  1. No, I am pretty sure all you need is the hunting and one of the weapon permits.  The 094 is so you can go into a WMA participate  in a non-quota hunt.  Before I retired that is all I would buy, and the Ft Campbell permit and the wardens never said I needed anything else.  I never hunted WMAs so never purchased any of those permits.  Of course things change, so I could be off, but I don't think so.
  2. Nah, don't despair.  Its different but not overly so.  Though it may be late in the season, it may not be a total bust.  Get the 09 if you hunt rifle and go drop you one.  I don't think you need the 094 unless you are on WMAs, someone correct me if I am wrong but I think one of the three (depending on what you hunt with) is all you  need for deer, buck or doe.
  3. I don't think anyone is saying you have to give up any rights, and yes, they are volunteers but that does not mean they have to put up this sort of garbage.  Yes, I too wore the uniform and dealt with people that wanted nothing better than to see me dead.  That aside, I can sympathize for these officers and can give them the point that though they may not be worse off than I was as a soldier but they also do not have the luxury of being able to call in airstrikes or have a full squad of police to watch each other while on patrol. That's like saying that firemen do not have a dangerous job because they are volunteers, some without pay.
  4. Do you have a big game permit?, I think its a 09-011, if not even though I don't think the system checks, you may be wise to call them to clear that entry then.  If you are checked later, it may come up that you checked in a deer without a license.  If you do have one, then again no harm done.      The system should warn you that you don't have the correct license before allowing you to submit...oh well its new, might be something for a future release.
  5. At this point I would not worry about it, unless it was multiple bucks its not like you will run out of tags.
  6. I was going to remain on the sidelines since I have already had this conversation over and over on other sites and with co-workers.  But I think we have brought out some issues that are good to discuss.  First, this crap about not living the "black" experience so I/we don't know what they go through.  BS, many blacks haven't lived the "black" experience, so what?  I grew up in a neighborhood were we (Hispanics) were a large part of the population.  With that came the FACT, that Hispanics committed the most crimes.  We were profiled, roughed up and in the case of a few friends shot by the police.  We had a particular officer that we all knew not to cross paths with, his name was Snyder and he would tune you up in a heart beat. And Hispanics have been laboring right next to the blacks throughout US history, so have the Chinese on the railroads, and even some Europeans being indentured servants and all.  All that being said, not once did I ever hear anyone in those circles say they were going to target police officers.  So some of us have lived the "experience" and some still do to this day.    That was over 30 years ago, and most of the US police force has gotten much better.  Are there a few bad apples, of course but what large group doesn't have that?  If you are a law abiding citizen, 99% of the time you have nothing to worry about if confronted by the police.  Even if they mistake you for a criminal, the situation will be cleared in time.  In the military it is said that even if you are right, once you begin arguing with your NCOs you are now wrong!  Same goes with a police officer, if you become confrontational and resist arrest, you will come out on the losing end. Does that mean I think they can do no wrong, of course not, but that does not give ANYONE the right to target them outright. The way that certain groups are being allowed to call for the killing of police officers without recrimination is sickening, and I tell you what if I ever see a policeman in trouble you bet I will lend my gun to the situation.
  7. I just got a bullet mold for mine so I can cast my own, I want to do the same as you next season.  I have a mix of rounds left for mine, but like you I want to shoot more, for less.  I was also recommended blackhorn 209 for powder which midsouth has in stock. https://www.midsouthshooterssupply.com/item/000790480/Blackhorn_209_High_Performance_Muzzleloading_Powder_(10_Oz) so will give that a try after hunting season to get it dialed in.  As for range, the furthest I have shot with mine is 150 yards but it can reach further depending on charge and projectile with 300 yards not out of the question.
  8. Welcome to the site, and to the area.  Great bunch of folks around here, you'll like it.
  9. Yea, too many factors to solely rely on a chart.  If the area has few hunters, then maybe the chart may be right, but if there are enough hunters to push them then they can come at any time.  I hunt on a very small plot of land,  7+ acres, but there are 600 acres on two sides of me with hunt clubs.  I rely on them getting pushed toward me, or natural movement when no one is hunting on either side.  Most times, I have quite a few come by but this year has been real slow.  I seen a few, at least 3, one day, no shot, and two a few weeks ago which I dropped.  Been dry otherwise, chart or no chart.
  10. We may yet get more info, but his wife has her own views: http://blogs.dallasobserver.com/unfairpark/2013/06/chris_kyles_widow_tells_glenn.php
  11.  jonathon1289 is correct, if on the interstate I would guess there would be little to salvage but on the slower roads and a well placed bumper there is not too much damage.  Most of the ones we recovered were hit in the head/shoulder area so a lot of meat left.
