  1. FAA Safety Team | Safer Skies Through Education FAA Announces Small UAS Registration Rule Notice Number: NOTC6328 Press Release – For Immediate Release December 14, 2015 Contact: Les Dorr or Alison Duquette Phone: (202) 267-3883 Registration will be free for the first 30 days! WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) today announced a streamlined and user-friendly web-based aircraft registration process for owners of small unmanned aircraft (UAS) weighing more than 0.55 pounds (250 grams) and less than 55 pounds (approx. 25 kilograms) including payloads such as on-board cameras. The Registration Task Force delivered recommendations to FAA Administrator Michael Huerta and Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx on November 21. The rule incorporates many of the task force recommendations. “Make no mistake: unmanned aircraft enthusiast are aviators, and with that title comes a great deal of responsibility,” said U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx. “Registration gives us an opportunity to work with these users to operate their unmanned aircraft safely. I’m excited to welcome these new aviators into the culture of safety and responsibility that defines American innovation.” Registration is a statutory requirement that applies to all aircraft.  Under this rule, any owner of a small UAS who has previously operated an unmanned aircraft exclusively as a model aircraft prior to December 21, 2015, must register no later than February 19, 2016. Owners of any other UAS purchased for use as a model aircraft after December 21, 2015 must register before the first flight outdoors. Owners may use either the paper-based process or the new streamlined, web-based system.  Owners using the new streamlined web-based system must be at least 13 years old to register. Owners may register through a web-based system at:  www.faa.gov/uas/registration Registrants will need to provide their name, home address and e-mail address. Upon completion of the registration process, the web application will generate a Certificate of Aircraft Registration/Proof of Ownership that will include a unique identification number for the UAS owner, which must be marked on the aircraft. Owners using the model aircraft for hobby or recreation will only have to register once and may use the same identification number for all of their model UAS. The registration is valid for three years. The normal registration fee is $5, but in an effort to encourage as many people as possible to register quickly, the FAA is waiving this fee for the first 30 days (from Dec. 21, 2015 to Jan 20, 2016). “We expect hundreds of thousands of model unmanned aircraft will be purchased this holiday season,” said FAA Administrator Huerta. “Registration gives us the opportunity to educate these new airspace users before they fly so they know the airspace rules and understand they are accountable to the public for flying responsibly.” The online registration system does not yet support registration of small UAS used for any purpose other than hobby or recreation – for example, using an unmanned aircraft in connection with a business. The FAA is developing enhancements that will allow such online registrations by spring of 2016. The full rule can be viewed here:www.faa.gov/news/updates/media/20151213_IFR.pdf For questions regarding this notice, contactKen Kelley, AFS-850 by email atKen.R.Kelley@faa.gov or by telephone at(775) 858-7700 Ex 258. 2. 3 mags per gun...don't know why just the way I have always done it!
  3. I sent those back.....I have hearing loss and If I didn't use ear plugs with them my ears would be ringing and ears killing me.    If I used foam ear plugs with them then I couldn't hear anyone talking.   So I ordered these instead http://www.amazon.com/Honeywell-R-01902-Amplification-Electronic-Earmuff/dp/B007BGSI5U/ref=sr_1_3?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1450055225&sr=1-3&keywords=Howard+Leight+Impact+Sport+OD+Electric+Earmuff ....I don't have to use ear plugs with them.....even with the volume turned down low I can hear people talking on the other side of the range..they don't cut out when the guns go off.  No ringing ears or pain!!!
  4. I got a pocket holster for my glock 42.  they sold me a model that was not for the glock, but was perfect except it was a too snug.   I didn't feel like driving back to the store.   so after  googling it.  I found a few gun sites that suggested using plastic shopping bags to ziplock bags to expand the leather.  you have need to start out with one bag... wrap the unloaded gun in the bag put back in holster  and let it set for a few minutes to  24 hours or longer..   I think I started out with a Walmart bag then ended with 2 Walmart bags and a zip lock sandwich bag and over 48 hours.. it fits perfect now..you what to start off thin and work your way up..   from the Galco hoster site:   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZkB171kh1Q&feature=plcp    One of the side effects of wet molding is a consolidation of the leather fibers, which “shrinks” the holster. If the fit is too tight when holstering your firearm the first time, don’t force it. If you do force the firearm into the holster, it may be very difficult to remove. Instead, follow these simple steps to break in your new holster using a process called blocking:  1. Place the unloaded firearm in a plastic freezer bag, or cover it in 2-3 layers of plastic kitchen wrap. Do not cover the grip.  2. Insert the bagged/wrapped firearm slowly into the holster, gently twisting it side-to-side to minimize tearing of the bag/wrap.  3. Once the firearm is completely seated in the holster, twist it about 1/16” in both directions 6-12 times. 4. Allow the bagged/wrapped firearm to sit in the holster for about 15 minutes. 5. Remove the firearm from the holster and remove the bag/wrap from the firearm. 6. Insert the unloaded firearm into the holster, which should now be snug but not loose. If it is still too tight, repeat the above steps until the holster is broken in to your satisfaction.   From  Milt Sparks' Website site:   Tightness in a new holster is not uncommon and is much preferable to the alternative. If the draw is a little stiff at first, it is recommended that you work with it to see if it doesn't loosen up with a bit of use. About 25 to 50 presentations should be a good indicator of whether the holster will break in sufficiently on its own or if maybe a little blocking out of the leather is in order. There are many variables as to why a holster would be excessively tight ranging from the texture of your guns finish, to slight changes in climate or humidity from where the holster is made. Regardless of the reason, a too tight holster can easily be remedied by the end user with a method we have been recommending to customers for over 20 years.  To block out (stretch) your new holster first UNLOAD your pistol or revolver and place the gun into the 4 mil plastic bag that your new holster was packaged in. Then carefully insert the bagged gun all the way into the holster (do not! I repeat, do not!! wet or spray the holster with any solution to aid in the stretching process). The blocking out process as described above will in no way harm the crisp detailed molding of your new holster, nor will it ruin its retention qualities. It serves simply to stretch the leather a few thousands of an inch larger than the gun. The amount of stretching time needed for satisfactory results range from a just a few minutes to overnight. Any clarifications or concerns on the above, or if you would rather we talk you through the process, then please call us.
