  1. I did pay full MSRP of $699 for mine. But at the time they were scarce as hen's teeth. Some folks were paying considerably more for the few that were out there. Some scalpers were getting as much as $1200. Springfield has been shipping to their stocking dealers first. Everybody else had to wait. Here's mine.
  2. I'm glad to see them showing up more. I have one and they're great pistols. But I had to drive 75 miles to get it. MSRP on those is $699. So your guy is a little high. But it seems lots of folks are willing to pay it.
  3. Some years back one of the local news programs reported that the most common time for hotel and restaurant workers in Memphis to take vacations or time off was during the annual COGIC convention. The reason being that these God loving folks never tip, complain constantly and treat the staff like ####.
  4. I wish you were closer. I'd jump on that deal. THE .38 Super is a semi-rimmed cartridge. Think of it as a 9mm on steroids.
  5. I truly believe there was massive election fraud. Especially with the mail-in vote. But I also believe it was on both sides. The democrats just cheated better.
  6. Regardless of where her family was or why they weren't there, there's no excuse for the way the hospital and police treated that woman. None at all!
  7. I'm also thinking a firing pin problem. bad spring, dirt, or possibly the firing pin itself has a worn or broken tip and is a bit short. As Darrell suggested, it may be excessive head space. But I'd try the firing pin first.
  8. Pretty much any of the big holster makers should have something you'll like. If you want custom, I highly recommend G.B. Leather in Dover, TN. George does outstanding work. His prices are reasonable and delivery is generally pretty quick. George is also a very nice guy. He's made several holsters for me and I've been very pleased. https://gbleatherco.com/
  9. I've never watched Fox news. But then, I take all of MSM with a very healthy grain of salt. Always remember that the News programs are just another TV show. They fight for ratings just like your favorite sit-com. Plus they all have their own agenda.
  10. The story is getting around. I saw it on Inside Edition on TV this afternoon. Family says their gonna sue.
  11. I lost a few small limbs. Nothing serious. But my power was out for 5 hours. Local news was showing considerable damage in Memphis. Some really big trees down. Reported 35,000 people lost power.
  12. They can already freeze your bank accounts. I don't see where this would be any different.
  13. Its my understanding that this new ISO code doesn't track gun purchases directly. Its for any purchase at a store that sells guns. For example if you go to Bass pro and buy a new fishing rod, that sale will get the same code as buying a gun. As would buying camping gear. I really don't think its that big a deal.
  14. Don't worry about the broken Allen wrench. Very likely that set screw has lock-tite on it. Apply some heat (not too much) and try to remove the entire set screw. Good methods have already been mentioned.
  15. This strikes close to home for me. There's a real prejudice against big people. Ok, fat folks. My late wife always was a kinda big girl. But when she got sick and the side effects of the medicines she was on, she gained a ton of weight. Her size almost doubled. She couldn't help it. Wasn't her fault. It was the meds. She hated being like that, but there was nothing she could do. I began to notice. Everywhere you go. People see a fat person and automatically assume that they're just a fat, lazy slob. They sneer, judge and instantly get a bad attitude toward that person. I think that's what happened here. The doctors, nurses and especially the cops took one look at this woman and decided she just wasn't worth their time and effort. No one considered that she had a history of serious health issues and just maybe she couldn't help being as big as she was. I believe that prejudice is what happened here. And that's why is pisses me off so bad.
  16. More than likely the piece has deformed and gotten itself jammed in the hole. Another hammer method. Hold the piece upside down over the work bench. Lightly and repeatedly tap it with a light hammer. The idea is to set up a vibration that will shake the piece loose. If that doesn't work, take a small pin punch and working at the outer edge, lightly tap the piece in the opposite direction trying to work it loose. Above all, be patient, go easy and take your time.
  17. When I was a very young man and first getting into guns, it was gotta sell one to buy one. Stupidly, I was also very much influenced by the gun magazines and hot for the the latest and greatest on the market. I sold a lot of guns I regretted letting go. Fortunately those days are long behind me. I've even replaced most of the ones I sold. OTOH, I have guns that haven't been shot in years. There just always seems to be something else taking priority or another project in the works. I just don't get around to them. Now days I only sell a gun for a reason. Most often that reason is that I bought something that it turned out I didn't like it or it didn't like me. Mainly, I just couldn't shoot it worth a damn. But as I get older, I am starting to think about thinning the herd. Having dealt with estates before, I know what a PITA it is. I want to spare my sons as much trouble as possible. The time will come, but I'll probably give it a few more years.
  18. I think I see your feed problem. Notice that little gap between the frame feed ramp and the barrel. That should be a smooth transition there. Send it back to the factory. As for mags, Wilson makes the absolute best .45acp mags. But their 9mm/38 Supers are just so-so. I suggest Metalform mags. They make the Colt factory mags and I've found nothing better for 9mm/38 Super. Completely reliable.
  19. I've always been a cash guy. I have one credit card and its used mainly for internet purchases. I pay it off at the end of each month. If I can't pay cash, I don't need it. However, much of the younger generation already deals mostly in electronic money. They're used to it. Many use a debit or credit card daily for something as small as a soft drink at the local store. How many of you pay your monthly bills through automatic payment plans or receive direct deposits? No doubt at some point in the future cash will go away. Also bear in mind that the vast majority of "money" in this world is actually nothing more than numbers in a computer somewhere. If you want to make a large cash withdrawal, many banks need a couple of days to get the cash together as they don't have it on hand. BTW: they will report a large withdrawal to the feds. An all electronic economy opens the doors to all kinds of nefarious possibilities. Never underestimate the criminal mind. And that includes our elected criminals as well. May be a moot point anyway. Biden's EO simply authorizes a study into the possibility of an all electronic economy. Ain't nothing written in stone yet.
  20. Are you talking about securing the gun while you go into someplace where it isn't allowed or leaving a gun in the car all the time?
  21. I haven't been squirrel hunting or eaten any in many years. But I do remember Grandma frying up a batch now and then. Good eatin'.
  22. Time stamp on the video is Feb 5. That's 3 weeks ago and we're just now hearing about it? I take pride in the fact that this old fox has a pretty thick hide. Unlike some folks, very little offends me. But this! Not only am I seriously offend, I'm just flat PISSED OFF!
  23. WTF? This woman is clearly in distress. The hospital kicked her out and then called the cops on her? There's so much wrong here I don't even know where to start. The hospital, the medical staff, the cops everybody was dead wrong. Some serious investigating and head rolling needs to happen! This gonna go viral and make the national news. All Hell is gonna break loose. Once again Tennessee gets a black eye.
  24. Has been for years.
