I have read the code several times due to the fact that I travel to and from AL several times a month. As I recall Fallguy is absolutely correct. I am assuming that you have a TN HCP? It's not completely clear from your post. Alabama recognizes the HCP of any other state and I have never read anything about a number of hours that requires you to obtain an AL permit. btw - They actually do recognize it. I have been stopped once or twice but not ticketed.

You should read reviews of the .45 ammo before you make a purchase!! Many buyers have reported that is is a hodgepodge of assorted stamps, some of which is dangerous and not fit to shoot. Some of the reviews reported missing primers, badly dented casings, misformed bullets, etc. Buyer beware, it's cheap for a reason.

From what I have read, generally speaking, the higher pressure rounds will wear out a barrel much faster than a lower pressure round. That's why a .50 cal can be worn out after 1000-1500 and a .22 can go for 10,000+. With that said there are many variable that can influence barrel life. Proper cleaning, bullet type, and barrel temperature can all influence the life of the barrel.

Yep. Politics. They will probably just pay a consultant a few hundred thousand dollars to investigate the issue and report back to a committee. The report will take 10 years and cost 300% above the contract price. Once it has been submitted to the committee it will take them another 5 years to discuss the report and another couple hundred thousdand to update the report to reflect current conditions, the revision will take another 5 years....in the end criminals don't care about laws...that's why you call them criminals!! duh

You should also look at the difference in barrel life between the .308 and .338.

We had the exact same thing happen at my office last year. It was caused by a tree limb touching one of the 3 phase lines across the street. The wind would blow the branch into the line and pzzzzaaap...a few times and them random things would go off/on. Finally figured it out one day late and I noticed a bright flash followed by something that sounded like a rifle shot. MED had the tree cut down and reset the power. No problems since.

That would be awesome! I hadn't actually met Rick until a month or so ago. I was originally excited when a new range opened. I was sadly disappointed when I got there. I told him that I would personally pick him up and drive him to Hero Gear in Winchester if he would buy them from Joe instead of Rick Uselesston
