He will need to cock it. I'm curious as to why the compensator on the end of the barrel is upside down.

Just to be clear, I have nothing against the quality of FN's new pistol. By all accounts is a fine gun. My objection is with them calling it a High Power. That it AIN'T !

Brazilian soccer legend Pelé dies at age 82!

I've never followed soccer and even I remember what a big deal Pele was. You gotta be really great for non-fans to know you. -
Name recognition. The original simply got too expensive to build in today's snap together world. FN couldn't sell real HPs at a reasonable price and make a profit anymore. This new version is CNC, molded parts and slap it together like many guns these days. But they gave it a classic name so it would sell. Its not a reintroduction, its a fake.

Thanks for the review. I did acquire a SA-35 and am very happy with it. The Girsan has caught my interest. When I see one in person, I may get it just for S&G. I still have no interest in the new FN thing. But would like to see one just out of curiosity.

For one thing I do keep excellent records. What it is, where it came from, what I paid and its current value. That way my sons will have good info to keep from getting screwed when the time comes. One thing I think I will do is print out this list and give a copy to each of my sons. They both like guns and enjoy shooting, but neither has ever gotten into it like I have, Then I'll ask them to mark whatever guns they particularly want. That will help me narrow down what to sell and what to keep. And it might help me decide about selling some of the others.

I'm 68 and not in the best of health. I've been debating thinning the herd for several years now. Heck, I might hang around this old world for another 20-30 years. That's the plan anyway. But the reality is that I could drop over dead any minute. I've been right on the edge twice already. Back in 2017 my best friend passed away. I took on the job of disposing of his collection for his wife. He had just over 100 guns and it was a daunting task. I want to save my sons that headache when I'm gone. The thing is that I've been collecting guns since I was a kid. For many years it was "had to sell one to buy one". I've regretted many of the guns I sold back then. These days I rarely sell a gun unless there's a valid reason. I'm just not wired that way. Heck, there are still plenty of guns I want to buy. OTOH I have a lot of guns that haven't been shot in years. They're just taking up space in the safe. Many of them are collectibles that will bring excellent prices, but its a case of having to find the right buyer. That will take time. I don't need the money, but I don't use the guns. To sell or not to sell? Quite the dilemma for sure.

Note: we have a Judicial system. Not a Justice system. One has little to do with the other. -

The problem is that our government is bought and paid for by people who don't give a #### about you, me or this country. -

Its not about growth. Its about money. Aside from the taxes generated by new workers and business, there's also all the bribes, graft and corruption that goes with it. Money makes the world go round. The problem is that Average Joe ain't part of that world. All we get out of it is the shaft. -
I don't know the girl or the movie. But the gun is a nickle plated 3rd Issue Colt Detective Special.

Government, regardless of what level from City to federal, is focused on headlines and the "popular" program of the day. Mostly liberal give away stuff. All in an effort to look good. Infrastructure has far too long been ignored and only gotten the meager left overs of an already wasted budget. Now its coming around to bite us on the ass. It won't be racism, climate change or any other perceived problem that does us in. Our nation will collapse under the weight of its own disregard for fundamental infrastructure. I fear it may already be too late to stop it. -
Depends on the size of the generator. Some of these things run huge engines designed for heavy trucks and earth moving equipment. When I was working for the city, one of my responsibilities was taking care of the many emergency generators located at various places around the city. The larger ones that could run something like a water treatment plant had fuel tanks that held 5000 gallons or more. Also bear in mind that unlike vehicles, generators have a fixed throttle setting. From the time it starts until it shuts down, that engine is running at about 98% full throttle. And they run 24/7 as long as they are needed. Big sets can burn a lot of fuel in a hurry.

This is how to teach the next generation of shooters.

I guess I just got lucky. No outages or rolling blackouts here. Although I have heard of them in the surrounding areas. No idea why my neighborhood has been spared. But I ain't complaining.

This was the "tacti-cool" of the 1930s. The Colt New Service is a big gun to start with. Chopping it down made this big bore blaster a bit more concealable and user friendly. However, it never became more than a specialized niche gun with a limited following. I noticed that rather unusual cut to the bottom of the frame just ahead of the trigger. Most copy cats didn't do that. This just may indicate that this is in fact an original Colt Fitz Special. Its certainly worth contacting Colt and asking.

I've been following this thread and honestly, I just don't know what to say. It seems that human life has no value anymore. Taking a life over petty theft? What does that say about us as a society? In this case, I hope all those terrible stories you hear about what happens to young, pretty boys in prison are true. -
I'm getting old, not in the best of health, live alone and now its winter on top of that. But still I only check in on this site maybe 10-12 times a day.

We ended up with just enough snow to cover the ground, but not really measurable. Legion's picture pretty much shows it. But its also just the kind of stuff to crust over into a nice sheet of ice. Be careful out there. I was born and raised in the Memphis area. As a kid I remember getting measurable amounts of snow pretty much every year. Usually about 6" or more. I also remember snow hanging around for several days, even a week. I remember the weekend before Christmas of 1963. I was 9 years old. We were at my Grandparent's farm near Quito for the yearly Christmas family gathering and got hit with 13" of snow. What would usually have been about a 45 minute drive home took 3 hours! I also remember many miserable, cold, snowy days and being out in the streets when I was working for the City. Yep, I really like global warming and climate change. I much prefer my snow to just be memories.

I have one of those home weather stations that reads the outdoor temperature. The sensor is located on my back porch. So it tends to read a couple of degrees higher than the actual temp. I've been watching it this afternoon. At 4:00 pm when the front came through it read 51 degrees. Now at 6:30pm its reading 24 and still dropping. We have snow. Its real small, icy type of flurries, but its coming down fast and hard. Streets and ground are starting to get covered. Its days like this that make me really glad I'm retired. When I was still working, the worse the weather, the more likely I'd have to be out in it.
