screen and they get very frustrated that what they are telling him to do doesn't work.
  24. Another NE TN member that has come out of hiding.
