  1. Wow cool..! A genuine " Coon Hunters Friend "..! Don't know that I've ever seen one that nice... leroy...
  2. I think the key for all men's shirt clothing is to make sure your skirt tail is long enough and about a size too big. That lets the shirt drape over your pistola and completely cover it whether it's IWB or OWB. I'm a Duluth fan as well as Carhartt. As others have opened, your belt needs to be the best ( and most likely the most expensive ) part of your wardrobe, with your holster being a close second. A great gun belt and a solid holster will cure a multitude of other problems if your skirt tail is long and full enough to naturally drape over your pistola and rig. I like the dark colored thing with patterns as well. Think camouflage here. leroy.
  3. Lucky... I am humbled by your kindness. I know you, me, and many others are hoping for the day when this madness ceases. leroy.
  4. Folks... There has been lotsa opining on this tragedy. An undeniable tragedy on lotsa levels. The sadness of children murdered. The sadness of folks of good will being murdered because they simply worked at this school. The tragedy of someone so young and so full of rage and hate that they thought shooting innocents and folks who were doing good was a laudable idea. There is simply no end to this tragedy. Folks are horrified, deeply saddened, scared and repulsed by this atrocious and senseless act. That said, there have been lotsa partial solutions advanced... School hardening, armed and trained resource officers, improved mental health screening, etc. The list goes on. All these solutions have their place, but I think all of these " governmental " and " societal " solutions overlook the root problem. That is the problem of " evil ". You cannot attend to this problem of senseless murder of others by not confronting the issue of evil people doing evil things. The fact of the matter is that there is no gubt solution to evil other than eradicating the perpetrators. We want to believe that if we somehow get the right mix of protections, that this problem will go away somehow. It will not go away because of the problem of " evil ". Murder, mayhem, and killing has always been around. It's present in every society. Our society has magnified this problem because we are so balkanized, hedonistic, and devoid of the ethics of how we should treat our brothers and sisters, that many are all about themselves and have no inclination to be accommodating or kind to others with which theys disagree. Put another way; only those who are in lock step agreement are brothers, and those who disagree with us are not worthy even of life. It is my fervent belief that this is the root of the problem; and as long as there are enablers, apostles, and cheerleaders for this madness; these senseless, evil calamities will not go away. That said, in our society " freedom of speech " enables them to continue. I do, however, believe they can be minimized to a great extent if we take the steps to physically protect children in the classroom using dedicated, trained, and able personnel who will not hesitate to use deadly force to defend these innocents. The solution is not more laws or gubt regulations. The solution is to make potential malefactors count the cost of doing these things as a deterrent; and to eliminate the perpetrators when the need arises. In closing, I've tried to keep this little epistle on the secular plane, but it is undeniable that this issue touches the spiritual plane. The " God-Man " said that " you should love your brother as yourself "... This is the ultimate solution, but we live in a fallen world. Since we live in this " fallen world ", we need to clearly see that there are evil beings bent on doing evil things, and we need to be ready as both Believers and Non Believers to take decisive action to protect these most precious in our society. May this sort of tragedy never happen again. leroy...
  5. Alleycat... The " whose moral compass " question is a great one. One can make the case that laws are not " moral decisions " at all; but are rules that society agrees on via the vote ( here, at least for the time being ) and enforces via the law to keep guardrails on society. I happen to think that there are, indeed, " moral compasses " within all of us, whether we believe so or not. Morality is a personal issue as I see it. You decide to do or not to do certain things; therefore; morality cannot be imposed or demanded within an individual; it's kinda like being pregnant, you are or you ain't; there is no continuum of in between choices. That is the reason for the " you can't legislate morality " speech. Morality is a personal choice. America is unique in that different views are tolerated, but there is consensus via " representative Gubt " as to what the rules are and a fair bit of compliance ( up to now ) as to the majority of citizens agreeing with n following those rules. The purpose of the law is to control behaviors within society, and to punish, remove, or eliminate those who do not comply ( in an ideal society ). It is the framework of agreed to rules under which that society operates. It keeps society orderly. In our society, representatives of our society choose these rules ( laws ). Within that number of " representatives" there are all kinds of folks... The whole spectrum of society. There will be freaks, fruits, fairies, guttersnipes, priests, preachers, jhadists, and folks of good will in their number. They will agree on and make into laws the rules our society enforces. Choose your " representatives" carefully, they are your voice. That is exactly why this " McNally " thing is so hot a topic. leroy... junior lecturer in morality and ethics.
