Been thinking about an 18 inch " precision " AR. Thinking about the 18 inch, 1 in 8 twist " Preditor " barrel... Does anyone have any experience with White Oak..? They come pretty highly recommended... Any thoughts on alternate barrels that do the same thing...? Thanks in advance. leroy...

For what it's worth... If I wuz really interested in a 20 ga semiauto, I would look at the recoil operated guns from the " golden age " of the semiauto shotgun... I would look for a good Browning Auto Five or a older recoil operated Franchi ( if they made em ... I ain't sure ). I would replace the springs n friction rings ( or have an old gunsmith do it ), and make sure the ammo I chose would cycle. That said; the " golden era " Browning's are expensive, which would be an issue for me. Remember; the big selling point of a gas operated shotgun is they are somewhat " soft shooting "; the old recoil operated guns are not. I own several recoil operated semis, because I grew up with em. One of em is a Browning A500, a " lesser child " to many shotgunners because of their Portuguese build. Mine works like a charm, but it's a 12 ga. The other is a Beretta1201, again, a 12 gage. I'd like to have a good, reliable 20 ga semi myself, but they tend to be scarce and pricy ( if " golden era "). I also love the forgotten Browning BPS pumps. They are the best pump ever ( including the Mossberg, I think ). They are pricey, and almost impossible to find in the shorter barrel lengths. The 20 ga ones have simply evaporated; a testament to their greatness. Good luck on your quest for a sensibly priced 20 ga semi, it's gonna be a tall order to find the " Goldilocks " model I'ma thinkin. Hope this gives ya a bit of food for thought. leroy.

Dear Brother and Sister long range shooters... Another mania has struck me. The long range mania with 77 grain loads. Which bullets..? Which barrels would ya recommend..? What contour and length..? Does the bolt n bolt carrier matter..? If so, which one would ya recommend..? Does the bolt need to be blueprinted to the barrel..? If so, who can do that...? Does the pin slop between the upper and lower matter..? If so, how do ya fix it..? Anything I've missed..? Thanks in advance... leroy...

Garufa... "...While I don't agree with Yassin's new-found "activism" or his stances on may things, I think maybe the University's response (including UTPD) might have been just a little much. Buy all accounts he's a helluva nice guy. He now has three locations of his "Yassin's Falafel House", still well liked and the food is excellent. I don't think his reputation has been damaged at all "... I think the jury is out on this. My son is a " Falafel House " regular customer n cheerleader. He ain't now, since this incident... Yassin may survive this, but there ain't a business nor publicity model that I know of where this is anything other than a catastrophe. The point is; he could have simply avoided this by not being present. The truth is that while Yassin is a valued community member; he is a minority, whether anybody likes or approves or not. That position has its own share of unique problems. We can quibble about fairness, equality, and all the high minded, eloquent principles that argue against stereotypes and promote the " brotherhood of man "; but people do, in fact, make judgements and have preferences. Yassin may well survive, but I'ma thinkin that lotsa " good will capital" has been totally been wasted here if this becomes widely known. In sum, there is no way this is good for him in any demographic other than the " Anti Israel IDF Baby killers " one. I'ma guessin that demographic is infinitesimal in these parts, even counting the jhadist, loonies, n misfits from UTK and surrounding edifices of " Higher Learning ", and the occasional Anti Israel native sons and imports... leroy... -

I'll admit to " butchering the facts "... I ain't sure what " Criminal Trespassing" is, but I'm betting ya get arrested for it . The problem for Yaseem, is that the damage is done. He simply could have stayed out of this idiotic mess, but he chose not to. None of this " notierity", no matter the details, has helped him in any way. It is, indeed, a tragedy. leroy. This never helps.. ( lifted from the News 6 article )... "... Officers arrived and took the protesters into custody. Terou was released from the Roger D. Wilson Detention Facility in Knox County Thursday morning. ..." -

Pop Pop just described me. For me, it's the " old dog, new trick " axiom. I can see the front sight of my pistola quickly at any range. I find myself hunting for the red dot when I handle one. That said; if it works for you, go for it... leroy...

There are places where this can happen now. The more " quaintly rustic " the territories become; the more dangerous it becomes to be an overbearing jackass with alot to say... leroy. -

On a similar note; we had a recent " Day of Rage " demonstration ( a small one ) here in Knoxville. During the course of the demonstration; a long time ( and beloved ) Arab member of the community ( there is a pretty old n established one here, along with a pretty good Jewish one as well ) who runs a long time mom n pop restaurant here got carried away; opened his pie hole too loudly, and evidently did a bit of resistin when the KPD called em down and told him ya go home. He wuz charged with " resisting arrest " ( I think ) and booked. He was ( past tense ) a respected and even beloved long time restraunteer here. His zeal actions may have destroyed a business it took 40 years to build up. These encounters are, indeed, a tragedy... leroy... -

RE:.." Freedom of expression "... This country is built upon freedom of expression and freedom of association. The hippie generation of the sixties took this " freedom " to the extreme. They and their children are now concentrated on the left; and " freedom of expression" has morphed into " hate speech "... If they don't like it; you can't speak it... They have become the very image of the thing they hated in their youth. Ain't that interesting..? leroy... -

I would recommend sticking with the glock if ya fixed the trigger and like it. I own both, and the Apex trigger in the 43x is just about like my cr 920. I like em both, but they ain't gonna make an MR 920 trigger. I think the smaller frames make the trigger geometry a bit shorter, making the trigger pull harder...That said, I do like the size and magazines on the cr better... Hope this helps. leroy...

for-trade Want to trade CCI No# 11 percussion caps for No# 10 caps
leroy replied to dpkdavis's topic in Gear Classifieds
dp... Have been thru this reworking 36 navies for the son. Ya may want to order some new nipples and fit em to make the #11s work. I'ma thinkin that night be a viable, less aggravating solution. We also used ta crimp the caps a tad if we could; or put a dab of Bore Butter on the edge of the nipples to help hold the caps on. The son used the pistolas to shoot black powder CAS... Hope this helps... leroy .