  5. http://www.kfvs12.com/story/30722113/man-shoots-dog-in-neighborhood-park-while-kids-are-playing-nearby?clienttype=generic&sf16860216=1   If a person shot one of my dogs ...I really don't know what I would do. I have had a few shot in the past as a kid on my parents farm.  I still don't know what I would do if I found out who did it.  I have been blessed with a lot of dogs in my life.  Big breeds and small breeds.  We were walking our yorkies around our block back in the spring.   A couple was walking their lad off leash it came after our dogs.. ours were on leashes.  could have ended bad for our dogs..I was the one who got it under control.  the owner of the lab was useless.  I got irritated with the lab's owner but not the lab.  But I don't think I could shoot another person's dog unless it was attacking a person, but even then I think i would try other ways first.

  9. We were looking for a dog a few years back.  A coworker had a family member who was having to downsize from a house to an apartment.  She had a rotty.   I have had many dogs but never a rotty,  Well ,we went to just look at the rotty (I didn't think that one through,, when you take your wife and two young kids to look at a dog you are coming home with said dog)   One of the best dogs we ever had.   He was a teddy bear...to a point....he loved people loved to meet new people but he was very protective over us and loved the kids. When he barked or growled it got your attention and when he did the wife and I knew something was usually not right.   We had to have him put down due to health reasons in 2012 we are still not past it.    I have met a lot of Rotty people, most have a pack of them. I always thought they were weird people   I never understood it until we got ours.
  10. Have a ruger mkII  as the others have posted.....accurate and reliable ....if you get one,,,you may want to get this...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYJp-NiJV7g                 they can be a pain putting them back together after cleaning to some of us!!!!
  11. Yes,, online and in store......wish they would open a store in the Memphis area!!!!!!  Have a set of their Falken Rocky Mountains on my 4x4 now...love the tire except they knock about 5 mpg off mpg!!!  Had a set on the wife's trailblazer ext she was happy with them!
  12.   As I posted above.  After the 300 round mark it has not given me any more problems.  I took it and my shield to the range this morning.  The Glock 42 ate 100 rounds of Perfecta ammo with no problems  before the 300 rounds it would not do that.  I have to admit the more I shoot the glock the more I love the shield.
  13. Freedom ammo is made in Idaho and I want to say ships from Oregon ,,,,where Midway usually ships from Missouri..  sgammo ships from Oklahoma. for me in the Memphis area freedom usually takes a week.   I will warn you...every time I have ordered from Freedom in the fall winter or spring time.  It has always been delayed in route due to a snow storm coming across the west or mid west.  Not Freedoms fault, and I guess not UPS's either but one time the reason for being delayed was first weather then they actually put on the tracking note   LOST TRAILER ...then misplaced trailer. Took UPS a week to find the trailer!
  14. Academy sports has it again on black friday for $99.99
  15. Yes the reason I used They...and since the last 3 or 4 post above mine was about French.
  16. that was already discussed on page 8.
  17. Congrats on the new guns!   I buy a lot from http://www.freedommunitions.com  they give free shipping on first time orders and some holidays or cheaper shipping other times of the year.  They have sales often.     Lately Walmart has had Perfecta 9mm close to the above site, so I been buying that.
  18. I thought it was wrong with the flack they took when they would not join us when we invaded Iraq..they started with air strikes in Afghanistan in Oct of 2001 and had troops on the ground in Afghanistan  Nov of 2001.
  19. I got the 22lr, last year on Black Friday at Academy Sports.  I love it!   Fun to shoot easy to clean.  The only gun I own that I can put all the rounds on target at 25 yards.   I paid $99 plus fees.  It comes with a free NRA one year membership.    They sell the 22 mag cylinder at the Heritage website for $30 but the usually have a sale during dec.  I think it was 40% off.   Academy usually offers this as a Black Friday item or has the last few years.