  6. Greg... We are seeing it here in Knoxville in the hipster microbrewery scene. Ya are seeing the microbrewery guys doin " special events " aimed at the " alternate " community. These guys are the ultimate, hard working, quick thinking, cynical, capitalists entrepreneurs; workin hard ta get every dollar available from every people group. At least two that come to mind here are the Gypsy Circus cider guys, and the Yeehaw brewery guys. I do business with both these guys. Once in a " Blue Moon ", I have some hard cider. I love and highly recommend Yeehaw 80, it's a great ale. That said, I have been absent from the aforementioned " special events ". ale n cider drinking leroy...
  7. A couple of things to think about: The intent of this thread was not to start a cat fight about who is who, what their pronouns are, nor to assess the morality of society in general. The answer to the " morality of society in general " is obvious... It stinks. Simple observation teaches that fact. it was to point out the grievous error in judgement that McNally ( a politician ) made in this episode and to prognosticate on the political fallout. These are two separate issues. I'ma thinkin he may be done, regardless of his " pronouns n proclivities ". His problem is self created. He lives in a world where folks are watching for any error or excuse to remove or gain advantage over their opposition. McNally has allowed a grievous one. He is a " public figure ", and can be worn out by his enemies; political and otherwise, in the public court of opinion. The second issue is one of " legislating morality "... As others have opened; it can't be done. That said, every citizen of this state has to recognize that the " grooming n hitting on kids thing " is dead on arrival here in this state, and most everywhere else I know of. It is the responsibility of parents to be " parents ". It is the responsibility of those who interact with kids ( both teachers and other adults ) to keep their hands off them in any way that is " suggestive". It's that simple. " Hands off " means no drag shows open to kids, no books, no " alternate literature " in textbooks n school libraries ", no " show n tell ", etc; you get the picture. You ( and me, and " ...them ... priests, preachers, teachers, librarians, neighbors, kinfolk, polititians, etc." ), as outsides, should keep your conduct non suggestive and pure. Failure to do so is dangerous to your career, your overall physical condition, and even your life here in Tennessee. The " libertarian " ideal doesn't apply to kids; it applies to adult citizens. Children are put in the care of their families, they are not " freeborn citizens of the world ". Failure to respect this truth can be very dangerous on lotsa levels in most every place I've ever been. There is no " libertarian utopia ", where you are free to do whatever you want, free of rules n boundaries. Societies and gubts don't work that way. Finally, my apologies to Brother GrayFox; I couldn't get the quoted text box to go away in this post. Leroy...
  8. I wish I wuz 30 years younger... I would grab this guy up and sit him in the gun safe next to my Remington 700 Safari 375. Anyone who fancies himself a finished rifleman owes it to him self to own n learn to shoot one of these beasties. They are extremely accurate n powerful. Nothin like em... Good luck with the sale... Admirin Leroy... Old time 375 shooter.
  9. I can't decide what " the real deal " is... I live in McNally's home district, n I've never heard of nor thought anything other than he wuz bought n paid for by the " Landed Gentry " republicans like Haslam. He may have just made an Huho; but in his business they can be fatal. As I remember, McNally is 78, that's pretty ancient for any kind of flanderin of any flavor... wondering leroy...
  10. Have y'all seen this tidbit..? A Republican TN rep has had enough of McNally... https://www.wsmv.com/2023/03/16/tennessee-lawmaker-calls-lt-gov-mcnally-resign-after-perverted-social-media-activity/ This could have a very definite effect on TN 2A politics. McNally has long been in the pockets of the " Property Rights trump Self Defense" crowd... This one will be interesting to watch. As I remember, this McNally thing made Breitbart... Watching ( n hopin ) leroy...
