  12 is a great number but I'll keep it open to 16 up until the draft to give people a chance to join in and to have that challenge.  With a 16 team league, you get a feel for who actually knows players across the NFL and who doesn't.

  I'll slot you for Team #11.  If we get another, we can upgrade to a 12 team league and have some real competition.

Invite emails have been sent to those of you who have replied so far.  Check your spam folders if you haven't seen them yet.   Omega brought up pooling some money together for a prize for the winner.  His recommendation is a years membership to TGO, something that helps the site out as well and would only mean about $5 per person.  I like that idea if we have 8 teams going forward.   Or...   If we get 12-16 teams, we might be able to bump that up to a Lifetime membership for a buy in of $12.50- $9.50.  Just food for thought in case anybody was on the fence about doing this.

Okay, since we have a critical mass of eight teams, I just set up the league.  I'll be PM'ing you guys for emails to send league invites to.  If you already have an ESPN.com account, you can jump right it, if you don't, you'll need to set one up.  Right now it's eight teams, but if we get more who want to join in, I can edit that up until the draft.  Would just need to be in multiples of two so we keep things even keel.  The more the merrier.   I set up a tentative draft date of Thursday, August 28, 2014 at 8:15 PM (Local Time).  It will be online and if you can't make it, there is the autopick to take care of you.  You should be able to edit your wish list if you can't make it.  If not, ESPN will make the best choice its software can for you.  Draft order is going to be randomly set up one hour prior to draft time. It will be a snake draft, so if you have the 1st pick of the 1st round, you'll have the last pick of the 2nd round, 1st of the third, and so on.   Once you get set up in the league site, check out the roster and scoring setup.  I made it a little challenging to foster competition.  Only a few bench slots to make sure we aren't just stashing talent, and two flex (RB/WR/TE) slots to make sure people can have some flexibility with their line-up.  I'm also considering making it legal to only have one D/ST and K, so you have to consider dropping one during bye weeks to see how quick they get vultured off the wavier wire.

  Just unplug it and keep it around for emergencies or power outages since it's run separate from the power lines.  That's about the only advantage of a landline these days.   Unless you have one of those landlines that run off of a cable modem...then you're buggered regardless.

  Like I said, Fort Jackson runs about 50% of all Soldiers through basic training now.  The best chance going elsewhere is if you have a combined basic & AIT like most combat arms do.  Infantry- Benning, Field Artillery- Fort Sill, Engineers- Leonard Wood.   My father was kind of sad when I told him that Fort Dix, NJ was closed down for basic.  That's where he went through in 1965'ish.

Up to seven, eight if Hershmeister wants to be our "El Cuñado."   That would be the minimum for a league...though a bit weak.  10 or 12 would be better.  Not looking like we can get to 16 teams.   I was thinking of doing an online draft on a weeknight sometime the upcoming week.  That way everybody should be able to do it without having to go on autopick.

  I went to Jackson in 2000 despite having an MOS closed to women.  Unless you're in a OSUT MOS, you have a decent chance of going to Fort Jackson. They run basic for about 50% of all new recruits.    We even had a few guys (not infantry) in my basic platoon who were diverted to Jackson, since Benning had too many privates sitting around waiting for a cycle to begin.

  You make 4.  Hoping to have more at this point.   ESPN is the easiest I've seen so far.  Fox Sports wasn't bad when I used them one year.  Watching my friend use NFL.com's FF side left me unimpressed.  No experience with Yahoo.

The closest analogy I could think of is a camper. The container is usually on a trailer bed and has expanding sides to form a TOC (Tactical Operations Center) inside it with a 20KW ECU (Environmental Control Unit) to heat or cool it off as needed. All in one container, you extend the sides, set them up and run the generator. You can have a ready to go operational command post set up in about 1-3 hours (they vary by size and I don't know just how big this one is), depending on the time you need to set up desks, chairs, run computer or phone lines and set up your power generators to run all your gadgets. They were designed to be very portable (Air Force transport and helicopter sling load in addition to vehicle pulling) for a unit conducting operations in a more conventional type of war. This probably isn't the exact model Rutherford County acquired since the Army had several variants, but here is a picture to give you an idea of what they look like. Gov. Nixon isn't as stupid as his 5 minute video makes him out to be.  He's clearly pandering to the far left base and minority communities and setting himself up to be seen as a "leader" by them no matter what happens.  I think he is playing for 2016 and enjoying the free media coverage that is getting his name out nationwide.       See how he omits any responsibility on the State of Missouri?  If Officer Wilson get's indicted by the grand jury, he was the first politician to have the balls to call for it.  If he isn't indicted, he was still the one calling for it, but the fault is with the St. Louis county prosecutor and the AG for "failing to act", not his administration.       Sounds like a splendid platform to run on in 2016.  With him out front on the issue as an executive, even Hillary would have to play some serious catch-up.

Any interest in putting together a Fantasy Football League of TGO'ers?  We can set it up with 8-16 teams and just have some fun talking smack and maybe set up a pool that kicks some money to the site if everybody can find $10-$20 under their mattress that isn't already allocated to ammo.   If there is any interest, I'll take up to 15 people who want to be in and suggestions on which site we want to use; ESPN (my current one), Fox Sports, Yahoo, ect...

From what I'm reading, these transfers can be done at no cost other than shipping so DoD doesn't take a budget hit for the program.  It was another gem from the War on Drugs we have had great success with.   The spreadsheet should have the "original acquisition value" listed, which would explain the cheap prices (to our eyes) since those weapons would have been bought back when those amounts were a normal cost for buying in bulk via government contract.

I posted this link in the other thread about what is going on.  When this all started, those guys were out front and armed to keep watch, and the looters just passed them by.  Makes sense, since even in large numbers mobs want soft targets to hit instead of defended ones.  Good luck finding any looters to take point when they would be the first ones dropped by an armed defender.   I would concur that some of those owners are from out of town and are getting out of the danger zone before the sun sets each day.  Also, I would imagine that with the proper insurance, they are less likely to put themselves in harms way to protect property and inventory that will be covered under their policy.

  Looks like it might be here sooner than I had hoped.  I just checked my status online.  Very pleased at the turnaround time.  

I am about a week behind you in the process.  Took the class on the 11th, DMV to finalize the paperwork on the 12th and was fingerprinted on the 13th. Hopefully I'll have the same luck you did and my permit will be here next week.

  It wasn't even 30 people, half that at best, and some children among them with (presumably) their parents.  Between the cops I saw stationary and those doing orbits of the area in their cruisers, they probably had had a 1-1 ratio to all the adult demonstrators.   They stepped off around 6:45pm and I lost sight of them as I had ordered food at a local restaurant that I was still eating.  Once I finished and paid my check, I tried to find them, but couldn't and went home.   Seems the revolution didn't come to Murfreesboro today.  Oh well.

I'm down on the square now and it's quiet as any other night. There are a few "protesters" gathered, but they seem to be waiting for more to show up. There are far more curious white people sitting around. I also saw a big muddy pick-up dtiving around with a large Georgia(?) flag (still has stars and bars) driving around, but only for one pass. I bought a nice Macanudo to smoke while I watch if things get interesting.
