Do you sometimes clean your wife's gun for her after shooting together?
oldogy replied to QuietDan's topic in General Chat
I always clean the wife's gun. She cleans my clothes. oldogy -
Look at articulating gimbal mounted cup holders as used in boats. The first time you get in rough terrain you'll appreciate it. oldogy

As mentioned, intended use would dictate construction. Think years ahead. For absolute cleanliness consider a section of metal working surface. If you're going to have a sizable vice installed, attach the bench to the wall solidly. Sooner or later you'll have a project where you want a solid heavy duty bench, a place to anchor a project and pull or push. Good lighting and ample electrical outlets are important. oldogy

I do believe we as taxpayers pay to build dedicated places to run. School tracks come to mind and many areas have hiking, jogging trails. Public highways and pedestrians,,,no.

Feel Good Story - If You Don't Have A Dog, GET ONE!
oldogy replied to xRUSTYx's topic in General Chat
Interesting read. It is Sad that insurance companies look at a protective dog such as that as a liability. oldogy, who shares the place with a rescued German Shepherd -
Right now I am watching a little six pointer chasing a doe around in my grove about a hundred yards from the house. She isn't quite ready for the fun and games yet. oldogy

I built one years ago that worked just fine at about 8 inches at the muzzle end. I used an assortment of wedges in the rear. I do not remember the dimensions I used but it worked on everything I had until I got a black rifle with those terrible high capacity magazines. So, guess I need to modify my work. oldogy

Good discussion. Guys and gals, think long and hard about that "ain't gonna find anything in my car" scenario. Many years ago when one son was about 20 YO, clean cut, living at home, working part time and going to college full time he found an old El Camino he had to have. He immediately bought the stereo system that had to be installed. I was helping him, working up under the dash when out comes this dust covered 'joint'. I know as well as I am sitting here that it was not his as we had an understanding that I had zero tolerance of any kind for illegal stuff of any kind and that thing had been there for years. Besides he had to pass drug tests for his job. We both thought what a mess that could have been if he had been stopped and the car searched. I blew the trash and dust out of the dash and we pulled the carpet and blew all that dirt out. Oh,and, I've heard that most of the money in your pocket will have traces of drugs, weed, or something else undesirable thereon. And would a dog make a hit on this? oldogy

Typical liberal pap from those with give me mentalities. The reader comments were not very complimentary. oldogy

And, IMO, the US is doing the same damn things that Argentina did. A very interesting study, the similarities. oldogy

We all should know that a confrontation in the middle of nowhere with someone with an unknown mindset over a deer kill is not worth any risk. OP, you did the right thing IMO. Live to tell and hunt again. oldogy

Little old cheap KelTec P11 also fits the ten round if you just load the magazine. oldogy

Wife was helping me pressure wash and....

Very well trained. oldogy -
First off, I realize you are posing a "what if" situation for discussion and it is interesting. I would not allow my dog to ride in the back of my truck. If she is with me she is in the cab with the heat or the AC on, all 85lbs of her. When I adopted her and the previous rescued GSD I signed that the animal would not be allowed to ride in the back of an uncovered truck. Now, back to the discussion. I would call 911 and follow the vehicle. oldogy

Another welcome back. I wondered where you were. oldogy

I liked my PF9. I did have extractor problems initially but a new extractor spring made it reliable. I like my P11 as well. Either one is easy to carry, conceal. The fluff and buff does help the comfort. oldogy

TSA checkpoints now on TN highways
oldogy replied to kckndrgn's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I was northbound on I-75 Saturday, 29th just inside the TN line. There sat a special paint dark gray Ford Explorer in obvious LE configuration with super blacked out windows. It was not of an agency that I recognized, just a bit different but obviously LE. I have my suspicions. -
Drop over to fordtrucks.com and monitor the classified section. Like Magiccarpetrides said, If you find one, buy it. The later series Ford diesels do not enjoy the same reputation.

Stars and stripes shooting sports, Maryville, Tn.
oldogy replied to dralarms's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I had been to Maryville on 10/27 so I stopped by Stars & Stripes just to see what they had and,,,,,,,,,,,besides, I like gun shops:D. I found the signage at the door that welcomed "anyone with a legal firearm and a HCP" or very close wordage. My experience was positive. They had a handgun that I had wanting for a while and when negotiations were complete it was priced right, better than I had been able to obtain elsewhere. I found Carol to be very accommodating to my questions and her husband, I guess it was to be helpful as well. Anyway, I walked out with a new toy, a couple consumable things I needed and a decent feeling. BTW, they were both open carrying. They are in the new small strip mall adjacent to the Wallmart on US 411. -
I will call out anyone, LEO or other who displays a lack of muzzle discipline. I called out a gun shop worker several years ago in front of the owner. The owner said nothing at the time but the worker has not been there since.

Attack as in inflict wound, draw blood? I would think the dog would have to be large enough to inflict great harm. I don't see how you could justify shooting a mouse hound or other smaller dog unless it appeared rabid. I kicked a mouse hound one time when he sneaked up behind me and nipped, drawing blood. Just parts of the equation I would use. oldogy

Been to that one a couple times. Not this time. oldogy