  11. Rausch is neither a lawyer, a good police chief, a scholar, nor a student of the Second Amendment... He is, however, a boot licking opportunist, hoisted on us all via the Haslam Enterprise. David Rausch's only discernable talent ( . To me, at least .) is being bought n paid for by Bill Haslam and rewarded a KPD chief's job; and later with the directorship of the TBI. He is in the same class as McNally; only a bit below, as he was never elected to any office. He is, however, very adept at bootlicking n saying "Yousah Boss"... The citizens of the State of Tennessee deserve far better than this " civil servant "... despisin leroy... Watcher of the foxes in the henhouse...
  12. Things to consider... Dexterity... Ya can't beat goatskin for dexterity. In the old days, our TIG welding guys used goatskin. Go to the nearest welding supply store and get the right size n the right price. They are very reasonably priced. Second; if you work, that is: Carry concrete blocks, stone, bricks, manure, shovel, dig, swing a sledge hammer, set poles, climb poles, do wire rigging; expect your gloves to wear out, no matter the price if they are leather. They are sacrificial garments to save your hands. If you wear your gloves to drive, ride horses, ATVs, etc; they are an " accessory ", not a primarily protective clothing; they will last just fine. Spend as much as your pride in ownership quotient allows... By the way, this info is brought to you via an old curmudgeon, who has worked in jobs where ya can wear out a pair of gloves a day. Lastly, Wells Lamont leather palm/ canvas " White Mule " gloves used to be the best ya could by if you " worked "... Mine used to last about a week before the fingers wore thru back in the hod carrying/ brickwork days. retired ( thankfully ) leroy, the glove man...
  13. I've got a couple of em in 10 mm. They are excellent pistolas. Mine are Glocks, but I keep craving an XD M like the one ya just picked up. I'm more a fan of XDs triggers than Glocks. I seem to shoot em a bit better. I can tell ya if your 10 mm shoots like my 9 mm XD M elite 4.5; ya are gonna like it... Can't wait to hear the range report... leroy...
  14. McNally needs to go... He has always come across as a " know it all "," smartest person in the room "; always ready to enlighten n guide us less erudite rustics. He is bought n paid for by big business in Tennessee. It will be a great day when he is gone from Tennessee politics. Check the contributor list. https://justfacts.votesmart.org/candidate/campaign-finance/24356/randy-mcnally despisin leroy..
  15. After doin a bit of watching; sadly, I'm beginning to believe that this poor woman's family search for justice is nothin more than an opportunity to make a few dollars thru a " nuisance " settlement or " wrongful death " settlement with the city n hospital. They are taking one wrong and turning it into an opportunity for cash. We need hospitals; we need police. This angling for a " settlement " will hurt both, including this poor woman's memory. SIGH. I'ma thinkin they care no more than to pocket some cash... It's a truly sad scene. It is also very wrong. leroy...
  16. Congratulations Brother. I never could get my Walther vibes right. Money...No Walther... No money...Lotsa Walthers... SIGH. Enjoy your great pistola. leroy.
  17. I understand Brother... Been retired for 17 years. I love outdoor photography and do it alot. I enjoy being outdoors. I also volunteer a bit at church. The most important thing is not to get sad n depressed. I watched my older brother decide he was worthless because he retired. He is now gone home. My advice; hunt several things ya like n go do em. Buddy around with your buddies as ya can. Quit worrying about age and enjoy... leroy... 76 year old kid n loading specialist.
  18. Do what ya will... Folks let their work trucks sit out with tools in em all the time. Some get broken into n some don't. I've had 2 pistols stole from personal n work vehicles over my 50 or so years; got one of em back. The point is; that if it's in the vehicle and not in a bolted down and sturdy lock box, your pistola will most likely be gone. leroy...
  19. Congratulations.!!! Can't beat em Brother..! A favorite for sure... leroy.
  20. To add to the reporting, they are an excellent pistola. Got one myself. leroy..
  21. Either go big here, or keep it on you. The bolted box is where it's at. A cable can be cut in seconds. I never leave my pistola anywhere. If it can't go ( I understand the " work " thing, I'm retired though. ), I can't go. They don't call it concealed carry for nothin. leroy...
  22. Very sad, indeed... Knoxville has a long history of not caring about the poor n disadvantaged... SIGH. leroy...
