  1. Neither. Its all cheap crap. I spent my life turning wrenches. Only buy quality tools. Your knuckles will appreciate it.
  2. I just used a wire brush on a bench grinder. Quick and easy.
  3. As I've said many times before, every cop I've ever asked has told me that the most common stolen gun report that they do has the weapon stolen out of a vehicle. Vehicles are not very secure. While I agree its the thief's fault. You shouldn't give them the opportunity.
  4. Sig mags have always been expensive. But if you like their guns, ya gotta pay the price. Check your LGS. I was surprised to find mine had mags for my Sigs at a reasonable price.
  5. Well, I've done all I can do with this gun. I removed the magazine disconnect, trimmed the sear lever spring a little and did some light polishing on the sear and hammer. Best I could do was get the trigger pull down to right at 7 lbs. But it is smooth, crisp, consistent and much better than it was. It really feels much better than it actually measures on the scale. I'm thinking it will get even better with use. Only time will tell. Much to my chagrin, I've discovered that the C&S safety lever will not work in this gun. It seems that the stud that actually blocks the sear is just a tad smaller on the Girsan and the C&S lever won't go through the hole in the frame. Also the detent position is slightly different. When in the off position the C&S lever sticks up just enough to block the slide. While I'm not real happy with the factory lever, I can live with it. Ok, so its not a Browning. But for half the price, Its still a good gun. I'm happy with it. Of course its raining today and forecast calls for rain pretty much all next week. I have no idea when I'll get to the range to test it out. But a range report is coming. Stand by.
  6. Red October was a good movie despite having Baldwin in it. I never have liked the liberal jerk.
  7. I'll watch it just out of curiosity. That is once its on TV. I sure won't pay to see it. I guess Baldwin is stuck. He has to finish this movie because it'll probably be the last one he ever does. At least that's what I hope.
  8. BULLSH!T Just because the trigger was replaced doesn't make the gun more likely to misfire. In all likelihood the trigger was replaced because it was misfiring. I doubt a gun rental company would have incompetent gunsmiths working on their guns. Unless physically broken, that still doesn't dismiss the fact that the trigger has to be pulled all the way back to get past the half cock notch on the hammer. The FBI determined that the gun was in perfect operating order. Once again the rich and famous get away with murder. At least we have the satisfaction of knowing his career is dead as a hammer.
  9. I sent e-mails to both my state senator and representative about this. I made my voice heard. I can't say that they will listen, but what more can I do?
  10. Jeff, you planning a trip to the west end any time soon? If you get this way, I got one I'll give you.
  11. My late wife had several guns and could shoot pretty well. However, she never wanted to carry. That feisty little Italian girl was the first to admit that she was too hot tempered to be carrying a gun. OTOH, I feel sorry for the idiot that dared mess with her.
  12. Something that has occurred to me that most people may not consider. I have a fairly large collection. Some of which are considered rare collectibles and quite valuable. If I were to get "Red Flagged" and my guns taken, do you really think they would treat my guns as the valuables they are? Nope! They'd throw them into piles and boxes and haul them away like so much trash. Then only to be thrown in some evidence room/ locker, neglected and allowed to rust. Then say I win my case and my guns are returned. The scratches and damage to them will considerably affect their value. Will I have any recourse to sue the government for this loss? I really doubt it.
  13. When the Lawgiver MK II goes into standard production, I'll consider a smart gun.
  14. PM sent.
  15. This project is on a temporary hold as I'm waiting for the new safety to arrive. At that time I'll work on both that and the trigger. I only want to go into this thing once. Not sure how much I can do. I'm reluctant to change springs for fear of messing with the recoil pulse in the shorter slide. I sure don't want this thing beating itself to death. I sent BH Spring Solutions an e-mail, but since these are brand new, I haven't heard back from them. My Hi-powers are kinda gettin' to be like my 1911s. They're starting to accumulate on me!
  16. It was a birthday party. Should have been a fun time. But it appears that an argument started and somebody decided to settle it with a gun. Stupid, stupid, stupid! Sadly, that's the world we live in today. Young people have no value for human life and kill each other for the most trivial of reasons. We have failed as a society.
  17. Two lessons to draw from this. 1. Nobody can be as cruel as a child. 2. Children are all too quick to become violent. Sad, but this is what our society has become.
  18. Smart guns are a really stupid idea.
  19. I keep telling y'all. Its all about appearances. In politics you don't have to actually do anything as long as you can make it look like you're trying to. The antis know all too well that they ain't got a snowballs chance in Hell of actually passing anything. But by God, they sure look good trying.
  20. Modifying grips is a fairly common practice. I've got several guns with grips that were modified to suit my needs. In this picture, notice the Model 24 snubbie bottom center. I absolutely hate a round butt on a S&W N-frame. Those started out as a set of Ace round to square butt conversion target stocks. I chopped some off the bottom, lightened up the finger grooves and thinned the sides a bit to create a pair of semi-boot grips for this gun. Comfortable and functional.
  21. Henry Firearms has announced their new "Big Boy" revolver. https://www.henryusa.com/handguns/big-boy-revolver/ It kinda reminds me of some of the older Colts. I have no doubt that it will be well built and a good shooter. But Dayyyumm! That thing is ugly! And with a MSRP of $928? Well I wish them good luck.
  22. Congratulations on an excellent find. You pocket carry a S&W L-frame? Dude! What the hell are you wearing?
  23. I vaguely remember something about this group from several years ago. Can't quite put my finger on it, but I remember not being interested.
  24. The girl looks familiar. No idea of the movie. But the gun is either a FN 1910 or its later version the Browning Model 1955.