  12. This wont work?  http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/82698-handmade-custom-bar/
  13. Nothing here southwest edge of Montgomery county.  Got two doe's about three weeks ago about 11a, nothing seen after that.  I see a few at night on my way in, mostly between 10:30 and 11:00p.
  14. It's smaller, but they have a good layout.  I would call them to see if they have what you need in stock, that way you get what you want and can see the store too.  If they don't, then ordering to the store is an option.  I got a shooting bench from there, they had it in stock and saved me in extra shipping due to size.
  15. I hoped you recovered her, we used to hit one at least once a month when I worked by the bunkers.  We would call the MPs, then throw it in the back and have a cookout.
  16. Docs are pretty good at these things nowadays, good luck, and heal quickly.
  17. On the second day of Christmas Mr. Browning gave to me:
  18. Looks like they were in stock; just received mine and my stainless fat bottom coffee cup. Now I need to go put on my ac/dc.
  19. Ok, that target is close, but without trying to pick nits it also is inaccurate. Again, without getting into 3d, angles, caliber etc. The place to aim is the sternum notch, which is the place where both sides of the ribs meet in the middle. Here is what we train with, this, one is the one in color which we use to see the target area. In the shoot house, its more subdued so you have to be close up to see the area hit. The red portion is a hv target area for rifle, get hit there and its bad news, but as you can see there are other target areas. In your graphic, I would aim just below the 9 but above the x. The problem with those type targets is that the human anatomy does not quite allow an equal distance between rings which gives you what you see. But if you look at the other one, it would still do alot of damage in the 10 ring. You can also see what you would hit in the pelvic area if you are so inclined. More and more we are going with 3d targets because when you turn it to different angles, you need a different POA to get the same effect.
  20. Though not to scale, they are close enough to demonstrate what he is trying to get at.  Though the sternum can deflect a bullet, I dare say that even a .22 has a very good chance of getting through; there is a reason why its one of the most favored calibers for assassins.  I have other saved articles which give very good information to consider for those that care to study such as distance, caliber, angle etc.  Ill post those docs, or links if anyone is interested.  I have seen many wounds from projectiles that one would consider impossible to get that far into a body, while at the same time I have seen large caliber wounds that I though should of been a kill.  The point is that you have to take the highest percentage shot and hope its good enough.
  21. Though I don't quite share the sentiment of either of you the fact stands that you don't train to wound.  You shoot to stop the threat, which means you shoot at the largest mass that will give you the best chance of a successful hit..  You seem to indicate that its not a bad thing to aim to wound, that is a sentiment that can get you killed.  If they survive, ok, if they die,so be it as long as you survive the encounter.  If that means you have to empty your gun before they stop, or if you have to reload to keep you in the fight then that is what you should do.    Harsh as it may be, you WANT to kill your opponent, you want him to be out of the fight and have no chance whatsoever to return fire, stab, slash or throw rocks.  You want your story to be the only story there is.  When it comes down to it, all this worrying will cease when the fecal matter hits the rotary impeller and you have to make the choice of where to shoot and I hope no one on this board has to actually experience this.  But until then, train as you fight and fight as you train.
  22. Some good reading:   www.mouseguns.com/Defensive%20(Combat)%20Accuracy.pdf
  23. Yes, but if the keypad goes it's stuck closed unless a bypass is present..  We had a keybox with electronic key pad that would wear out those things quick, but it had keyed access to allow for battery replacement and maintenance on the electronics.
  24. I think I covered that.  While body armor is getting easier to get, most bad guys are not going to be wearing it.  If they are, well as a civilian with minimal training you just may be up the fecal creek without a paddle because then the bad guy is probably a little more trained and determined than the average one.  But getting hit with body armor is not fun, and if you are a little guy, or not supported you will end up on your backside.  Continued attack is a very good likelihood, and there is no way to keep it from happening 100% of the time.  If you get a CNS shot, which is difficult, he is down, no matter what.  But with adrenaline, fear, anger etc, it just makes the situation worse on both sides.  Doing head shots at the range is hard enough, but add any of the mentioned things and it just makes it that much harder.  That is why COM is taught to even the most capable shooters.  Now, this is not to say that you should not take that shot if it presents itself, heck I would take a shot at a hand or foot if that is all I could see.  But percentage wise, you are better off shooting at the largest portion you can see.  As far as pass through, I don't worry about that as much as missing.
